E212: “It's Over” — Drama in Scotland, Bournemouth End Pep's Title Chase, Pep Exit Rumours & Southampton Expelled (Week in Football)One week after lifting the Premier League title, The Non-Negotiables turn their attention to the rest of football and there was no shortage of stories to unpack.WATG returns for Matchweek 37 as European places tighten, relegation pressure remains alive and attention turns to the final day. Aston Villa edge closer to Champions League football, Bournemouth make more history and questions remain around who joins Europe's biggest stage next season.  North of the border, Celtic secure a 56th league title after late drama against Hearts. The lads discuss what made the Scottish title race feel different this season, whether the Old Firm monopoly was genuinely under threat and reflect on former Arsenal figures involved in the celebrations.  There's also discussion around the changing place of the FA Cup, managerial culture, and the growing feeling that football's traditional landmarks continue to shift.  Then attention turns to the biggest Premier League story of the week. Bournemouth get the result that ends Manchester City's title defence and confirms Arsenal as champions. The conversation moves from the title itself into what comes next — Pep Guardiola's future, succession talk, timing of the reports and what a changing landscape could mean.  Elsewhere, there's reaction to Southampton's extraordinary play-off controversy, wider debate around punishment in football and whether the game has become too comfortable with rule breaches and inconsistent consequences.  Plus final-day permutations, Champions League qualification scenarios and one last look at the relegation battle before the season reaches its conclusion. Chapters:(00:00) - Arteta's Non-Negotiables & Intro(00:18) - Week in Football Introduction & WATG: Matchweek 37(02:33) - Celtic Win Title 56 & Hearts Fall Short(05:02) - Former Gunners & Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Debate(08:10) - Is the FA Cup Losing Its Place?(11:21) - Chelsea, Xabi Alonso & Managerial Chaos Discussion(14:07) - Pep Guardiola Exit Rumours & Manchester City Succession Talk(17:24) - Charges, Legacy & Arteta Beating Pep(22:33) - Slot Stays & Salah's Statement(24:37) - Southampton Expelled From Play-Offs? Dr. Lawrence explains how online behavior can lead to real consequences at school and at home, from posts and videos that bring embarrassment to families to off-campus conflicts that spill into school on Mondays, often forcing administrators to act like investigators instead of instructional leaders. They discuss Dayton's decision to limit student phone use during the school day using pouches or envelopes, the early changes staff are noticing in student behavior, and how excessive screen time can impact mental health, isolation, and identity. Dr. Lawrence also shares practical guidance for students on protecting their online reputation, highlights red flags when strangers online get overly personal, and walks through Dayton's approach to “augmented intelligence,” including how the district is testing tools with guardrails while building community partnerships and mentoring supports to keep students safe and successful online. France's administrative court has thrown out a lawsuit launched by Montreal's Lawee family, who allege the French embassy in Baghdad has been occupying their family's ancestral home, rent-free, for more than fifty years. The Paris-based body ruled against the Jewish family on Feb. 2. in a printed decision, after an in-person hearing last month, The court said it's denying the Canadian family's case because France has immunity for acts done on foreign soil–and because the old lease was signed in the 1960s in the city of Baghdad, so local Iraqi laws apply. The case has garnered international headlines because it involves a much wider story: the historic injustice done to nearly a million Jews from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) who were forced to flee their regimes' growing anti-Israel sentiment after 1948. They were stripped of their citizenship and their assets were seized. The CJN's flagship podcast "North Star" has been following the story since last year, and on today's episode, host Ellin Bessner sits down with Philip Khazzam, the Montreal businessman on a mission to seek justice for what happened to his grandfather's beloved mansion. It's Wednesday, January 28th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Mexican authorities expelled Protestant pastor Authorities in southern Mexico expelled a Protestant pastor from their community this month. The issue began after Pastor Velásquez Martínez refused to participate in a Roman Catholic ritual due to his religious beliefs. Local authorities detained him for five days without charge before expelling him and his family. Evangelical families can face arrest, fines, and expulsion in parts of Mexico for their faith. Mexico is ranked 30th on the Open Doors' World Watch List of the most oppressive countries to be a Christian.  