After the tragedy at the shipyard, August and Penny have to decide what to do next. Meanwhile in Washington, D.C., Senator Lewis carries out his plan to try and pass the government restructuring bill with the help of the Posse.About The Testimony of Calvin Lewis:August Williams, a World War III veteran, is recruited by the government to test the new Uberman Device, which allows access to memories in a vivid, dreamlike state. But with a warning from a mysterious Man in Gray, August is unsure of who to trust. Told from the perspective of a U.S. Senator, The Testimony of Calvin Lewis blends together a political conspiracy, science fiction, and Christian philosophy. This is a Pratt on Texas podcast extra interview Konni Burton, founder of The Texan and a former state senator, on her efforts to provide straight news in a world of "advocacy journalism." From my perspective the interesting issue is how straight news reporting avoids being classified as "right-wing" or "niche" by the Leftist leaning traditional media. How do outlets such as The Texan begin to be seen by the public as "mainstream?"Recorded 5 April 2022.www.PrattonTexas.com
Can Ken Paxton survive without a runoff? The Republican race for Texas Attorney General appears to be tightening. For the first time in recent memory, the GOP primary for the state's top cop is crowded with high profile candidates. And three weeks before the March 1 primary, the gloves are off. George P. Bush, Louis Gohmert and Eva Guzman all recently joined our weekly political program Inside Texas Politics and didn't hold back (Ken Paxton declined our invitation to join). They went after each other in general, and the incumbent specifically. In this episode of Y'all-itics, GOP political insider and former state Senator Konni Burton joins the Jasons to analyze their pitches to Texas voters and handicap the race she fully expects to end with a runoff. And that could change everything. As Konni says, iron sharpens iron and that's why a heated primary is good for the Texas voters.

Conservatives are lining up to run against incumbent Governor Greg Abbott and incumbent Attorney General Ken Paxton. Who has a shot? Does anyone have a shot? Could Abbott or Paxton face a loss? The Jasons called up two Texas Republicans from different sides of the party. Former state Sen. Konni Burton, R-Fort Worth, explains why she thinks Abbott is in political trouble. Former state Rep. Jason Villalba, R-Dallas, says he thinks Paxton could face a runoff. Sure, the GOP primary is a long way off, but the campaigns are already ramping up and that got the Jasons talking in this episode. It is the political story in Texas right now. And talk about an October surprise: Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton accused of bribery, abuse of office and other potential crimes. And the allegations are coming from fellow Republicans within the AG’s office. In a statement, Paxton called them “rogue employees” and said he will not be resigning. But is the damage already done, if not to the AG, then how about the party? In this edition of Y’all-itics, the Jasons speak to Scott Braddock, the editor of Quorum Report, to take a deep dive into the allegations. And then they talk to Matt Mackowiak and Konni Burton, about whether Paxton – and the party – can survive the serious allegations.
