Jimmy drove down to have dinner at Nan Ban Kan, and record a fresh episode of the podcast. Jannik Sinner wins his first Indian Wells crown, which was the only Masters 1000 hard court title missing from his resume. Having only played 2 tournaments so far this year it was nice to see the young Italian play some of the best tennis of the year. Aryna Sabalenka also broke through to win her first IW title after being runner up in 2025 to Andreeva. She played an instant classic vs AO champ Elena Rybakina in the final winning 7-6 in the third. Daniil Medvedev is back playing some of the best tennis of his career and is back in the top ten of the ATP tour. Med played a great match beating Carlos Alcaraz in the SF and almost pushing Sinner to 3 in the final. With 2 titles on the year already it seems like there is more positive things ahead for the Russian. Elena Rybakina has been one of the best players in the world the past 9 months. The AO champ played some amazing tennis to get to the final and was up a set and a break on Sabby before things turned around. In what has to be one of the best matches of the year the two biggest hitters on tour blasted away for 3 high powered sets. Sadly someone had to lose, but something tells us these two will play more important matches down the road. All that plus more on a new episode of the Advantage Connors podcast. In this episode of the Full Circl podcast, Sabby Gill, CEO of Dext, shares insights from his career journey, emphasising the importance of real-life experience over qualifications. He discusses his early struggles in education, the value of apprenticeships, and the evolving job market. Sabby offers practical advice for young people entering the workforce, highlighting the significance of passion and resilience in achieving success.
What does the future of bookkeeping actually look like when AI gets practical? Sabby Gill (CEO of Dext) breaks down what's changing, what won't, and how bookkeepers stay indispensable. You'll hear how a SaaS CEO thinks about time-saving automation, why “customer voice” should shape your roadmap (even in a practice), and why the human relationship side of bookkeeping becomes more valuable as systems get smarter. - Learn why Sabby speaks to 2–3 customers every day (and why he won't “pre-prep” the calls). - Use the “why + benefit + ROI” script to communicate change without losing clients. - Understand why employees come first (and how that protects customers). - Steal a leadership routine: town halls, skip-levels, surveys, and CEO onboarding 1:1s. - See what Dext is building next: AI that learns your edits, plus payments and more. - Reframe the real endgame: automation → advisory → better client outcomes. Learn what AI and Automation mean for the future of Bookkeeping with Dext's free guide: https://info.dext.com/ai-and-the-future-of-accounting-report?UTM_Source=6fb This conversation is for bookkeepers and accountants who feel the industry is in constant change (AI, HMRC updates, new processes) and want a clearer way to communicate value, without burning out. Sign up to become a member today at www.workersstrikeback.org/join. After being forced to dump Biden amidst a political meltdown in the Democratic Party, the Democrat establishment has quickly moved to coronate the Vice President Kamala Harris as the party's presumptive Presidential nominee. Nearly every establishment figure from Nancy Pelosi to Jim Clyburn has rallied behind Harris, along with so-called progressives like Bernie and AOC, who have shown once again that they have no strategy for working people and are utterly broken to the party elite. Harris' long record as Vice President, as a U.S. Senator, and as a “tough on crime” prosecutor is deeply anti-worker, anti-poor, and anti-Black just like Biden's. And while Harris has had some outwardly progressive rhetoric, she has been lockstep with Biden in backing the genocidal war on Gaza and the continued U.S. funding for the Israeli state's war machine. She is no alternative for working people. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onstrikeshow/support

In my book review of The Others Within Us, I wrote: [An Internal Family Systems session] isn't supposed to be just the therapist walking you through guided imagery, or you making up a story you tell yourself. The therapist asks you “Look inside until you find the part that's sabotaging your relationship”, and you are supposed to discover - not invent, discover - that your unconscious gives it the form of a snake called Sabby. And you are supposed to hear as in a trance - again, not invent - Sabby telling you that she's been protecting you from heartbreak since your last breakup. When you bargain with Sabby, it's a two-way negotiation. You learn - not decide - whether or not Sabby agrees to any given bargain. According to Internal Family Systems (which descends from normal family systems, ie family therapy where the whole family is there at once and has to compromise with each other), all this stuff really is in your mind, waiting for an IFS therapist to discover it. When Carl Jung talked about interacting with the archetypes or whatever, he wasn't being metaphorical. He literally meant “go into a trance that gives you a sort of waking lucid dream where you meet all this internal stuff”. Some IFS therapists chimed in to say this was wrong. Today, I've something exciting to share with you. You know how you get excited when a lost Beatle or Nirvana track is found, well the extraordinary Alexi Boyd uncovered the audio of a panel discussion from Sydney Xerocon PreXerocon 2023. I honestly thought I'd never hear it again, and then mid March