Catholicism declining in Latin America Analysis by Pew Research found that Catholicism has declined in Latin America over the past decade. Catholicism remains the largest religion across Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru. However, it has declined in the region by at least nine percent over the last 10 years. Meanwhile, the religiously unaffiliated have grown rapidly in Latin America. Protestantism has also grown in the region but only by a slight margin. United States withdrew from World Health Organization The United States officially withdrew from the World Health Organization last Thursday. This comes a year after President Donald Trump signed an executive order to initiate the process. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services stated, “This decision was driven by profound failures in the WHO's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic originating in Wuhan, China.” The withdrawal ends U.S. funding for the World Health Organization. The group is also known for its support of abortion and sexually perverted lifestyles. Thousands of California pro-lifers march Tens of thousands of pro-lifers joined the 22nd Annual Walk for Life West Coast in California on Saturday.  Participants filled the streets of San Francisco in the financial district for more than a mile. Rally co-chair Eva Muntean said, “After 22 years I still find it hard to believe how blessed we are. When I see the enormous crowd that we had today—especially so many young people standing up with love and hope for women and children. I am filled with gratitude and hope. You can't come to the Walk without seeing the promise of a better world!” Psalm 27:13-14 says, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the LORD!” Washington man stabbed for being a Christian Sadly, a man suffered an attack over his religion on Sunday morning in Washington state. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office reports they found the man in serious condition. The victim said a stranger approached him and asked what religion he was. He said something about being a Christian. In response, the stranger attacked and stabbed the victim and his dog. The perpetrator died after a confrontation with police.  The Christian Post reports that the victim has been released from a local hospital.  U.S. population down as Trump expels illegals The U.S. population growth rate is slowing as the Trump administration cracks down on illegal immigration.  New data from the U.S. Census Bureau found the population reached nearly 342 million people last year. The 2025 growth rate was half a percent, down from almost one percent in 2024. Christine Hartley with the Census Bureau said, “With births and deaths remaining relatively stable compared to the prior year, the sharp decline in net international migration is the main reason for the slower growth rate we see today.” Geopolitical and economic uncertainly drives gold up. As The Worldview reported yesterday, the price for spot gold reached $5,100 an ounce, a record. That's up 18% so far this year. Ryan McIntyre, president at Sprott Inc., told Reuters, “Gold prices continue to be supported by elevated geopolitical and economic uncertainty. Central banks remain strong buyers as they diversify foreign exchange reserves and reduce reliance on the U.S. dollar.” 100-year-old great grandfather speaks at kindergarten class And finally, CBS News reports that a kindergartener in Georgia recently brought her 100-year-old great-grandfather to class. This was to celebrate K.J. Schmansky's 100th day of school this year at Saint Thomas More School in Decatur. Her great-grandfather, Sonny Ragan, was born on October 8, 1925. He got to share 100 years of wisdom with the young class. When asked what keeps him going, Ragan said it's faith and family. 1 Peter 3:10-11 says, “He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, January 28th, in the year of our Lord 2026. Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com). The trajectory of corruption often begins not with a grand heist, but with a simple dinner, according to the details of a case released on Sunday involving a former high-ranking official. Tang Ren jian, former minister of agriculture and rural affairs, admitted his corruption stemmed from ignoring the Communist Party of China Central Committee's eight-point decision on improving Party and government conduct, according to a freshly aired anti-corruption documentary. My illegal acts began with dining violations," Tang said before the camera, stressing the need to "stay prudent from the start". Coproduced by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the National Supervisory Commission and China Media Group, the four-episode series began airing on Sunday, one day before the opening of the fifth plenary session of the 20th CCDI in Beijing. Previously vice-chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous regional government and governor of Gansu province, Tang was probed in May 2024. The investigation revealed that his social circle, largely built around dining, tea and mahjong, later became thebribery channel, and what started as casual gatherings turned into "interest transfer" hubs. Tang described a psychological shift where he grew accustomed to these luxuries, eventually viewing them as "natural and deserved". As his vigilance dropped, business owners exploited the situation to seek favors. To avoid detection, he first wore masks and hats to hotel dinners, and then moved gatherings to private villas and apartments arranged by entrepreneurs. He also colluded with Li Yong, a Beijing antique dealer, using his shops for "power-for-money" deals. Business owners seeking Tang's influence were instructed to purchase overpriced antiques consigned by Tang through Li, disguising bribes as legitimate transactions. After becoming minister of agriculture and rural affairs, Tang created a WeChat group called "Happy Weekends" comprising his family members and business owners. He also had his son open an upscale restaurant near the ministry. The entrepreneurs funded group events by purchasing membership cards at the restaurant, with Tang organizing the events and the entrepreneurs covering the costs. Starting in 2011, business owners took turns holding lavish birthday parties for him at luxury resorts across the country. The documentary highlights how Tang's poor work conduct directly led to a distorted view of performance. Obsessed with "image projects" to improve his standing, he disregarded local realities in Gansu and insisted on launching chicken farming projects simultaneously in eight counties. Consequently, seven of the projects were suspended, leaving many completed facilities idle or underutilized. Tang, a long-serving official in the agricultural sector, meddled in 37 projects, 27 of which were agricultural. His influence-peddling and frequent dining with subordinates fostered an unhealthy political ecosystem. Even on the eve of being placed under residential surveillance, Tang reportedly attended a late-night drinking session. Expelled from the Party and dismissed from public office in November 2024, Tang was sentenced in September 2025 to death with a two-year reprieve, lifelong deprivation of political rights and confiscation of all property for accepting more than 268 million yuan ($38.4 million) in bribes. The central discipline inspection and national supervision authorities noted that the interweaving of poor work conduct and corruption is a key issue in current efforts to improve Party conduct and combat corruption, urging the simultaneous investigation and rectification of both. Zhuang Deshui, deputy director of Peking University's Research Center of Public Policy, said that efforts to improve conduct and fight corruption were once fragmented. Conduct issues were considered "minor corruption", while anti-corruption efforts targeted "major corruption". The lack of synergy hurt governance efficiency. Many major corruption cases originate from minor misconduct, and rooting out major corruption requires addressing trivial issues first," he said. Over the past year, authorities have piloted initiatives using big data to link work conduct and anti-corruption information channels, enabling cross-verification to cut the source link between unhealthy tendencies and corruption. However, institutional development remains insufficient. Zhuang said strengthening the top-level design of the supervision system and integrating disciplinary, supervisory, inspection, financial and audit oversight to build a unified framework is imperative. Ji Yaping, dean of the School of Administrative Law at Northwest University of Political Science and Law, noted that the core goal of simultaneous investigation and rectification is to eliminate the breeding ground for corruption at its source. He said that unhealthy conduct induces corruption, and correcting such conduct is key to resolving corruption problems. Severe misconduct in cadre selection, for example, can breed cliques, sycophancy and even political fraudsters. Only strict, transparent standards can eradicate this problem, he added. trajectory/trəˈdʒek.tɚ.i/n.(射体在空中的)轨道,轨迹bribery/ˈbraɪ.bɚ.i/n.贿赂;收买entrepreneur/ˌɑːn.trə.prəˈnɝː/n.(尤指涉及风险的)企业家,创业者idle/ˈaɪ.dəl/adj.

