Ampersand Month concludes with an episode of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman called "Ghosts." Newly married Lois and Clark are settling into their new brownstone when a neighbor decides to sell her house due to a persistent haunting. Soon, the Kents themselves experience a specter. Clark suspects a more mundane reason for the problem, but Lois takes the ghost at her word. Meanwhile, a real estate hustler who owes the local Irish mob a lot of money tries to steer the ghost toward his own ends. Will he succeed or will Lois outsmart everyone? Oh, and the episode features special guests as the hustler and the ghost. Erik discovers episode director Robert Ginty also starred in the fabulously cheesy movie Warrior of the Lost World. He and Justin consider the difference between good, important films and movies to be enjoyed with repeat viewings. Comic book discussions abound with Justin recalling how he indoctrinated someone to superhero comics, the earliest comic book storyline Erik read, and an appreciation of artist Jim Aparo. The pair pitch a Doc Savage movie with Tom Hardy and Rahul Kohli. Dean Cain continues to get the ribbing he deserves while other Superman actors get praise. Erik and Justin differ on Teri Hatcher's Lois Lane and Barry Allen ruins Iris's chances to be a dependable private eye.

Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast, we are talking to Kristi Callan, daughter of actress and author K Callen. That's K as in the letter, no period. We talk to Kristi about her mother's 50+ year career in stage, film, television and commercials in everything from an iconic All in The Family episode to the recent Knives Outbuzzed about film. Along the way we talk about Sanka commercials, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Carnivale, American Gigolo, Deep Space Nine, A Touch of Class, The Onion Field and much more. We even discuss a long lost Benson & Hedges cigarette commercial. You remember the ‘healthy' cigarette! We also take time to discuss Kristi's musical career in bands like Wednesday Week, The Roswell Sisters, Goat Deity, Dime Box Band and even aCheap Trick cover band, Cheap Chick. We hit upon everything from Hootenanny's, several cross country moves, a great Norman Lear story, the LA punk rock scene of the late seventies, early eighties, The Ramones recognizing her mother on a flight, seeing Eddie Van Halen on the set of One Day at a Time, meeting The Brady Bunch's Christopher Knight, long lost LA venues like The Starwood and the Music Machine and much more. It's evident from this interview just how much Kristi loves her mother who is going strong and sill acting at age 87. So much so, Kristi barely wanted to talk about her own career and wanted to focus almost exclusively on her mother alone. But we persevered and got her to talk about it all on this brand new episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast. Everyone has a story.

In 1993, Cain took on his biggest role to date as Superman in the television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, which ran until 1997.In 1998, Cain started the Angry Dragon Entertainment production company, which produced the TBS Superstation television series Ripley's Believe It or Not!. He has also starred in several films, including The Broken Hearts Club (2000), Out of Time (2003) and Bailey's Billions (2004). The inspiring biopic of hope, faith and racial reconciliation is slated to open in 200+ markets on Oct. 21 through Integrity Releasing with Home Entertainment release to launch on Dec. 6. The film stars Linda Purl, Nancy Stafford, Ryan O'Quinn, Shari Rigby, Josef Cannon and Dean Cain."Paul's Promise" is the debut project to be released under the newly-announced Damascus Road multi-picture pact with film executive, producer and financier Mike Ilitch, Jr., who has committed to a slate of films, many already in the production and distribution process, with a broad forthcoming slate to also soon be announced."Inspiring audiences through entertainment has always been a goal for our companies," said Ilitch. "This true story of one man's journey of transformation that impacted generations fits perfectly with our brand and the stories we are sharing with the world."Hollywood veterans Ryan O'Quinn and Heather O'Quinn of Damascus Road Productions and Uptone Pictures' Michael Davis lead the charge in producing "Paul's Promise," a powerful and timely biopic about the former racist firefighter-turned-pastor in the height of the 1960s Civil Rights movement. Nick Logan and Ty Nsekhe also serve as executive producers."It is truly a highlight of my career to bring this story to the big screen," says O'Quinn. "One man's decision to serve God and stand up to injustice continues to make a huge impact on his community to this day."The film chronicles Paul Holderfield, Sr.'s life, who was raised poor and knew what it was like to go to bed hungry and hear his mother pray at night for food for her children. In the 1950's, during the Little Rock Central High School crisis, Holderfield was a North Little Rock fireman and remembers turning his back on a Black man, hoping he would not recognize him, but he did. His childhood best friend Jimmy Lipkin approached Paul for a handshake, but Holderfield put his hands in his back pockets and refused to shake Lipkin's hand.Later