There's no one like Rick Rubin. He's a legendary music producer known for his minimalist approach and relentless pursuit of greatness. Designing a product is keeping 5,000 things in your brain and fitting them all together in new and different ways. (Steve Jobs) Rubin's most valuable quality is his own confidence. If we're going to do this, let's aim for greatness. You have to believe what you're doing is the most important thing in the world. Everybody engaged in complicated work needs colleagues. Just the discipline of having to put your thoughts in order with somebody else is a very useful thing. (Charlie Munger) The key to it is doing what you believe in, as opposed to what you think is going to work. There were never any plans to make anything happen. I just did what I liked and believed in it, and luckily it all worked out. These things that we don't understand and cannot explain happen regularly. The amateur mind possesses a valuable lack of knowledge about rules when matched with passion and gumption gravity ceases to exist and new things take flight. To be ignorant of what occurred before you were born is to remain always a child. (Cicero) I believe in you so much, I'm going to make you believe in you. I try to make records that have a timeless quality.
The Southeastern 16 crew of Graham Doty, Alfred Ezman and Chris Lee previews LSU baseball for the 2026 season. Topics include: There's no debate: LSU, after winning last year's national title (making it two in the last three years) is the country's best program. The Tigers have continuity, thanks to Jay Johnson and a stable staff that's been in Baton Rouge for multiple years. LSU's pitching is loaded. The headliner is Casan Evans, last year's star reliever who transitioned to starting late in last year and was spectacular there, too. The Tigers have a ton of elite, returning arms who will be factors, including Zac Cowan, Jayden Noot, William Schmidt, Mavrick Rizy, Cooper Williams, Connor Benge and DJ Primeaux. Also look out for Gavin Guidry, who'll try to pitch (and should, though the timeline is uncertain as of January) again this year. Guidry was a valuable part of LSU's bullpen in 2024 but missed last year after surgery. The Tigers got elite arms Regan Ricken and Marcos Paz through the draft, too. Each should have significant roles in 2026. The offensive headliner is draft-eligible-sophomore outfielder Derek Curiel, who was a superstar as a freshman. Curiel seems to be LSU's center fielder after playing left last year, and is a candidate for this year's Golden Spikes Award, as well as to go top-10-overall in the 2026 MLB Draft. Returning shortstop Stephen Milam is one of the country's best and perhaps the heartbeat of the team. Right fielder Jake Brown could have a breakout year and John Pearson stands to be one of the top outfield reserves, with Chris Stanfield again returning to start, though likely in left. LSU killed it in the transfer market with infielders Trent Carraway (Oregon State), Seth Dardar (Kansas State), Brayden Simpson (High Point) and Zach Yorke (Grand Canyon). Catcher might be the biggest question, but Cade Arrambide played well in 75 plate appearances as a freshman. LSU got several highly-regarded bats through the draft, too, including outfielder William Patrick. Are the Tigers the best team in the country? What if the version of you the world applauds… is the one that's quietly breaking you? This episode of Your Passion, Purpose, and Personal Brand is sure to stick with you. Lisa McGuire invites business coach and former agency leader Jake Brown, into a conversation that names something many of us have lived for far too long: The exhaustion of pretending. The fear of being "found out." The cost of crafting a life that looks good, but doesn't feel like you. Jake spent 20+ years building agencies, collecting accolades, and performing success; all while hiding his ADHD, working nights and weekends, and wearing a mask that kept the world clapping... but kept him unseen. After a traumatic brain injury forced a full reset, Jake began asking two game-changing thoughts: "Says who?" "I don't want to." That was the start of everything changing. Now, Jake helps late-diagnosed ADHD founders and creatives build businesses that don't require them to betray themselves. Through his ADHD Tides Framework and Brain Friction Scorecard, he shows people how to work with their wiring — not against it — and finally live without the mask. If you've ever felt like you were too much, not enough, or had to perform to belong… this episode is your invitation to come home to yourself. This Conversation Will Help You: Understand why masking your true self feels so exhausting, and how it shows up in life, leadership, and work Learn how ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence affect focus, energy, and shame Discover why so many high achievers secretly feel stuck or broken (even while they're "crushing it") Use the ADHD Tides Framework to map your natural rhythms and stop pushing through low-tide days Reduce "brain friction" by identifying the hidden ways your executive function is