Happy Friday! Our coverage of The Ones Who Live continues this week with our discussion of Episode 5, "Become." We enjoyed the episode and were SHOCKED, but delighted by the return of Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) to the TWD universe. We share all of our favorite moments from Richonne's second honeymoon episode - including the big proposal at the end. Candi very graciously fills in a few background gaps for me on the past relationship between Gabriel and Ann/Jadis. And of course we talk about Jadis's final character run and whether or not we understood all of her choices. We close with our wishlist for the finale. In sum, we want cinnamon roll sweetness and will not be here for any bittersweet endings. This is a love story and we want a happy ending for this beloved couple. And a reunion!Support the showFollow the pod on IG, Twitter, and Tumblr.Send longer feedback to morewinepod@gmail.com.Find our full catalog of past episodes at morewinepod.buzzsprout.com.

Scott Gimple was the showrunner for five seasons of “The Walking Dead” before becoming chief content officer for the entire franchise. And in that time, the series has become a content universe, with a spinoff series, video games and both a movie and another spinoff in the works. Kai Ryssdal interviewed Gimple in his Burbank office, not too far from a life-sized statue of Han Solo frozen in carbonite. They talked horror what it’s like to direct the storyline for an entire franchise. And Gimple made a passionate pitch for Ryssdal to give the series a shot.

Talking Through Close Your Eyes On this episode of Fear the Walking Dead Talk Through, we discuss Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 10, which is titled Close Your Eyes. It was written by co-executive producer Shintaro Shimosawa and directed by co-executive producer Michael E. Satrazemis. This was a bottle episode, but a good one. It only featured two characters: Alicia and Charlie. Charlie became somewhat less annoying this episode, and Alycia Debnam-Carey got to shine with this episode. Compared to last week, this was definitely a better episode, but, for me, it wasn’t outstanding. Though the acting was spot on, some of the dialog and scenes were a bit too on the nose. While the hurricane was definitely more believable this time around, there was one plot twist that I found a bit of a stretch. Ratings are down… Close Your Eyes got a 0.63 in the 18-49 with 1.855 million viewers, which is down from last week‘s 0.68 and 1.878 million viewers. Charts below. That’s it for Close Your Eyes! Talking Through People Like Us We are back! Fear the Walking Dead Through is back with an analysis of Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 9, which is titled People Like Us. It was written by supervising producer Anna Fishko and directed by Magnus Martens. The story of the mid-season premiere, itself, was decent. The special effects, on the other hand, were among the worst we have seen in the franchise. Of course, we were warned, but there’s nothing like the actual episode to bring out more detail. Ratings were down… People Like Us got a 0.68 in the 18-49 demographic, with 1.878 million viewers, which is down from the mid-season finale‘s 0.73 and 2.320 million viewers. Charts below. This week on Fear The Walking Dead we revisit Madison and her family since the dam explosion in Season 3. There seems to be a pretty strong outcry from the fan community regarding this time jump, and a general disappointment in the plotting of this season already. Most of the resentment seems to be geared towards Scott Gimple and his involvement with the show. However, Jon and I aren't necessarily feeling the hate quite yet. The show has us intrigued enough to keep us invested, even when we are seeing small bits of The Walking Dead's primary problems bleeding into Fear. We're just hoping and praying that Fear keeps it together. Please enjoy this episode of the Fear The Walking Dead Podcast by Fandom Found! The three of us talk about the current state of The Walking Dead, mostly via haiku, and also a rousing discussion of the historical place of violence in the formation of civilized society and how that relates to TWD. Plus, we answer questions that Scott Gimple asked the fans, like whether we think the show portrays people as basically good or bad, what nightmares the show has given us, and which characters we identify with the most, among others. Scott Gimple has been elevated to the new role of Chief Content Officer, overseeing "The Walking Dead" TV universe, which includes "The Walking Dead," "Fear the Walking Dead" and future brand extensions. Writer/co-executive producer Angela Kang will be the new showrunner. All fifteen seasons of ER are now available for streaming on Hulu. As well, George Clooney will make his return to TV — directing and starring in the Hulu six-episode limited series adaptation