convicted by his actions, Holderfield told his wife Barbara that he would never again treat a human being that way. Ultimately, Holderfield started Friendly Chapel and F.L.A.M.E. (Feeding and Loving All Men Equally) to help others and spent the rest of his life giving back to anyone in need. As he put it: "We came into the neighborhood when they did not want us and stayed until they could not do without us."Fully dedicated to meeting people's needs, Holderfield built an organization that has been serving others for 30+ years, meeting the nutritional (through a soup kitchen/food pantry) emotional, physical (clothing, shelter), spiritual and health needs of others 24/7, 365 days a year."'Paul's Promise' shares the hope and healing of Holderfield's life during a troubled time in our Nation's history," says Executive Producer Nick Logan. "His life's work continues to this day through his family and his son, Paul Holderfield, Jr."Damascus Road Productions, Uptone Pictures and SaltShaker Media are entertainment and media production companies dedicated to producing and distributing high-quality content across all platforms. For more information, please visit www.paulspromisemovie.comHere's the trailer:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZ-sZfI1ItA

Starring Sean Young (DUNE, BLADE RUNNER), T.C. "In a time of bitter division and acrimony in our country, our creative team thought it was an appropriate time to release a movie based on the true story of a community coming together in a literally miraculous way," said Art Ayris, CEO of Kingstone Studios, which produced the film. "The Orlando ABC affiliate had previously done eight feature stories plus M6 in France and Japan's Nippon television had all journeyed to Florida to do stories. We realized this was a story with appeal far beyond central Florida and needed to be told in a way that only a motion picture can communicate. Though the movie has a few fictional components and characters, it is closely based on the true story," Ayris added. Distributed by Fathom Events, NO VACANCY is directed by Kyle Saylors. His documentary KIMJONIGILA was the first film ever screened at the U.S. Capitol private theater and led to a congressional hearing and the first sanctions against the North Korean prison camps. NO VACANCY is written by Ayris, whose production credits include Best TV Movie Hollywood's Next Success contest; Best Feature Florida Film & Television; Best Feature Angel Awards, graphic adaptation, for SONY Affirm theatrical release The Remaining; and over 60 comic, animation and film credits. An American writer and actress best known for originating the story and characters in the "Before Sunrise" trilogy with her writing on Before Sunrise 1995 and Before Sunset 2004 for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and a Writers Guild Award. The trilogy is based on characters she created with Richard Linklater. Before Sunrise is a 1995 romantic drama film directed by Richard Linklater and co-written by Linklater and Kim Krizan. The first installment in the Before trilogy, it follows Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Céline (Julie Delpy) as they meet on a Eurail train and disembark in Vienna to spend the night together.Inspired by personal experiences, Linklater collaborated with Krizan, who previously appeared in his films Slacker (1991) and Dazed and Confused (1993), to develop the screenplay. Casting was extensive; it took nine months for Hawke and Delpy to be cast, with the pair also contributing uncredited rewrites. Principal photography took place entirely in Vienna.Their contrasting ideas and perspectives on life and love are detailed, with Jesse, a romantic disguised as a cynic, and Céline seemingly a romantic. Before Sunrise also explores time and self-discovery.Before Sunrise premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 19, 1995, and was theatrically released eight days later.Krizan currently resides in Los Angeles, where she writes and teaches writing courses, most notably at UCLA. Tread Perilously -- Lois & Clark The New Adventures Of Superman: When Irish Eyes Are Killing

Tread Perilously rounds out SuperJune with a look at Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and its third season episode, "When Irish Eyes Are Killing." After Clark decides he loves Lois too much to date her, their sniping is overheard by Lois's old flame, Patrick Sullivan. As it happens, he's come to Metropolis to deal with some old family business. Meanwhile, a string of antique robberies and ritual killings might be related. But do their Irish connections have anything to do with Sullivan, who is also looking to rekindle his affair with Lois? Also, will Clark realize he's being stupid? Erik and Justin immediately launch into Geography Corner. They also rate the Superman actors of television. Dean Cain gets raked over the coals for his acting and his acting only. The sniping between Lois and Clark proves grating. The "will they/won't they" aspect of the show gets examined, as does the Ron Silver quality of this week's villain. The "Oirish" accent gets a workout. The pair get lost talking what sort of sub-compact Clark Kent would've drove in the 1990s, the Post-Crisis Superman, and Superman III's "Bad Superman." Also, Justin rallies against the notion of ritual killing in a Superman show.

