According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, most microbusinesses cost around $3,000 to start, while most home-based franchises cost $2,000 to $5,000. While every type of business has its own financing needs, experts have some tips to help you figure out how much cash you'll require. For LaJuan Hughes” I came from of a place of not knowing I had the tools right at my disposal to start & grow an income for myself from scratch. My life mission is to educate people on how they can get the capital they need to start & grow a business. I love to provide value anyway I can and want to align with people who also speak on personal finance, business credit, and entrepreneurship. I feel what an audience can gain from me is that it is possible to do anything you want in life if you have the knowledge and apply it properly.” He joined me this week to tell me more. “These tactics work, but it's dangerous. No business is 100% guaranteed to work so you just want to make sure you've done your due diligence in your research.” -LaJuan Hughes If you're like most business owners, you understand the importance of good credit. After all, your credit score can make or break your ability to get financing for your business. But what you may not realize is that your personal credit can actually be a powerful tool in helping you get business credits fast. Of course, this isn't a decision to be made lightly. Listen in as LaJuan and I talk about why using our personal money to fund our business is not a good idea, why credit and business always go together, how we can manipulate our personal credit to our advantage, how we can leverage our personal credit to get business credits fast, how we can get 0% APR, and how we can avoid failure in business. Recently I had a rich, deep conversation with lawyer, Current Affairs contributing editor, and former Bernie Sanders National Press Secretary Briahna Joy Gray on her podcast Bad Faith. Briahna and I occupy very different ideological spaces, so I thought TGS viewers would be interested in watching the discussion. She has generously given me permission to share it here.We begin by debating the possible causes of racial disparities and my own ideas about what we should do about it. More funding for social services is often floated as a possible remedy, but I have questions. This segues into a discussion of my essay “The Case for Black Patriotism.” Briahna asks whether my vision of patriotism necessarily entails a belief in American exceptionalism, and this leads into an exploration of capitalism and socialism more broadly. Finally, Briahna asks me a question that many people wonder about: Given my political views (and the fact that I’m not shy about proclaiming them into a microphone), how do my Bernie-supporting wife LaJuan and I keep the peace at home? Briahna and I had a real debate here, but I was surprised by how many concerns we actually share. I hope you enjoy listening to the conversation as much as I enjoyed participating in it! Today I interviewed my mom, LaJuan Busby. She shares how she has grown closer to God during a time full of health challenges, wisdom that God has given to her through the years and how she's attempted to be a servant leader by living a life of serving others. She also shares how she's extended hospitality, things she wished she had done differently, how to make a difference and how to leave a legacy of love and kindness. My mom is one of the most encouraging people in my life so I'm glad I could share her with you all today!

On this episode, we'll examine the relationship between natural history and social history. Join Leah as she sits down with park ranger LaJuan Tucker to talk about the conservation of urban wildlife, and how changing societal attitudes determine how we relate to our landscapes. LaJuan will explain how, in recent years, Austin's Parks and Recreation Department has implemented a new mandate to protect pollinator habitats, even when that means sacrificing the "manicured" look of the park in high-traffic areas. We'll also zoom out and talk more broadly about the philosophy of conservation today. How should our parklands be used, and who gets to decide? Should we strive to preserve "native" landscapes, or build more community gardens? And how do we reconcile the romance of the Texas landscape with the racist realities of our past? We'll talk about the lingering effects of Jim Crow in Austin, from actual monuments to the Confederacy, to present-day structural inequality. And we'll hear about LaJuan's personal mission to encourage more young Austinites of color to seek careers in environmental conservation and city planning. Here, and in upcoming episodes as well, we'll begin to engage with the paradox of Austin as an environmentally progressive, yet socioeconomically segregated, city. LaJuan Tucker received an introduction to conservation with the Texas Conservation Corps. She started as a crew member and eventually became a staff member. LaJuan worked directly with young people of color who were interested in college or careers related to conservation. In this interview, LaJuan explains the common questions and concerns young people have about careers in conservation. LaJuan parlayed her experience with the Conservation Corps to become a park ranger with the city of Austin, Texas. LaJuan credits her time with the Texas Conservation Corps as the catalyst to her becoming a park ranger. Had she not been exposed to conservation, she would not have become a ranger. With the Austin Parks, LaJuan works on impactful projects such as Wildlife Austin. Austin is doing critical work to protect the Monarch Butterfly. LaJuan Tucker is a model of the impact and headstart the Conservation Corps and Corps Network can give to young people.