of "Catch 22," based on Joseph Heller's classic WWII novel. Freeform is rebooting "Party of Five" with a timely immigration twist. The reboot follows the Buendias children as they navigate daily struggles to survive as a family after their parents are suddenly deported back to Mexico. Graham Linehan, the original creator of The IT Crowd, is teaming with NBC to adapt the series for American audiences. This is the network's third attempt to do so. NBC has picked up an untitled Bad Boys spinoff, starring Gabrielle Union. John Cena will host a new game show on Nickelodeon called "Keep It Spotless." According to the press release, it'll have “kids competing in a variety of physical and paint-filled challenges” where the goal is to not touch any paint. Curtis: I just want to believe that the indomitable human spirit has propelled man out to the stars, that C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate, that signals from buried monoliths have sent us to Saturn or Jupiter or wherever. FEAR THE WALKING DEAD Season 3, Episode 5 "Burning in Water, Drowning in Flame" Written by Suzanne Heathcote Directed by Daniel Stamm Timothy: Huh. Dustin: What? Timothy: This episode of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD was directed by Daniel Stamm. He directed THE LAST EXORCISM. Dustin: Didn't we all go see that in the theater? We liked it, as I recall. Timothy: We did. One of the few found footage horror films I've ever liked, actually. Dustin: As opposed to PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. Which we laughed through. We got some nasty looks from the other audience members. Timothy: Well, it was awful. Curtis: Made a ton of money though. Timothy: That it did. Hey folks! It's your usual motley crew of miscreants what recorded a podcast about the dead that fear the walking, here again to ramble on for almost the same amount of time it takes to actually watch an episode of this very show we review. Mindy: There was that 30 minute idea that was almost a recurring thing. Almost. Curtis: There are four of us now. And based on how much Tim cut out of the podcast, we digress like... crazy digressing people. Mindy: About 15 minutes? Timothy: Yeah. Mostly things that Man Was Not Meant to Know. Mindy: So most of the sex stuff. Dustin: It was so wrong this week, people. SO VERY WRONG. Curtis: Funny as hell, though. Timothy: Oh yeah. But not fit for man or beast. We were quite inappropriate. Mindy: There is a sexual undercurrent in the show though. Dustin: Oh, this episode was all about the sex. Even when it wasn't about the sex, it was about the sex. And that's not entirely a good thing. Curtis: Yeah, I really didn't think too much of this one. It wasn't bad, but it was a letdown after the last few. But hey, you guys listen to us talk about it, and then tell us what you think, OK? OK.

FEAR THE WALKING DEAD Season 3, Episode 4 "100" Written by Alan Page Directed by Alex Garcia Lopez Timothy: So here's what concerns me... Dustin: That FEAR THE WALKING DEAD has actually become a well-written show that we're enjoying, and it's going to get our hopes up and then crush them beneath a return to the awfulness that we have endured lo these previous two seasons? Curtis: "Lo"? Really? Dustin: I am waxing poetic. Mindy: This is a legitimate concern, at least based on what you two have been saying. Of course, I have just started watching this show, so I haven't had to suffer the way you two have. Or at least the way you two say you have. Repeatedly. Dustin: It's been a terrible burden to bear. Mindy: Mmm hmmm. Dustin: IT IS A TERRIBLE BURDEN, MINDY. Curtis: So what's this concern, Tim? Timothy: Well, I've been looking at the viewing numbers. When the show debuted, it had about 10 million viewers, which fell to a little less than 7 million by the end of the first season. Dustin: This does not surprise me. At all. Timothy: The second season started with about 6.5 million viewers, and ended with about 3 million. Curtis: Ouch. Dustin: At all surprised, I am not. Mindy: And this season? Timothy: This season kicked off with just over 5 million, which became 4.8 million by the second episode. We don't have the +3 and +7 numbers for the 3rd and 4th episode yet, but their live numbers have fallen every episode. Dustin: Wait, we've only had three Fear the Walking Dead nights... oh. Curtis: They were losing viewers on the first night the show came back, between the first and second episodes. That aired back to back. Timothy: Yeah. FEAR THE WALKING DEAD has had four well-written, well-acted, actually good episodes this season... Mindy: And fewer and fewer viewers. Timothy: Exactly. Dustin: I'm not sure how I feel about being in the position of defending this show, but we are, and we do, and here is the podcast thing we do. Listen while we say nice things about a show we've hated while it's good and we're hoping it stays that way. LISTEN!

