Gun control and gun rights …these terms in America, regardless of your political ideology, can invoke an aggravating response and be very triggering. Typically if you're conservative, you feel the liberals are out to take your guns away. And if you're liberal, you feel conservatives care more about guns than human life. But should guns be a partisan issue at all? We're going to ask a lot of questions in this episode. So please send us your thoughts by email or Instagram. It's very important to us to hear your thoughts and opinions. The Questions: - What are the solutions? - Can we we stop mass shootings or at the very least reduce them? - Should there be background checks? - Should there be age restrictions? - Should there be a limit to how many guns you can own? - Should there be a limit to what kind of gun you can have? - Should we be allowed to carry them on us wherever we want? - Do we have to reveal it or can it stay hidden? - How many can one walk around with? - Can you just carry twenty armed guns on you walking down the street or is one the limit? - Should schools be no gun zones? - Should any public place be no guns zones? But my biggest question for those that think we need more guns to combat gun violence is… If guns aren't the problem, how can they part of the solution? And my biggest question for those that think we need less guns for gun violence is… If guns are the problem, then what do you say to the responsible gun owners who make up more than 95% of gun owners? Looking forward to your comments and answers! My guest today is Robert Evans, a Journalist, War Correspondent, Podcast Host, Author, Activist and I'm hoping an optimist. He is here to discuss his novel “After The Revolution”, which is a fictional, bordering on non-fictional, story set in 2070 Texas, 20 years after an American Civil War. As I hear, there may be a sequel on the way as well. I've personally only scratched the surface of the novel so let's learn about it together. We're also going to learn a bit about Robert, his career that led to writing this book, dive into the book itself to give you a taste, and talk about the accompanying podcast of the same name. And as always we'll parade around any other topics that come up. In this episode, I'm joined by U.S. Navy veteran Taylor Grieger and film producer Chayne Gregg to discuss their new documentary Hell or High Seas. It's a phenomenal film that follows Taylor Grieger and writer Stephen O'Shea as they go on the adventure of a lifetime, sailing around Cape Horn, the world's most dangerous ocean waters. Taylor explains why he set himself such an extreme challenge, and how Adventure Therapy can help Veterans that are suffering from PTSD. We also discuss why it's so difficult for Veterans after they leave the forces, the support that's available for them, and what everyday people like you and me can do to help… “It's meant to provide hope where hope is needed, resiliency where resiliency is needed, it's meant to inspire. Stories can be powerful and Taylor's story is really powerful.” - Chayne Gregg Watch the interview at https://www.lonestarplate.show/episodes/adventure-documentary-hell-or-high-seas-veterans-in-the-spotlight Time Stamps:00:00 - Introducing our guests Taylor Grieger and Chayne Gregg and their film Hell or High Seas.05:50 - A clip from the film.09:05 - What Hell or High Seas is about and why Taylor decided to make it.12:58 - Where you can watch the film online.14:30 - How Chayne got involved with the production of the film.19:05 - Why it's so difficult for Veterans after they leave the forces.23:23 - How adventure therapy works and how it can help Veterans.29:24 - Different forms of adventure therapy and why we need to increase awareness of PTSD.34:55 - The need for increased funding towards veteran support programs. 38:34 - The difficulties they've had in getting the film distributed.41:05 - The adventure therapy outings Taylor's been organizing.44:05 - The most challenging part of Taylor's adventure around Cape Horn.47:41 - The type of boat they used for their Cape Horn challenge.49:57 - How difficult it is to sink a boat and why you should never leave your ship.52:20 - The amount of information you can learn on YouTube.55:21 - What people can do to help Veterans.