Turkey has expelled 350 foreign Christians, Nobel Peace Prize recipient dedicates prize to Trump, 58% of Americans say Bible transformed their lives

It's Wednesday, October 15th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Turkey has expelled 350 foreign Christians Alliance Defending Freedom International reports that officials in Turkey are labeling Christians as national security threats.   Since 2020, the country has expelled about 350 foreign Christians under the guise of “national security.” Many of these believers lived and ministered in the country for decades. Officials are not only keeping foreign Christians out, they are also suppressing churches inside the country. For example, Turkey restricts Bible education and continues to deny legal status to Protestant seminaries. Madagascar Parliament impeaches President after Gen Z protests Youth-led protests have contributed to the unseating of another government—this time in Madagascar, an island country located 250 miles off the coast of Southeast Africa in the Indian Ocean Since September 25, Gen Z  groups have led antigovernment protests. They were protesting over water and power outages as well as poverty and government corruption.  The country's parliament voted Tuesday to impeach President Andry Rajoelina. He has been in power since  2009. The Madagascar Army immediately seized control of the African island nation, promising to create a transitional government.  The Gen Z-Madagascar movement was inspired by youth-led protesters in Kenya last year and in Nepal this year. America boosts Argentinian economy The United States finalized a $20 billion currency swap with Argentina last Thursday. The U.S. move aims at providing economic stability to Argentina as well as keeping China's influence out of the South American country.  Argentinian President Javier Milei thanked the United States. In a post on X. he wrote, “Together, as the closest of allies, we will make a hemisphere of economic freedom and prosperity.” Nobel Peace Prize recipient dedicates prize to President Trump The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2025 to Maria Corina Machado last Friday.  The 58-year-old activist is known for leading the Venezuelan opposition to the governments of Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro. Machado responded to the award on X, saying the recognition was a boost to her work. She also wrote, “I dedicate this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!” U.S. President Donald Trump has been nominated for the peace prize multiple times for his peace deals, especially in the Middle East. To be clear, the deadline for the Nobel Peace Prize handed out in October was January 31, just 11 days after Trump took office. Jesus reminds us of ultimate peace in John 14:27. He said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Trump lays off 4,000 federal employees The Trump administration is laying off over 4,000 federal employees as the government shutdown continues. LifeSiteNews reports the layoffs include people working on Democrat programs like “family planning” and “LGBTQ health” issues. President Trump told a cabinet meeting that he would use the shutdown to cut Democrat programs. Listen. TRUMP: “Despite all of the damage that it's caused, the shutdown has been pretty damaging, not yet, because it's early, but it gets a little bit worse as it goes along. And we'll be making cuts that will be permanent. And we're only going to cut Democrat programs.” 58% of Americans say Bible transformed their lives The American Bible Society released the latest chapter of its State of the Bible USA 2025 report.  The study found that 36% of U.S. adults believe the Bible is totally accurate in all the principles it presents. And 58% say the Bible has transformed their lives.  Meanwhile, 24% of Americans say the Bible is just another book of teachings written by people that contains stories and advice. A majority of those also say the Bible was written to control or manipulate people. But Psalm 18:30 says, “As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.” Monster pumpkin weighs 2,346 pounds And finally, a California engineer won a pumpkin-growing contest held on Monday in Half Moon Bay, south of San Francisco.  Brandon Dawson's monster pumpkin weighed in at a whopping 2,346 pounds, over 300 pounds ahead of the next contestant. He is now the champion of the 2025 Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off. Dawson told the Associated Press his kids loved the process. DAWSON: “Oh, it's very much a family affair, especially as the kids -- my kids are four and two, and especially my four-year-old, especially now can really pay attention to the growing process. I think both of them might have interest in doing it in their future. “We like to spend time out in the patch and watch the thing grow when it's picking up 50 to 70 pounds a day. You can really see it growing day over day.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, October 15th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Follow us on X  or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.  I' m Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com). Independence, Missouri, was to be the culmination of the Saints' dreams and revelations for the establishment of Zion in the last days. Many were obedient and gave everything they had to create Zion and others were disobedient and lacked Faith. A number of mistakes were made by the Saints and the Missourians. The results were tragic. What went wrong in Missouri? Was the prophet Joseph Smith wrong about the revelations he received? Why did the Lord send the Saints to Independence, if he knew they would fail? If the failure of the establishment of Zion was due to sin, what sins did the Saints commit that brought them such horrible troubles? As relations between the Saints and the Missourians soured, Jackson County leaders demanded a meeting. At the July 20th meeting, the Jackson County leaders gave the Saints a list of demands: 1) No more Mormonites could settle in Jackson County. 2) Those already in the county must sell their property and leave as soon as possible. 3) Printing of 'The Evening and the Morning Star' must stop immediately. 4) The church storehouse and shops must close as soon as possible. Not knowing exactly what to do and needing to seek the prophet's counsel, Bishop Edward Partridge asked for three month stay to communicate with the Prophet in Ohio. The Missouri leaders refused. In the end, they gave the Bishop fifteen minutes to decide to accept the terms. His unwillingness to obey the order led to him being tarred and feathered in front of the Independence courthouse. The expulsion of the Saints from Missouri had begun. Join Lynne Hilton Wilson and professor Janiece Johnson as they discuss the details behind this exciting and tragic period of Church History.