she sent me a copy - making me a very happy podcaster cause I get to share it with you. The panel discussion was held at the beautiful Hinchcliff House at Circular Quay. Unfortunately the room was a little noisy on the day of the event. However much to my surprise the audio quality is really quite good. The topic for discussion was “Unravelling the future of AccounTech”. If you are a regular listener you will know, I value bringing diversity to these tech conversations: The moderator Alexi Boyd ran a BAS and Bookkeeping business for 8 years. She is the Radio Show host of Small Biz Matters and now works in policy strategy and government relations. Her background led her to take the conversation in an interesting direction, consumer data rights and restrictions on data and innovation and the differences between data protection laws in Europe, UK, and Australia. This event was the first time Sabby Gill, the new Dext formerly Receipt Bank CEO, had spoken in Australia. Sabby had literally just got off the plane. London based Sabby Gill brought an overseas perspective, as well as his 35 years in the UK technology sector. Aly Garrett is a modern, technology savvy accountant, from South Australia. She represented accountants, their small business clients, and living outside the major Australian cities, brought a regional perspective to the conversation. Roger Gregg brought that unique energy that comes with being a Fintech founder, plus his expensive knowledge of the hospitality and brewing industry, which certainly flavoured the conversation. I shall add in some recent relevant news, congratulations are in order, 10 months after recording this, it has been announced that the Access Group Has Entered Into an Agreement to Acquire Pioneering AP Automation Provider, Lightyear Let me fill you in on a bit of a backstory. The Gregg brothers were one of the original App partners, with their solution InvitBox. I'm thinking within the first ten years? InvitBox won Xero emerging app partner in 2013. Then in May 2014 Intuit acquired InvitBox. The very blue boys turned green overnight. Several years later, in quite an unprecedented move, they bought InvitBox back from Intuit for a single dollar! And relaunched as LightYear. Here we are ten years later, and they have sold again, this time to The Access Group. Today I'm speaking with Sabby Gill, CEO of Dext Sabby Gill was appointed as Chief Executive at Dext in October 2022. He has more than 35 years' experience in the technology sector, spanning sales, operations, development, support and customer service. He has spent his career supporting businesses of all sizes with technology that looks to unlock their potential—both at home and in international markets, including working in the Netherlands and Dubai. Prior to joining Dext, Sabby was CEO of Thomas International, which is a leading talent assessment and psychometric provider. Prior to that Sabby was UK & Ireland Managing Director of Sage, prior to that I held senior executive leadership roles at Epicor, IGT, HP, CA Technologies, Oracle, PeopleSoft and Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). In this episode I ask Sabby Gill: You joined Dext two months ago, what attracted you to joining the Dext empire? What do you hope to achieve with Dext over the next two years? Let's talk about community. You've worked alongside the Accounting and Bookkeeping community for many years. In your introductory letter to the community you have said “I am obsessed with customer and employee engagement, and I'm excited to meet many of the partners and businesses Dext supports. If I jump into any forum and mention Dext, a lot of unhappy campers will respond ”What can the APAC region expect from DEXT over the next two years and beyond. What is the strategic focus of Partnerships within APAC? You serve on a number of boards, pushing for digital adoption: You've recently become the Chair of the Digital Leaders Advisory board, a community of over 180,000 professionals working to eliminate the issues that hold back UK Digital Transformation such as access to knowledge, networks and skills. What are you hoping to achieve in that role, how can UK people get involved with the Digital Leaders Advisory board, and have you got them all using Dext yet? Talk to me about the future of E-invoicing in Australia. Have you ever been involved in a company that has undergone a brand change / rename that Dext has gone through. Like before this session, I had to visit the website and find out what the official new name of Receipt Bank is - its Dext Prepare Were facing a tough economic environment, with inflation, looming global recession, what advice do you have for small businesses out there. Is there anything else you would like to share with our listeners and how can they get in touch with you? I hope you liked listening to that interview with Sabby Gill, CEO of Dext. Sabrina is the founder of London-based womenswear brand Sabby Lou Knit who focuses on creating beautiful figure hugging pieces to compliment a woman's body. Sabrina's passion for knitting started in school whilst knitting in her D&T classes, inspiring her to study Fashion Textiles at London College of Fashion, then furthering her education at Royal College of Art before leaving early to pursue her business. What I loved about this conversation was the honesty Sabrina gave us about how challenging it can be to run a business, giving her own personal examples of not selling products at her pop up store. But what I admire more is her commitment to succeed doing what she loves - which is paying off as she built her own fashion studio from the ground up.