Dustin: Tim is... still here! Timothy: Wow. That was enthusiastic. Dustin: I see you every week. We don't see Curtis as much as we used to, so it's special when he's here. And Mindy still laughs at my jokes. Curtis: Thanks, Dustin. It's good to be here. Although I came here more to hang out with my friends than watch whatever this show is. Mindy: I've never watched FEAR THE WALKING DEAD before, and to be honest, watching you two watch the show is as entertaining as the show is, if not more. You make the most interesting faces. Timothy: This show does inspire reactions. Although, we aren't hating it as much as we thought we would, based on the previous seasons. Dustin: All twelve thousand seasons of this show. Timothy: Two seasons. This is season three. Dustin: TWELVE THOUSAND SEASONS, TIM. Mindy: You can kind of see Dustin aging in real-time as he watches it. Dustin: And that's with me not hating everything that happens. Timothy: Heh. Yeah, it says something that not hating the show is the baseline we're going with here. Anyway, sit back and listen as we talk about all the things happening on the third episode of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD's third season... Curtis: Sit back and listen to us laugh a lot. Mindy: Sit back and listen to Tim bleep out all the swearing a lot. Dustin: AND check out our other podcasts, and our new Twitch channel, and do that YouTube thing that gets us more cool YouTube things. Timothy: Follow us on YouTube! Season 3, Episode 1 “Eye of the Beholder” Written by Dave Erickson Directed by Adam Bernstein Season 3, Episode 2 “The New Frontier” Written by Mark Richard Directed by Stefan Schwartz Dustin: Ross McCall is the actor who played Steven. Timothy: Aaaaaand who is Steven? Dustin: The soldier guy you thought was the crazy soldier guy from the Fear the Walking Dead webisodes. I told you it wasn't him. Timothy: So you did. You do have to admit though, he did kinda look like the crazy guy. Dustin: The crazy guy was Colton, played by Michael Mosley. They only kind of look alike, but considering both of them are buried under dirt and scruff, I suppose if you squint real hard. Timothy: I just figured it was the the crossover bit for the two. Like the 30 seconds between the second season and the kids from the airplane webisodes. Dustin: That was pretty stupid. Surprisingly, these episodes weren't. They were actually good. I was engaged. I WAS ENGAGED. Timothy: I know, it's... confusing. We've been so used to hating this show, that having two episodes back to back that we liked was pretty unexpected. There's still the chance they could screw it up, but I'm not actually complaining that we enjoyed the premiere. Dustin: There were a few moments of the stupid, but overall, we did. Timothy: Weird. Dustin: Weird and scary. Timothy: But we do weird and scary here, so that's OK too. And for more weird and scary, and also fun and informative, check out all our other podcasts on SciFi4MeRadio... Dustin: Because bicycles are eminently sensible means of transportation in this world of The Walking Dead. This world where you bitch constantly about the fact that all the gas would have expired years ago, so none of the cars we see all the time would actually work. Timothy: Constantly? Dustin: All the time. You say it all the time. Timothy: Not all the... Dustin: All the time. Timothy: Fine. I have said it, from time to time. And there were people on bicycles. Terrible people. Dustin: The worst people. And we talk about all the worst people on the season finale! On our podcast! Right here! Zombpocalypse Now! We even have a sponsor! THE WALKING DEAD Season 7, Episode 14 "The Other Side" Written by Angela Kang Directed by Michael E. Satrazemis Dustin: I see what you did there. Timothy: You mean posting a picture that is from the scene we didn't talk about this week? The scene where Jesus offhandedly confirms that the TV version of the character is, like his comic counterpart, a gay man? Where he and Maggie talk about the need to connect with the people around you, and make a