Episode Notes We're all 90s kids. Crossfire: Worf and Odo bond over being neurodivergent and cops. Odo is stuffed into the third wheel. Quark is a good dude, in his own way--and possibly the only character that recognizes that Odo has actual emotions. Jude has thoughts about the cuck chair. Major Kira likes Bland Powerful Hot Boys, and Jude curls a monkey's paw. Return to Grace: Time for another Ducat/Kira episode! Klingons refusing to fight you is deeply embarrassing. Some diversions into mechanical keyboard jokes. Justen makes a very complicated history joke. Damar is introduced. Crossfire! BabSpace9 is a production of the Okay, So network. Yes, we are making good progress with our podcast, thank you for asking. We've gotten into a really good groove at this point and we're feeling pretty confident. Nothing can stop our show now. Well, I mean, I suppose my house could burn down, and I could lose everything. That might stop us, but come on, what are the odds of that happening? By the way, did I tell you that Major Kira was planning on paying our show a visit? Let see if we make it out alive and un-scorched, as we watch this fire episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. KIRA'S SOLEMN VOW leads to a shocking truth: vengeance is not moral. In the course of investigating a single Cardassian she comes to the realization that collective punishment of all Cardassians isn't justice, even if this particular Cardassian wants to face judgment for his people's crimes. It's one of the most intense episodes of Star Trek ever made and to help Bryan discuss this Deep Space Nine achievement is writer Andrew Bloom (Slashfilm, Consequence, The Spool). He's written a piece about "Duet" on his Substack In Full Bloom -- check it out! If you're liking the show, consider rating us on your podcast platform of choice. BAJOR IS OVER. At least, that's what Quark wants us to believe after a wave of Bajoran nationalism threatens the lives of every of non-Bajoran on the station. This week, Bryan and Kristen take a look at part two of Star Trek's first ever three-parter which sees the introduction of the 90s version of Hot Priest, Vedek Bereil, Major Kira's soon-to-be boyfriend. Is he as interesting now as he was then? They also discuss the life of this episode's writer, Peter Allan Fields, with the help of this incredible Twitter thread from DS9 writer Robert Hewitt Wolfe. Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Sacrifice of Angels Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E6: Sacrifice of Angels. In this episode, Sisko and the Federation fleet try to break through the Dominion barrier and re-take Deep Space Nine but some angels must be sacrificed as the drama of this episode unfolds. We wrap up a big story arc with a slew of guest stars in Marc Alaimo (Dukat), Jeffrey Combs (Weyoun), Casey Biggs (Damar), Melanie Smith (Ziyal), Andrew Robinson (Garak) and Salome Jens (evil changeling). Sacrifice of Angels In Sacrifice of Angels, everything appears bleak as the Federation fleet faces a much stronger enemy while trying not to give up hope. Even when Sisko and the Defiant break through enemy lines, hope of success is nearly gone. Meanwhile, Kira and her cohorts have been jailed to thwart any rebellion, leaving some unlikely heroes to emerge. The Federation's only chance now hinges on Quark and Odo! Will Quark find a way to help his friends rather than hide behind the bar? Will Odo finally pull his head out of the Great Link (literally) and take action? What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Welcome to Rebinge DS9 S6E6: Sacrifice of Angels where Sisko and crew are wildly outnumbered in their attempt to retake the station.
Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Favor the Bold Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E5: Favor the Bold. In this episode, we head back to the station to take out the (Cardassian and Dominion) trash! Meanwhile, Odo is still under the spell of the evil changeling (Salome Jens). Favor the Bold In Favor the Bold, Sisko is done sitting around waiting for something to happen. So he's reading Bajoran prophecies and preparing to take his station back. Odo is still spending way too much time with that crazy cult leader (also known as the female changeling). Kira is not amused as she's doing everything she can to try and save Rom from being executed. What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Behind the Lines Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E4: Behind the Lines. In this episode, Major Kira and crew hatch a plan to stop the Cardassians from taking down the mine