burning out Reclaim your energy by learning the difference between constant and consistent Replace shame with strategy — and isolation with compassion CONNECT WITH JAKE LINKEDIN : https://www.linkedin.com/in/airballoon/ WEBSITE: jakebrown.co Brain Friction Scorecard: jakebrown.co CONNECT WITH LISA LINKEDIN: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lisa-mcguire/ WEBSITE: https://lisamcguire.com Beyond the Transaction Mastermind - Apply to join the group: https://beyondthetransactionmm.com/register Sign up for Lisa's "so much more" newsletter: https://www.thediyframework.com/so-much-more-subscribe Freedom Reset: Your Next Steps to Realignment Register: https://go.lisamcguire.com/freedom-reset Human Design Masterclass Waitlist: https://go.lisamcguire.com/human-design-masterclass-waitlist Ideal Client Workshop Waitlist: https://go.lisamcguire.com/ideal-client-workshop-waitlist-icww785155 Get your free Human Design Bodygraph: https://lisamcguire.com/get-your-free-chart/

On this episode I chatted with Jake Brown. Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Jake brings a relentless drive and deep-rooted purpose to his role as Managing Partner at TMJ Capital. A graduate of Bishop McGuinness and an alum of Oklahoma State University, Jake began his professional journey in banking before transitioning into commercial real estate and construction, leading large-scale electrical projects and lighting designs for major names, including Google and Tulsa's iconic Gathering Place. Jake's entrepreneurial path began with a few rental properties in Stillwater. What started as a side hustle quickly grew into a full-fledged real estate business focused on flipping and investing in residential properties. In time, his business acumen and vision led to co-founding TMJ Capital. Beyond business, Jake is passionate about mentorship and making a lasting impact in his community. Jake is a basketball coach at Bishop McGuinness and speaks openly about addiction and recovery. For Jake, success isn't just about growth, it's about doing meaningful work, giving back, and never forgetting where you came from. tmjcap.com Huge thank you to our sponsors. It's been three years since veteran Olympic sport leader Jack Gierhart found his way to U.S. Biathlon. Now entering his fourth season, Gierhart spoke with Heartbeat from the U.S. Biathlon headquarters in Soldier Hollow, outlining some of the innovative athlete support programs that have been implemented, discussing team culture, and sharing the story behind the new U.S. Biathlon logo released this month.Gierhart was enthusiastic about the athlete-staff initiative on team culture. In episode one of Heartbeat this season, we spoke with Kelsey Dickinson and Chloe Levins about the team's initiative to create a values-based, positive team culture. “I remember talking with Kelsey and Jake (Brown), and a couple of other athletes a year-and-a-half ago or so,” said Gierhart. “They were enthusiastic about trying to get this going.” Now the shared values program, driven by both athletes and staff, is firmly in place heading into the 2025-26 season. He also highlighted some of the innovative high-performance programs implemented by U.S. Biathlon to support athletes. As an example, High Performance Director Lowell Bailey now works closely with Jim Becker, a masters biathlete himself, at Montana State University on a wide range of initiatives, from physiological biometric testing to 3D motion capture.“We're really seeing quite an impact on the performance of our athletes,” he said.Simple as it may seem on the surface, another priority area for U.S. Biathlon has been athlete wellness. “One of the areas we really started to focus on about a year and a half ago was how do we reduce athlete illness?” said Gierhart. “That's been the biggest impact on us!”He outlined programs in place now through U.S. Biathlon's partnership with University of Utah Health. Last January, U of U Health Athletic Trainer Annika Pasch joined the team to support overall athlete wellness on the grueling schedule athletes face during the winter season.“This concept of minor illness prevention is incredibly important to us,” he added. “So we started to talk about how do we do that? How do we keep our athletes on the race course more frequently? And besides being able and having boots on the ground with the athletes that are able to monitor things in real time and react immediately, is really important.”The atmosphere at the final pre-season dryland camp was exhilarating. There was a lot on the line with team trials. And final preparation before the team reassembles in Obertilliach, Austria for a final on-snow test before the World Cup and IBU Cup openers. As he reflected back on the last three seasons, his look forward was one of pride. “The work that this team has done over the last three years – we have high goals. Everybody's working really hard. But whatever happens, I'm going to be incredibly proud of this team and our community of what we achieve.”Listen in to Heartbeat, season six, episode two, for an insightful look into U.S. Biathlon with CEO Jack Gierhart.