We've previously discussed the impact of the storyline from the early 1990's where DC Comics decided to kill off Superman. But what if that iconic moment from comics history never happened? What would become of the Superman character, the comic book industry, Shaquelle O'Neil's movie career, and clickbait news articles?  Music and audio from "Headline News for September 15, 1992" is the property of CNN. The Summer stretch continues with another Preacher episode along with yet another Bonus Retro Pick. Can you dig it? Preacher: In flashbacks we saw Tulip and Jesse lose a baby after getting screwed by Carlos. They tried living a life without crime and both became depressed and miserable. They split up. Jesse headed back to Annville to start preaching and Tulip moved to New Orleans and ended up marrying Victor until she got a lead on Carlos's whereabouts. In the present, all of Victor's goons remained frozen by Genesis while Jesse figured out what to do with Victor. Meanwhile, Tulip brought Victor's daughter, Allie, back to Dennis's place and punched Cassidy for blabbing. Cassidy went over to the mansion and was able to convince Jesse to let Victor live in exchange for divorce papers. Last Minute Reveal: The Saint of Killers busted into Vic's mansion killing everyone except Allie, who gave up where to find Jesse!   Retro Pick   Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman S04E06 "The People vs. Lois Lane" 10/26/1996

I can also tease he won't be going back alone.” Link:http://ew.com/tv/2017/02/24/spoiler-room-arrow-shield-blacklist/   Arrow's Stephen Amell addresses idea of Dinah-Oliver romance (Date: 28 Feb 2017) After the shocking death of Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), some fans of the comics were disheartened by the fact that Oliver (Stephen Amell) would not end up with the Black Canary — in the comics, Oliver married Dinah Laurel Lance, the character portrayed by Cassidy on Arrow. That all changed when Juliana Harkavy was added to the cast as Dinah Drake, otherwise known in the comics as the first Black Canary. However, that doesn't necessarily mean there will be a Green Arrow-Black Canary romance, especially considering the show has never been beholden to the comics. “The idea that Oliver would end up with the Black Canary being Katie Cassidy or any new iteration thereof? To me, it could happen, it could not, but it's certainly not destined to happen or predesigned to happen,” Amell tells EW. Teri Hatcher has already been confirmed to debut later this season in an as-yet unspecified villain role.It doesn't take much to connect those dots, and arise at the natural question: Will “Supergirl” feature an on-screen reunion between Cain and Hatcher, who starred in “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” from 1993 to 1997?  “We'd love to,” “Supergirl” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said of a Cain/Hatcher scene on “Supergirl.” “There's a plan — if we can execute the plan.”   Link:http://www.cbr.com/supergirl-dean-cain-teri-hatcher-lois-and-clark-reunion/   EP HOPES FOR ‘TRUE FOUR-WAY' ARROWVERSE CROSSOVER (Date: 24 Feb 2017) For the next full-scale Arrowverse crossover — which is tradition holds, will likely be in the fall — the creative forces behind the show are hoping to fully involve all four series, according to Andrew Kreisberg, an executive producer on each one of the shows. With the early renewals, Kreisberg explained, the shows can take advantage of pre-planned off-days in production to accommodate the cast members who are appearing on multiple shows in a short time, something that was particularly difficult last year with “Supergirl,” since series lead Melissa Benoist appeared in both a normal episode of her show, and then as a guest on “The Flash,” ‘Arrow' and ‘Legends.' ‘Supergirl' was the show we needed to shut down the most, and it was the one we didn't have any opportunity to,” Kreisberg said. “So now that we've gotten the early pick up and we've started designing the seasons, we're building in those dark days — and actually more dark days on ‘Supergirl' than the other shows — to make it a little easier.