field. Unfortunately, Odo isn't completely focused as he's hanging out with the evil changeling (Salome Jens). Behind the Lines This week the female changeling turns up and manages to turn Odo's head with a drug called The Great Link. Meanwhile, Sisko turns over the Defiant to Dax when he accepts a promotion. Nobody seems particularly happy in this episode, except maybe Damar...and that is never good. What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Sons and Daughters Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E3: Sons and Daughters. Some of our favorite repeating characters are back as well as some of our not so favorite...you can determine which is which. Plus we get a new version of Worf's son Alexander now played by Marc Worden. So we get a little parental drama on the station with Ziyal and Dukat and a little Klingon parental drama with Worf and Alexander. Sons and Daughters In this episode, Martok's ship gets some new reinforcements and everyone (especially Worf) is surprised to see Alexander Rozhenko as one of the new recruits. There is a lot of drama as Worf has to face the truth about how he has mistreated his own son. Back on the station, Ziyal and Dukat are patching up their relationship as Dukat pretends to be a good father while irritating Major Kira at every turn. What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Rocks and Shoals Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E2: Rocks and Shoals! In the aftermath of a dangerous mission, Sisko and crew are stranded on a planet where they are not alone. This week's guest stars include Christopher Shea as Keevan and Phil Morris as Remata'Klan. Rocks and Shoals After last week's successful mission, the crew crashes their Jem'Hadar ship on a supposedly deserted planet! But you know it's not deserted! There's some crazy Jem'Hadar also stranded there - and no planet is big enough for both Starfleet and the Dominion. Meanwhile back at the station, Major Kira is having a crisis of conscience and is starting to feel like a traitor to her own people. Lots of drama! What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Rebinging Star Trek DS9: A Time to Stand WE ARE BACK! Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E1: A Time to Stand! The Dominion war is not going well and in this episode the DS9 crew gets a dangerous new assignment. Back on the station Major Kira is gritting her teeth every day as she puts up with Dukat and the Cardassians. This episode is full of the usual guest stars like Marc Alaimo (Dukat), Jeffrey Combs (Weyoun), Casey Biggs (Damar) and our favorite JG Hertzler (Martok). Even Brock Peters as Grandpa Joe makes a brief appearance! A Time to Stand Starfleet finally has a plan that makes sense - we send Sisko and crew to destroy a big ketracel-white storage facility using the previously acquired Jem'Hadar ship (see The Ship). While this is a good plan, it is also a very dangerous one! Back on the station, Major Kira has to deal with pretending to be ok with the occupying force on her station. While she tries to put on a smiling face, Dukat is busy being threatening and generally disgusting. This is an intense opening to a season! What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Jeffrey Combs, Marc Alaimo, Chase Masterson and JG Hertzler are all here to send season 5 out with a bang! Call to Arms Sisko prepares for a Dominion attack on the station starting with a minefield at the mouth of the wormhole. Rebinging Star Trek DS9: In the Cards Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 5 episode 25 of Rebinge Deep Space Nine: In the Cards where we mix a light-hearted story (Jake and Nog) with one of gloom and doom (Kai Winn's fear of the Dominion). It's always great to have the the character of Kai Winn back in an episode but it comes on the heels of the announcement of Louise Fletcher's death at the age of 88. While we lose another great member of the Star Trek family, her contributions to the franchise will live on forever. In the Cards Sisko (and everyone else) are depressed and weary from the Dominion war. Jake and Nog decide to try and cheer up Sisko by obtaining a very rare baseball card. While they are working on that plan, they get inadvertently tangled in the precarious relationship between Bajor and the Dominion. What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Empok Nor Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 5 episode 24 of Rebinge Deep Space Nine: Empok Nor. In this episode we visit an abandoned version of our station and end up in the middle of a horror movie. The good news is, Garak is in this episode to bring some of his usual wit and craziness. The bad news is a lot of red (yellow) shirts bite the dust! Empok Nor We raid Empok Nor for equipment compatible with DS9, but even though we know the place is going to be full of traps we are not at all careful and bad things happen. Red shirts die. Garak goes a little nutty. Miles makes some very bad decisions. Bad bad bad. But a fun episode to watch! What's this rebinge thing? Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Blaze of Glory Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 5 episode 23 of Rebinge Deep Space Nine: Blaze of Glory. Ken Marshall is back as Snodgrass/Eddington! And it's like nothing has changed - he's still wearing his over-sized rebel jacket and he's as smug as ever! Sadly...there is still no singing in this episode! Blaze of Glory The Klingons intercept a message about an attack by the Maquis and Sisko leaps into action. He pulls Eddington (aka Snodgrass) out of his tiny jail cell with his giant jacket and takes him on a mission to stop the missiles. Well....Snoddy has some tricks up those over-sized sleeves and Sisko is not amused. What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Children of Time Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 5 episode 22 of Rebinge Deep Space Nine: Children of Time where we have some time travel shenanigans! But really what are the best kind of shenanigans? Time travel shenanigans! There are some truly unexpected things in this episode: first Odo is going to be a hunk in a couple hundred years and second being Klingon is a matter of choice. These are not things I knew prior to watching Children of Time. Children of Time The crew is on its way back from some work in the Gamma Quadrant (no idea why we still go there) when Dax wants to stop off to see some sciencey stuff. Unfortunately that leads us into some serious trouble when we land on a planet full of the crew's descendants. That wouldn't be so bad except these people can't exist unless the Defiant goes back in time, stranding everyone forever. What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Soldiers of the Empire Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 5 episode 21 of Rebinge Deep Space Nine: Soldiers of the Empire where we bounce from Ferengi nonsense to Klingon honor! This week we spend a lot of time on a smoky, dark Klingon ship with melodrama, drinking and hand-to-hand combat. And in great news, we welcome back recurring character Martok played by J.G. Hertzler who coincidentally just appeared on an episode of Star Trek Lower Decks! Soldiers of the Empire When Martok is called upon by the Klingon empire to locate a missing Klingon ship, he finds himself in an unfamiliar position: he is cautious and afraid! Turns out his time in the Jem'Hadar internment camp had some lasting effects on the grizzled general. But never fear, Worf is here to remind him of his warrior heart! How's that for Klingon melodrama? What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Ferengi Love Songs Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 5 episode 20 of Rebinge Deep Space Nine: Ferengi Love Songs. Guest stars Jeffrey Combs as Brunt and Wallace Shawn as the Grand Nagus Zek return but a new actress (Cecily Adams) appears as Ishka (Quark's mom). We've got a whole lot of Ferengi nonsense in this episode, so brace yourselves! Ferengi Love Songs When Quark heads back to his home planet to whine to his mother about his own failings, he learns his mother is having an affair with Zek. He also learns that Zek's mental abilities are declining and his mother has been supporting him! In addition to this news, Quark has to deal with Brunt always on his tail about everything. Meanwhile back on the station, Dax and Miles are not being supportive friends to Rom who is busy making his own bad decisions. What's this rebinge thing? Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Ties of Blood and Water Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 5 episode 19 of Rebinge Deep Space Nine: Ties of Blood and Water. Lawrence Pressman returns as Tekeny Ghemor a Cardassian father figure to Kira. We also have an unpleasant visit from Gul Dukat (Marc Alaimo) and Weyoun #3 (Jeffrey Combs). Ties of Blood and Water When Tekeny Ghemor returns to the station, Kira is all excited and ready to treat him like a head of state, but he arrives with some bad news. As Kira tries to help Tekeny complete a Cardassian ritual, she flashes back to some difficult moments with her own Bajoran father and is forced to face some regrets. What's this rebinge thing? Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Business as Usual Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 5 episode 18 of Rebinge Deep Space Nine: Business as Usual. In this episode, Quark gets into arms dealing and can't get himself out. We've got guest stars Steven Berkoff, Josh Pais and a brief appearance by Lawrence Tierney. Business as Usual When Quark is down to his last strip of latinum, his cousin Gaila turns up with an offer Quark can't refuse...and that's how Quark ends up as an arms dealer. He pretty quickly regrets getting into this business when he realizes he's selling weapons to very dangerous people (duh)! What's this rebinge thing? Rebinging Star Trek DS9: A Simple Investigation Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 5 episode 17 of Rebinge Deep Space Nine: A Simple Investigation! Time for Odo to get a girlfriend and it's played by a very human-looking alien named Arissa played by Dey Young. But, of course, nothing is truly simple because Arissa has a couple of big secrets. A Simple Investigation Odo meets a woman in Quark's bar and after she pays him a compliment, Odo seems to fall head over heels in love with her. After a few missteps, Odo does get the girl, but there are a lot of secrets for him to uncover. Ultimately it's a bit of a tragic love story for Odo but he does finally get to make out someone which seems to make him very (briefly) happy. What's this rebinge thing? Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Doctor Bashir, I Presume Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 5 episode 16 of Rebinge Deep Space Nine: Doctor Bashir, I Presume! We move on from the very serious two-parter involving the Dominion into something less dramatic and certainly narrower in scope! Robert Picardo from Voyager fame joins us as the cantankerous Dr. Lewis Zimmerman intent on turning Julian into a holographic long term medical hologram! Also joining our extremely lively discussion this week is our favorite guest host, local artist Attiba Royster of the Teebs and Kid Phoenix Vs podcast. Check out Attiba's art here, it's pretty awesome! Doctor Bashir, I Presume Dr. Zimmerman has arrived to do an intense study into all things Julian and to do this he must interview everyone who knows Julian, including his parents. When Julian's parents arrive, Julian unravels a bit as we start to find some secrets in the Bashir family closet. There is also a B-story in this episode where Leeta (played by Chase Masterson) tries to get Rom's romantic attention and it does not go well. What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Rebinging Star Trek DS9: By Inferno's Light Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 5 episode 15 of Rebinge Deep Space Nine: By Inferno's Light! We wrap up our two-part story with lots of guest stars! We have Marc Alaimo as Gul Dukat, Melanie Smith as Ziyal, Andrew Robinson as Garak, JG Heltzler as Martok and Robert O'Reilly as Gowron. Not only do we need to survive the onslaught of Jem'Hadar ships from the end of last week's episode but we need to get Worf back to the Alpha Quadrant! By Inferno's Light We quickly put the death of Garak's dad behind us and try to figure out how to get the heck out of the internment camp. Back on the station we learn that Dukat has been up to no good for a long time and has aligned himself with the Dominion in order to become ruler of all of Cardassia (this seems like a very short-sighted plan). But maybe the biggest secret in this episode is the dark plan that Dukat and the Dominion have to destroy the Bajoran sun. Yikes! What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Rebinging Star Trek DS9: In Purgatory's Shadow Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 5 episode 14 of Rebinge Deep Space Nine: In Purgatory's Shadow. Last week we had Eddington back, this week it's Garak! Worf and Garak head out on a mission together and really everything goes wrong from there. It's good to have Garak back in an episode but unfortunately we also have to put up with Gul Dukat. Along with some drama, we get several big surprises in this episode! In Purgatory's Shadow When a mysterious Cardassian message is received from deep in the Gamma Quadrant, Garak tries to sneak away in a runabout. Turns out the message is from Enabran Tain (Dad!) and Garak feels obligated to follow the lead. Sisko agrees, but sends Worf along to keep an eye on things. Well nothing good ever happens in the Gamma Quadrant and today is no different. What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Please listen to some of our favorite episodes like Duet, The Visitor or Rejoined or our VERY SPECIAL episode: Star Trek First Contact.