community stronger by those connections? Dustin: Yeah, that scene. How did we not talk about that scene? It was handled really well. Timothy: I honestly don't know. I had planned to, and then somehow we didn't. It was a good scene though, and there are lots of people all over the internet talking about it and saying so. Not us, apparently, but still. Dustin: I suppose we just did. Timothy: Better late I suppose. We also didn't talk about the confrontation between Jesus and Gregory, and the undercurrent of impending violence. Dustin: You mean the way that Gregory is sabotaging himself, and all but pushing Jesus into backing Maggie in taking over Hilltop, something that Jesus is already inclined to do? Timothy: That, yes. We didn't talk about that either. What did we talk about this week? Dustin: All the other things, Tim. ALL THE OTHER THINGS. In fact, weren't we going to be aiming for the 35-minute episode length for these podcasts? Wasn't that the plan? Timothy: Yeeeaaahhh. Kinda hit and miss there, aren't we? Dustin: Kinda. A bit. Timothy: Yeah. Anyway, thanks for listening folks, and please share, rate and comment wherever you listen to this thing we do. THE WALKING DEAD - Season 7, Episode 8 "Hearts Still Beating" - Written by Matthew Negrete & Channing Powell, Directed by Michael E. Satrazemis Timothy: So you may have noticed that this week's episode of Zompocalypse Now is out earlier than usual. Dustin: Considering that "usual" means "hopefully before the next episode airs", that's kind of vague. Ish. Timothy: Sadly true. But starting this week, we're going to a Tuesday release schedule, which means there are going to be a few changes. Some big, some small. Dustin: Like less editing. Which means you get to hear us say "um" and "ahhh" and repeat ourselves more. Timothy: More weird digressions that I have mercifully spared you, our valued listeners. Dustin: More swearing. Timothy: Well... maybe. I'm going to be spending a lot less time than I have been cleaning up our mad ramblings, and you, oh valued listeners, get more of us unfiltered and a lot more timely. I will be watching our swearing, because while we are not reviewing a show that is all ages, we are trying to keep things more or less accessible to all audiences. More or less. Dustin: We will be providing a "May Contain Adult Nastiness" warning, both here and in the podcast itself. Of course, this is The Walking Dead we're talking about here. You know, the show with the swearing and the heads being bashed in on camera. Timothy: That's the one. So sit back and take a listen to the first of our somewhat less-refined yet more-timely episode of Zombpocalypse Now, as we talk about the mid-season finale of THE WALKING DEAD. Dustin: And next week, TEEN WOLF! Timothy: Indeed. Next week we talk about the Wolves Who Are Teens. Dustin: I AM SO EXCITED. Timothy: Clearly. We hope you enjoy the newish format and timetable, and please rate us and say nice comment things on iTunes and Podcasts.com. It helps people find the show, and let's us know what you like and don't like about the show. Thanks!

You all know exactly who we are. Yeah you do. Now. Say our name. You're god damn right! This episode we're joined by Jason's former Breaking Bad 'Cast co-host Lissy to (finally) cover the episodes 4-8 of the final season of that excellent show. For the uninitiated, don't worry, we also talk about a lot of TWD- and zombie-related stuff, including our thoughts on the newly announced showrunner, Scott Gimple. And we throw in some non-sequiturial chatter for good measure. Microbrew anyone? This episode I sit down with Scott Gimple, producer and writer on AMC's The Walking Dead. Scott and I met while playing Left 4 Dead a few years ago. Scott and I talk about his career writing shows like Fast Forward with David Goyer and the recent Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance. And of course we talk about The Walking Dead. How does he deal with fan criticism as both a writer and a fan? Also, Scott gives advice to Geekscapists looking to start a TV writing career!