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/andrew-kreisberg-hopes-four-way-arrowverse-crossover-supergirl-flash-arrow-legends/    ‘Black Lightning' Finds Its Lead: Cress Williams Cast As Jefferson In the CW Pilot (Date: 24 Feb 2017) Hart of Dixie alum Cress Williams is back at the CW as the title character in Black Lightning, the network's DC drama pilot from Greg Berlanti, king of the CW's DC universe, and the Being Mary Jane duo of Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil. Link:http://deadline.com/2017/02/black-lightning-cress-williams-cast-jefferson-cw-pilot-1201971415/    ‘Black Lightning': Nafessa Williams & China Anne McClain To Star As Jefferson's Daughters In the CW Pilot (Date: 02 March 2017) Nafessa Williams (Code Black) and China Anne McClain (House of Payne) have landed leads opposite Cress Williams in Black Lightning, the CW's DC drama pilot.McCain plays Jefferson's younger daughter, the teenage Jennifer Piere, an independent, outspoken scholar-athlete with a wild streak of her own. Williams is Anissa Pierce — passionate and quick-witted, Jefferson's twenty-something daughter balances the demands of medical school with her job teaching part-time at her father's school. In the DC comics, Anissa and Jennifer follow in their father's footsteps and become superheroes, taking on the names of Thunder and Lightning, respectively.   Link:http://deadline.com/2017/03/black-lightning-daughters-cast-nafessa-williams-china-anne-mcclain-cw-pilot-1202034638/   Supergirl Producer Talks Earth-38 Arrowverse Dopplegangers (Date: 27 Feb 2017) Supergirl's setting on an alternate Earth (Earth 38 to be specific) already placed it within the DC TV Multiverse - yet we haven't run into dopplegangers of DC TV characters from Earth's 1 and 2. That's something of interesting flaw in continuity, so will it be something that Supergirl will address? According to executive producer Andrew Kriesberg: it won't be. According to Kriesberg, “the problem with that is if we do that once, we're going to open the floodgates of insanity." According to Kriesberg, it would take “a really good story” for Supergirl to get alternate versions of Barry or Oliver on the show; or conversly, an alternate version of Kara on Earth 1. In short: it would have to be an event. Link:http://comicbook.com/2017/02/27/supergirl-earth-38-dopplegangers-flash-arrow-legends/   IRIS WEST WILL HAVE A KEY ROLE IN FLASH/SUPERGIRL MUSICAL EPISODE (Date: 01 March 2017) Co-showrunner Aaron Helbing revealed that Iris West (Candice Patton) will have a big part to play in the adventure. “She plays a pretty key role in the musical episode. The story really centers around Iris,” said Helbing. “Aside from Barry and Kara, Iris plays a huge role in the musical.” The episode will also feature songs from “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's” Rachel Bloom and the “La La Land” songwriting duo of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Link:http://www.cbr.com/iris-west-flash-supergirl-musical-episode/   Supergirl taps iZombie star as potential DC villain (Date: 01 March 2017) Rahul Kohli, who plays medical examiner Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti on The CW zombie series, will play Jack Spheer, a charismatic tech genius who has spent decades working on a medical innovation that will eradicate major illnesses and change the face of the world – if it works. In the comics, Spheer's invention mutated him into the villain known as Biomax, who had the power of mind control. It's unclear whether his character on the show will follow the same path. Kohli will appear in episode 18, titled “Ace Reporter,” which executive producer Andrew Kreisberg recently revealed will heavily feature Kara's journalism side. Link:http://ew.com/tv/2017/03/01/supergirl-rahul-kohli-izombie/   ARROW CAST & CREW NEWS ARROW'S LEXA DOIG EXPLAINS WHAT MAKES TALIA AL GHUL A TRUE BADASS (Date: 01 March 2017) A lethal assassin in her own right, in DC Comics' lore, Talia has been an ally, a lover and an enemy to Batman. As there is no Batman in the Arrowvrse, this Talia instead finds herself involved with Green arrow. This season, it's been revealed that she was the one who rescued Oliver from Ishmael Gregor and then proceeded to push him into fulfilling his destiny. Talia has trained Oliver, but she's also an al Ghul. Can she be trusted? Does the apple fall far from the psychotic family tree? Doig recently spoke with CBR about making Talia a badass, mentoring Oliver, her possible connections to Prometheus and the inevitable showdown with Nyssa. Link:http://www.cbr.com/interview-arrow-lexa-doig-talia-al-ghul/   ARROW'S PROMETHEUS SPEAKS OUT ABOUT HIS STUNNING IDENTITY REVEAL (Date: 01 March 2017) Speaking to CBR and other reporters, Segarra opened up about his role as Prometheus and how he balanced Adrian Chase's two very different identities. He also shared some stories about how and when he learned about the big twist, as well as why he studied up on Vigilante before arriving in Vancouver to start filming Season 5. “I'm telling them, ‘Oh, I'm playing this guy… I don't really know too much about him, but who knows? It'll be fun, right?' And then they announced Adrian Chase: Vigilante. And I'm like, ‘Oh my gosh, I'm playing Vigilante!' So now, I get to Vancouver, I think I'm playing this guy Vigilante. That's