The Unsung Heroes of Healthcare: "Community pharmacists are maybe the most trusted and most accessible health care provider. They're unsung heroes in our communities but rich with knowledge." - Dr. Taylor ReedWe shine a spotlight on a vital resource in Central Ohio: the Charitable Pharmacy of Central Ohio. For 15 years, this nonprofit has been dedicated to providing free, life-saving prescription medications to those who can't afford them. Executive Director Dr. Taylor Reed joins the conversation to share his unique career path, the inspiring origin story of the charitable pharmacy, and how the organization serves the community. Especially older adults and those with chronic health needs. We'll explore the challenges and partnerships that make this work possible, recent changes in Ohio law that allow even more donated medications to reach those in need, and how the pharmacy works hand-in-hand with patients, healthcare providers, and other social service organizations to address the full spectrum of patient wellness. If you or someone you know is struggling with medication costs, or if you're interested in how you can help, this episode is packed with insights, resources, and ways to get involved. Here are 3 key takeaways for healthcare and community professionals:The Charitable Pharmacy was born from a unique Columbus-style public-private partnership that included city, county, all four major health systems, faith organizations, and business leaders. This cross-sector approach catalyzed innovative and lasting solutions for medication access in our region.Serving over 1,600 individuals annually, the pharmacy provides not just free medication but a holistic support model. Patients often face multiple chronic conditions, and pharmacists deliver ongoing education, coaching, and direct connections to broader health and social services. From state law changes enabling medication donations to partnerships with organizations like the Mid-Ohio Food Collective, the Charitable Pharmacy is addressing the social drivers of health, ensuring patients have food, housing, and transportation, not just medication. If you like this episode, please let us know. Not all heroes wear capes - some just pay for the TV streaming accounts. In this episode, we shine a very unserious spotlight on the real MVPs of everyday life: eldest daughters holding households together since the dawn of time, the one friend who keeps the group chat alive, and more. Genesis: The Story of Apollo 8, the First Manned Flight to Another World Author: Bob Zimmerman Segment 3: The Unsung Heroes: Wives' Sacrifices Under Public Scrutiny The wives of the Apollo 8 crew—Susan Borman, Marilyn Lovell, and Valerie Anders—were central to the mission's story, facing intense media attention akin to being "under siege" in their "NASA village." Despite the financial strains of middle-class incomes and Valerie Anders raising five children under eight, all three women gave their husbands permission to go. Susan Borman, though supportive, was convinced Frank Borman would die in lunar orbit, needing reassurance from Chris Kraft that the mission had "a 50/50 chance" of success. 1870

9/4/25 - Catholic author and journalist Kevin Wells returns to share two modern miracle stories shaking the Church today. First, the inspiring witness of Fr. John Hollowell, who in 2018 offered his sufferings for victims of abuse, enduring seizures, a brain tumor, and depression before experiencing a remarkable healing at Lourdes now under investigation. Then, Kevin tells the story of Fr. Jonathan Meyer, whose Indiana parish, once near closure, has been transformed into one of the most vibrant Catholic communities in America, modeled after the zeal of St. John Vianney. This week on No More Late Fees, Jackie and Danielle crash the party with a rewatch of the 2005 comedy hit Wedding Crashers. The film took audiences (and the box office) by surprise, cementing itself as one of the biggest comedy successes of the 2000s. We're revisiting Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn's unforgettable bromance, Isla Fisher's scene-stealing breakout role, and asking the big question: does the movie still hold up nearly 20 years later?Of course, no rewatch would be complete without behind-the-scenes fun facts, production tidbits, and plenty of nostalgia for the days when raunchy comedies ruled the theaters. Whether you're here for the meatloaf, the mayhem, or just a trip down memory lane, this episode is a must-listen for comedy fans and movie buffs alike.·Season 5 Episode 19—No More Late Fees https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com909-601-NMLF (6653)—Follow Us on Social:Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/nomorelatefees TikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@nomorelatefees Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/nomorelatefeesYoutubehttps://www.youtube.com/@nomorelatefees Twitterhttps://x.com/NoMoreLateFees —CONQUERingmyconquering.com10% Off Code: JACKIE10—NostaBeautyhttps://nostabeauty.com 20% Off Code: NMLF—Andrew's Previous EpisodesDodgeballhttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/dodgeballRise of the Underdog: defending Unsung Heroes with Andrewhttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/rise-of-the-underdog-defending-unsung-heroes-with-andrew

Wallis Annenberg was a titan in the world of philanthropy. An heir to the Anneneberg family fortune, she served as chairman and president of the Annenberg Foundation since 2009, giving away more than $3 billion in charitable grants to a variety of causes, including the arts, wildlife, seniors, and inner-city youth. But the obituaries celebrating her life and lauding her achievements failed to mention that she was well-known in LA's LGBTQ+ community as a lesbian, and she had given significant and critical support for LGBTQ+ causes. It was a noteworthy example of queer erasure – the tendency to remove LGBTQ groups or identity from the historical record. The queer erasure so bothered her former partner Karen Ocamb – a noted chronicler of the LGBT civil rights movement and the HIV/AIDS crisis that she took to Substack to write about – in a column titled “When Lesbian Philanthropist Wallis Annenberg Helped Save The Gays.” The article drew immediate praise from members of LA's queer community, who were shocked that news outlets failed to mention Annenberg was a lesbian. I interviewed Karen Ocamb about the Wallis she and so many others knew, and about the work Wallis Annenberg did for the LGTBQ+ community. The group works cohesively to maintain the crops on the Research Farm, as well as collect data that helps prove out the breakthrough technology provided by Redox. “In order for farming to survive, we have to change the way we're doing things,” said Faith Talley, who in three years has risen from intern to significantly more responsibility in the field. “I feel that Redox is a perfect example of that. They're always trying to change the future, and not only help farmers grow where they're at, but also provide solutions for them.”

Western States may be the most iconic race in ultrarunning—but it also comes with carnage, heartbreak, and a pile of DNS and DNF drama. In this episode, I'm joined by the always-entertaining Allison Mercer (of FastestKnownTime.com) to break down the storylines, the runners who didn't make it to the start line, and wild ideas to spice up the sport (spoiler: mile-seeding starts for elites?).We also dive into the FKT world—John Kelly's latest madness, what's changing in the scene, and why FKTs still matter. Plus, I give a quick life update because I'm moving out, living out of a storage unit, and heading out for an Appalachian Trail FKT attempt.Big thanks to our sponsors:
