Welcome to the final episode of Creative Block! After 5 years of running the podcast, the crew has decided to say goodbye to the podcast the only way they know how: making a podcast episode about it. Join the creative block team, VEE, SEAN, EBUKA, MARCO, AND CLEM, as they say their goodbyes to the show. In this final episode, we talk about why we're ending the pod, if it's Lordspew or lord's pew, Perks of the POD, and so much more. While we talk, we doodle on a MAGMA, where we draw from prompts we got on TWITTER, INSTAGRAM, YOUTUBE, THREADS, NEWGROUNDS, and PATREON. As Christmas approaches, it's easy to keep pushing even when you're already exhausted. This episode is about slowing down when your energy is already low, not forcing yourself to power through just because it's the end of the year.I talk about why rest doesn't need to be earned, how boundaries can help before the break begins, and what it might actually be helpful to stop doing over the holidays. There's also space here for neurodivergent people and parents of neurodivergent children, because this season can feel especially intense. I share ways to reduce overload, keep some structure, and be clearer about what you need from others.Leadership comes into the conversation too, particularly the signals we send about availability, rest, and burnout at this time of year. This episode is an invitation to approach Christmas with less pressure and more care for yourself.Highlights:(01:30) You don't need to earn rest(04:30) Setting boundaries before Christmas(08:30) Reducing sensory overload and protecting routines(13:10) Managing emotional noise during the holidays(19:45) What leaders unintentionally signal about rest and burnout Take the Aurora 360 Quiz: How Effective Is Your Company's Wellbeing Strategy? Tim and Mary look at some of the top headlines of the last week. We often ask ourselves, are things winding down, or winding up? Civilization seems to be winding down, in the classic historical sense. What is winding up is prophecy, marching to judgment in an unrepentant world. Where is that pivot point? As we head into another Christmas season, we know that the big moment that changed everything was “unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given”. For God so loved, he GAVE. Ever since that proclamation, lovers of Jesus have anticipated His return. And all the more reason with Israel securely a nation state on the world scene. And that’s just one sign, albeit a huge one. So today, we continue to point to the wind up and the wind down, talking about the focus now on the Middle East and Israel in particular. The Word tells us that there will be a conclusion to the ‘times of the Gentiles’, so we know that one dispensation will wind down, and Israel’s redemption will wind upward. Another topic today is the latest from the Pope and his pro-Islam pandering, pretty disturbing on every level. Meanwhile, in churches around the nation, pastors are getting creative with Ai in multiple ways. The question is, are they as easily calling on the Holy Spirit to guide, direct and teach? This is an uncomfortable question for those who believe a church should be Spirit led, not Ai driven. We also take apart the Minnesota welfare scandal, and no one should be saying anyone “meant well” on this one. A full hour.
Winding down and ramping up. Bf Barry and guide dog Oyster (not Lester) are back for a pre-Christmas visit and join us as our additional Outlook crew. The Centre for Independent Living Toronto, Fanshawe College and George Brown and Toronto Metropolitan University, Disability Without Poverty, and Alliance For Equality of Blind Canadians all celebrate December 3rd's United Nations International Day of/for Persons With Disabilities along with our other holiday related news. This week on the show we're pre-recording because of last minute 70th birthday celebrations, but we did a Friday night recording discussing IDPD and related events, Barry shares his AI personal assistance/unpaid testers and snowy return to Canada diaries, and we discuss how “seeing isn't knowing” on this Mixed Bag Early December episode. We've been eating a lot of cake lately and we talk Thanksgiving in the States, how this time of year can be a difficult one for many, and yet the arrival of changes of the holiday season becoming more diverse. On a high note, Happy 70th birthday to our dad, who met our mom 50 years ago this month, while we look back a few weeks ago to a special honouring of an early sibling organ transplant story at London, Ontario's Health Sciences Centre. Brother/co-host Brian's been winding down as the end of this year draws near while sister/co-host Kerry has been ramping up with Blind Beginnings, (more about that in January). In this episode, we're talking about why the end-of-summer hustle leaves us feeling fried, how summer ironically mirrors our “inner summer” (aka ovulation phase) where we can easily burn out too if we're doing too much! We chat about what we can do to actually ground ourselves before we crash. Think: slowing down, cozy transitions, nervous system resets, and creating little systems that make life way less chaotic. Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Cristi: Hi Dr. Cabral, thanks for all you do and your amazing, well researched supplement line. What do you think about oral supplementation of high molecular weight hyaluronic acid for joint support as we age and things like osteoarthritis? Do you think there are better things to take, or if we are taking/doing the basic things you recommend, is this worth adding to the mix, or is it a waste of money? Thank you! Ali: Hello, I have a son who was born with multiple heart defects- AV Canal, mitral valve prolapse, and coarctation of the aorta. He had 3 open heart surgeries before the age of 1 to fix these issues, and by the hands of some amazing surgeons and the grace of God, he is now 16 years old and hasn't needed another surgery in the past 15 years. But because of his heart history, it has been recommended that anytime he has dental work done- even just a routine cleaning, that he take an antibiotic an hour beforehand. I cringe every time I have to give it cause I know of the ill effects. I've heard you say you don't want to take an antibiotic unless it's life saving... would you consider this one of those times? Or do you think it's overly conservative to take an antibiotic for prevention? Anonymous: hi Dr Cabral. I have a Moringa tree growing in my backyard. Just wondering how you recommend to use the leaves and are they able to be eaten daily? I have dried the leaves before made a powder. Would this be recommended to have daily in a smoothie? Have you also heard of soursop and using leaves to make a tea? Thank you ☺️ Anonymous: hi Dr. Cabral. I am more of the vata body type and play sport (tennis/ netball) at night time a couple nights a week. I sometimes have trouble winding down, I love these sports as I work from home and love getting out to see people. Do you have any tips on how to wind down and what would be the typical workout week for a vata - pita body type wanting to gain muscle but not overdo it. Would three days gym, two days light Pilates or yoga plus walking everyday and sport be too much? Thank you Patrick: Hey dr. The big thing you need to know: First, with reporting season starting to wind down, Health Care and Tech stand out positively on a few of our earnings-related sector stats. Second, we recap what we read in last week's S&P 500 earnings calls. The overall tone improved vs. the prior week, but we still detected plenty of uncertainty as reporting season winds down particularly on demand, the consumer, mitigation levers yet to be pulled, and capex. Third, we run through a few other things that jump out on our high frequency indicators including the surge in Growth stocks, waning investor sentiment, and the sharp US equity funds outflows seen in the latest EPFR data.