who everybody thought, right? So I start reading ‘Vigilante' comics and reading about Chase and reading about the history of these guys. Then I get to work and I'm talking to Marc. I'm like, ‘Marc, man, I'm really doing my research. I'm really being studious about this Vigilante guy.' And he's like, ‘What do you mean?' And I'm like, ‘Oh, dude, you announced it finally! I'm going to be a great Adrian Chase: Vigilante!' And he says, ‘That's not who you're playing.' ‘What?!' He's like, ‘Yeah, you're playing this guy.' And that's when they took me out on the city and they told me everything. So, to put it this way, me and my wife and my doggie, we moved over to Vancouver thinking one thing and it was revealed once I got here who I was actually playing. That whole journey began at that moment. I feel I'll always look back and laugh at this.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/arrow-prometheus-josh-segarra-adrian-chase-fighting-fire-with-fire-susan-williams-oliver-queen-artemis-interview/   ARROW EP WENDY MERICLE ADDRESSES PROMETHEUS' IDENTITY & MOTIVATIONS (Date: 01 March 2017) In the wake of this stunning reveal, executive producer Wendy Mericle spoke to CBR and other reporters about what's in store for Team Arrow now that Prometheus' identity is out in the open. She addressed why she and the other showrunners made Chase Prometheus instead of Vigilante, why those chose now to make this reveal, what drives Chase to torture Oliver Queen and more. Why make Chase Prometheus instead of Vigilante? “I think one of the reasons we did that was because everyone would be thinking, “Of course he's Vigilante!” Adrian Chase is Vigilante in the comic books, as you pointed out, and we thought it would be a really fun sort of twist to do what we've always done on the show, which is to take the comic book mythology and turn it on its head and see what kind of story we could mine from a surprise like that. It was also just something different for this season. We wanted to change up how we introduced the big bad and change up when we did it and how we did it. Hopefully, we succeeded in that this year.” She also said that Prometheus is going to mess with Lance as well. Link:http://www.cbr.com/arrow-wendy-mericle-promtheus-reveal-adrian-chase-josh-segarra-susan-williams-interview/       GREEN ARROW COMICS & TOY NEWS FUNKO UNVEILS WONDER WOMAN MOVIE TOY LINE (Date: 17 Feb 2017) While the average Funko comic character is brightly colored, this version of Wonder Woman is tinted sepia; with the Pop! and Rock Candy figures, you feel as if you're looking at her through a photo filter. That certainly appears to match the aesthetic of director Patty Jenkins' film. Also notable is Diana's weapons of choice: Although her famed Lasso of Truth is slung on her belt, she wields a sword and shield, emphasizing her role as a warrior. In addition to the Amazon Princess, there will also be Pop! figures of Steve Trevor and Queen Hippolyta. The last time we saw the city on Arrow was when Esrin Fortuna helped Oliver take on Damien Darhk...and of course, when Hub City started to show up in showrunner Marc Guggenheim's tweets this year, there was plenty of speculation that he was teasing The Question. Turns out, he was teasing the Black Canary! BIG BELLY BURGER - Big Belly Burger, a fictional fast-food restaurant in the DC Universe, is the fast food of choice for people who are in hiding, in jail, or otherwise cut off from the world on The Flash. Here, we saw Team Arrow hanging out there in Hub City while Felicity got it delivered to her in the Arrowcave during her side quest. FAMILY SECRET - When Talia refers to her agelessness as a "family secret," it's the kind of cutesy clue that Nyssa used to drop in her early appearances, where she didn't directly name-drop Ra's al Ghul or the Lazarus Pit, but made references that were pretty clear to people in the know. Back then, of course, we always wondered whether Ra's would ever make an appearance. Now, he's come and gone, and we know that this kind of vague dialogue is mostly to keep continuity tidy so that Oliver doesn't realize exactly who he's dealing with when Ra's and Nyssa come in later. THE FLASH & CAPTAIN SINGH - In what Marc Guggenheim tweeted was the quickest crossover Arrow has ever done with The Flash, we got to see Barry speed (in costume) into his boss's office to vouch for Green Arrow. What's nice to see is Captain Singh, Barry's boss, who hasn't been seen much this season. It felt a bit like last night, when the long-absent Miss Tessmacher from Supergirl had a quick cameo on The Flash. SONUS - Sean Sonus, alias Discord is a sonic villain who fights Green Arrow and Black Canary. He first appeared in Green Arrow and Black Canary #15, and was co-created by Arrow EP Andrew Kreisberg and artist Mike Norton. DINAH DRAKE - "Dinah Drake" is actually the name of the original/Earth-2 Black Canary, who existed in the comics before Dinah Lance did. ARROW NEWS:   New Arrow Episode Gets A Russian Title As It Begins Production (Date: 30 Jan 2017) Marc Guggenheim, the show's executive producer, shared a cover of the new episode's script, and let fans know that it was beginning production. Episode 17 will be titled 'Kapot', which is a Russian word meaning 'cowl' or 'hood'. Flashbacks reveal how Rene went from simple family man to a hero named Wild Dog. Meanwhile, Oliver (Stephen Amell) must deal with the perpetrator behind the attack and realizes the best way to do so is as Mayor Queen instead of the Green Arrow. Tensions run high in the Arrow bunker. Kristin Windell directed the episode written by Marc Guggenheim (#513). Actually, when TVLine last spoke to Wendy Mericle, the Arrow scribes were in the midst of hashing out a return scenario for Little Miss Benedict Arnold. “We have a really cool, exciting twist for how she's going to reappear,” the EP teased, noting: “The interesting thing about the choices Evelyn has made is that as much as she took the moral high ground when confronting Oliver, she has allied herself with someone who is even worse,” in Prometheus. “She's gone from the frying pan into the fire.” Link:http://tvline.com/2017/01/31/bones-final-season-spoilers-booth-gordon-wyatt/   Wayback Wednesday: Watch The First Ever Trailer For Arrow (Date: 01 Feb 2017) In honor of Wayback Wednesday - and a brand new episode of Arrow tonight - it's about time to take a look back at the first ever trailer for Arrow. This footage was seen in 2012, and it talked a lot about Oliver Queen's return to the real world, after he was thought to be dead. The trailer shows Oliver on the island, beard and all, as well as his assimilation back into society. Link:http://comicbook.com/2017/02/02/wayback-wednesday-watch-the-first-ever-trailer-for-arrow/   ARROW: TINA BOLAND'S REAL NAME WILL BE FAMILIAR TO DC COMICS FANS (Date: 01 Feb 207) “Tina Boland” is her undercover name; her real name is Dinah Drake. If that sounds familiar, that's because Dinah Drake is the name of the original Black Canary. Dinah debuted in 1947's “Flash Comics” #86 as Black Canary. Later, she married a man named Larry Lance and subsequently changed her name to Dinah Lance. Inspired by Dinah, her daughter Dinah Laurel Lance would go on to become a founding member of the Justice League. When the New 52 restarted DC Comics' continuity, the Black Canary legacy was retconned, and Dinah Drake was restored as the one and only Black Canary. This New 52 version of Dinah Drake was formerly married to Kurt Lance, but the two divorced. Link:http://www.cbr.com/arrow-tina-boland-black-canary-dinah-drake/   Arrow: What is Helix? (Date: 01 Feb 2017) Helix was a supervillain group led by Dr. Benjamin Love, aka Mr. Bones. The members were six mutated children who had been experimented on and then kidnapped by Love. They grew up to be a rather bizarre cast of characters, including Kritter (a human/dog hybrid) and Baby Boom (a young child who can cause explosions with her mind). It's safe to assume that any future appearances of Helix will certainly be way more grounded in reality - with any mention of the original characters probably being used as online screennames. This is similar to the inclusion of the secret organization Shadowspire in Arrow, which was given a much more realistic makeover. When recently discussing the dynamic between Felicity and Diggle going forward, Arrow executive-producer Wendy Mericle mentioned that the events in 'Second Chances' will play into the rest of the season. "Part of what kicks [Felicity] off down this darker path is she's going to find evidence to exonerate him -- and [Diggle's] going to have to deal with the fallout of the fact that Felicity is now going down a questionable path in part because of him." With that in mind, there's a very good chance that tonight's episode will not be the last time we hear of Helix on Arrow. Link:http://comicbook.com/2017/02/02/arrow-what-is-helix/    GENERAL DC TV NEWS SUPERGIRL & MARTIAN MANHUNTER UNITE ON ‘MARTIAN CHRONICLES' POSTER (Date: 29 Jan 2017) Unveiled by David Harewood, the teaser for “The Martian Chronicles” depicts the actor as Martian Manhunter alongside Melissa Benoist as the Girl of Steel, accompanied by the tagline, “Worlds Clash. Heroes Unite.” In the episode, a White Martian arrives in National City to capture M'gann and return her to Mars, where she's to be punished as a traitor. Unwilling to allow that to happen, Hank Henshaw and Supergirl bring M'gann to the Department of Extra-Normal Operations for protection, only for circumstances to turn from bad to worse. So there's a fair amount of Flash-ness going on in Legends. I wish I could say that we were so smart to take advantage of the new timeslot and do that, but we weren't that smart. We just had already sort of been doing that organically anyway when we found out about the new timeslot. I will say this: There's a love scene in episode 11 and we were in the editing room on it — it's a love scene, it gets a little steamy — and I was joking, ‘Let's take that 9 p.m. timeslot out for a spin.'” The article has the audio of the interview with Guggenheim. As for when we'll get to see the duo in action, it looks like episode twelve, titled "Untouchable," is a good bet as it'll feature a subplot with the Scarlet Speedster helping Kid Flash elevate his game to the next level. Check out the new "Lightning Strikes Twice" poster. Link:https://www.comicbookmovie.com/tv/dc/the_flash/two-speedsters-are-better-than-one-on-this-electrifying-new-a148532   The Flash: Robbie Amell teases his upcoming return (Date: 29 Jan 2017) Earlier this month, EW exclusively revealed that Robbie Amell is returning to The Flash for an upcoming episode. Details on his return are still scarce, but the actor gave EW a little tease of what to expect. “I was there last week,” he shared at Honda's “Hockey Goes Hollywood” event in Los Angeles. “I can tell you that my scenes are with Grant [Gustin] and Danielle [Panabaker]. And I may or may not be alive.” That last part is key, considering the last we saw of Ronnie, he died as a result of destroying the singularity that opened up the path to Earth-2, where that planet's Ronnie was a villain named Deathstorm. Being back on Flash is always a treat for Amell, who got to catch up with his TV wife and former superhero partner and have his first true Ronnie and Barry scene. Link:http://ew.com/tv/2017/01/29/the-flash-robbie-amell-return/   LEGENDS OF TOMORROW'S LETSCHER TEASES REVERSE FLASH'S PLAN, COLD'S RETURN (Date: 31 Jan 2017) Speaking to CBR, Letscher teased Reverse Flash's plan, and he promised that Thawne's motivation would be “a major reveal” in the next episode of “Legends of Tomorrow.” Letscher also discussed the Legion's dynamic, the upcoming return of Leonard “Captain Cold” Snart, Thawne's important “foreknowledge” of events and more. When asked about Captain Cold, he said, “He is going to be a full-fledged member of the Legion of Doom and be very valuable to them on multiple fronts. Eobard has done his homework in this regard, and he's recruited somebody who's fully on board with the Legion of Doom's mission and he also understands the complications that Captain Cold's relationship with the Legends… the psychological complications that inform Eobard and his plans.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/legends-of-tomorrow-matt-letscher-legion-of-doom-reverse-flash-captain-cold/   KEIYNAN LONSDALE TALKS WALLY'S TRANSFORMATION INTO KID FLASH (Date: 31 Jan 2017) Interview with CBR. When asked about Savitar, he said, “Savitar is the biggest threat that any of them have faced. Fortunately, Barry doesn't have to do this alone. He's always had Team Flash. Other people are getting powers. It's going to take everyone working together to stop him. Wally is super-crucial to that.” Also, he won't be singing in the musical episode. Link:http://www.cbr.com/interview-flash-keiynan-lonsdale-wally-west/?utm_source=CBR-TW&utm_medium=Social-Distribution&utm_campaign=CBR-TW&view=list   Rachel Bloom Wrote A Song For "The Flash" / "Supergirl" Musical Episode (Date: 31 Jan 2017) Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star and creator Rachel Bloom has co-written a song for The CW's upcoming musical crossover between The Flash and Supergirl, BuzzFeed News can exclusively reveal. She wrote “Super Friend,” which will be performed by Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist. The episode will also feature an original song written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, Dear Evan Hansen) called “Runnin' Home to You” that Gustin will perform. Details of her character aren't known, but it's described by the CW as “a mysterious new role that will become the new Big Bad of Season 2.” Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg said of Hatcher's casting, “No offense to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all time favorite Lois Lane. To have her come back to the SuperWorld in a completely different part is an unbelievable gift to me, Greg, and the fans.” Link:http://deadline.com/2017/01/supergirl-teri-hatcher-season-2-cast-recurring-1201898430/   ‘Black Lightning' Drama Eyes Move To the CW To Join Greg Berlanti Comic Lineup (Date: 02 Feb 2017) Deadline has learned that Black Lightning, the high-profile drama based on the DC character, which had a big production commitment at Fox, is on the move and likely to land at the CW. The project comes from Greg Berlanti, king of the CW's DC universe. Fox brass ultimately decided that the superhero show was not a good fit. The CW is home of Berlanti Prods.'s four DC/WBTV superhero series —  Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, which Berlanti also co-created. That makes the network a suitable home for Black Lightning, which would give the CW's DC universe its first major African American superhero. Black Lightning would be the only black superhero toplining his own broadcast series and the second currently on TV, joining Marvel's Luke Cage on Netflix. DC TV Classics returns to discuss the brief short-lived NBC series Constantine, based on the classic Vertigo comic Hellblazer. Keith, Britney, and Desiree share their thoughts on why the show only lasted 13 episodes, its erasure of the lead character's sexuality, and whether the show fits into The CW's DC TV Universe. Speaking of Smallville, they also discuss Tom Welling's recently ended t-shirt campaign for St. Jude's Children's Hospital, which led to a lengthy discussion about Clark Kent and Superman and why Quentin Tarantino is completely wrong (it'll make sense once you listen). This show, however, is dedicated to the return of Young Justice. The trio spends the remainder of the podcast reminiscing about Young Justice and speculate what fans can expect now that the series has been resurrected for a third season. Today's Guest: Tim Hanley, author, Investigating Lois Lane, Wonder Woman Unbound   Watch this exclusive Mr. Media interview with Tim Hanley by clicking on the video player above!  Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience full of young women who changed their initials to L.L. in the hopes of catching Henry Cavill’s eye… in the NEW new media capital of the world… St. Petersburg, Florida! Lois Lane has enjoyed a remarkable run, considering she has been around for more than 75 years in the pages of Superman comic books. But life has never been easy for the journalist best known as “Superman’s Girl Friend, Lois Lane.” TIM HANLEY podcast excerpt: "You get a lot of stereotypes about women when it comes to Lois Lane, a lot of hysterics and very emotional. Superman is the calm, level one throughout whatever emotional relationship ups and downs they have. Whereas Lois has to fly off the handle and instigate the drama for the relationship." You can LISTEN to this interview with TIM HANLEY, author of INVESTIGATING LOIS LAND and WONDER WOMAN UNBOUND, by clicking the audio player above! Seriously, what modern professional woman would want to be introduced that way? After a few days, it would grow old. But as months turned into years and then decades – pushing into a century now – even the most liberated woman with a sense of humor is bound to find it less than funny or ironic. What’s worse, however, is that in her 21st century DC Comics incarnation – thanks to the publisher’s relentless rewriting of history – poor old Lois Lane barely exists in print, having been replaced in Superman’s affections by Wonder Woman. He doesn’t even know that he and Lois were once married! How’s a gal with ink in her veins supposed to compete with an Amazon with a magic lasso, anyway? TIM HANLEY podcast excerpt: "I liked (the 1993-97 ABC-TV series) 'Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman' because Lois never comes off as dumb. It's really easy with the Clark Kent/Superman dynamic for Lois to look like a moron for not figuring it out. In 'Lois & Clark,' she figures it out and then they're partners, which, I think, it the ideal situation for Lois and Clark together." In Tim Hanley’s fascinating history, Investigating Lois Lane: The Turbulent History of the Daily Planet’s Ace Reporter, the author brings together decades of multimedia treatments of the durable reporter – mostly at the hands of male writers, artists and editors – and tries to make sense of the way she has been battered and beaten, loved and lost, since her June 1938 debut in the pages of Action Comics #1. Key interview moments: • 2:50 Lois Lane '"biographer" Tim Hanley describes the ups and downs of his subject across more than 75 years of adventures in comic books, radio, TV and movies; • 13:20 Hanley acknowledges the many negative female stereotypes about women applied to Lois Lane over the decades by male writers, but notes how much better her character fares in the hands of female scribes; • 24:10 Hands down, Hanley thinks many of Lois Lane's best moments can be found in the mid-1990s ABC-TV series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman."
