What is the point of the law if it just makes people rigid? We've all met someone who knows the rules inside and out, yet seems entirely hardened by them. But God wants something better for us: a heart of flesh, soft and responsive to His Spirit. This Sunday, we'll explore how we can grow in our understanding of God's truth without losing our tenderness. Join us as we look at how the Spirit transforms the law from a burden into a blessing.
In Matthew 15, Pastor Karl walks through two encounters that reveal how Jesus responds to very different kinds of people. The first is a confrontation with the Pharisees — religious leaders who had mastered looking clean on the outside while leaving their hearts completely untouched. Jesus exposes their hypocrisy and makes clear that the real issue is never what comes in from the outside, but what flows out from within. The second is a striking contrast: a Canaanite woman from Tyre and Sidon who comes to Jesus with nothing to offer — no credentials, no leverage, no religious standing. She simply cries out for mercy. When Jesus seems silent and even dismissive, she doesn't leave offended. She presses in, clings to grace, and receives what the Pharisees never could: a direct word of commendation from Jesus himself — "Great is your faith."God honors a transformed heart and exposes religious hypocrisy. And he blesses according to his grace — not our worthiness. This message is an invitation to stop trying to leverage God and start crying out for his mercy.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 8:00am, 9:30am & 11:00am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

What if being united to God begins with being cut open? In this episode of Draw Near, we explore Romans 11 and the powerful image of being “grafted” into God. Using the biblical metaphor of the olive tree, St. Paul reveals something profound about the spiritual life: union with God is living, dependent, and deeply transformative. Grafting is no gentle process. It requires cutting, exposure, and vulnerability before new life can take hold. And the same is true in our relationship with God. He does not simply improve us from the outside; he works within us, cutting away what is hardened so that we can receive his life more fully. We reflect on how God is the root who sustains us, how we are invited to remain in him, and what it means to bear interior fruit fruit that comes not from our own strength, but from grace. Drawing connections to Ezekiel 36 and the promise of a new heart, this episode invites you to consider how God may be at work in the hidden places of your life; and what areas of your own life have you hardened? If you've ever wrestled with vulnerability, struggled to trust God in the midst of difficulty, or wondered how real transformation actually happens—this conversation is for you. Like our podcast? It turns our that this show is so good, that even a money saver dialogue heavy epiosde in the Hell Caves is still going to be a banger as we review "Heart of Stone". We find Odo in a moment of crisis when he, Kira, and Special Guest Star Runabout wind up getting vicitimized by bad special effects. Meanwhile the B plot actually works this time as Nog figures out the Food and Bev industry might not be for him.

The cooking metaphor in Ezekiel 11 packs a powerful punch. God reveals Jerusalem as a pot where rebellious Israel will be "cooked" through the fires of Babylonian judgment. Yet remarkably, this severe message comes with an unexpected promise of restoration.Standing at the temple's east gate, Ezekiel confronts false prophets spreading dangerous security messages. The archaeological confirmation of specific leaders mentioned—Jehozaniah and Pelatiah—adds striking historical credibility to this ancient text. When Ezekiel accurately predicts Pelatiah's death from his exilic position in Babylon, he establishes his prophetic authority in real-time.The heart of this passage reveals God's complex relationship with His covenant people. Despite centuries of rebellion culminating in child sacrifice and temple desecration, God makes a stunning promise. Not only will He regather scattered Israel to their land, but He will perform spiritual heart surgery—removing their "heart of stone" and replacing it with a "heart of flesh" capable of genuine obedience. This transformation transcends the physical return from Babylonian exile. It points to a future spiritual renewal where obedience becomes natural rather than forced. God emphasizes that this restoration comes not because of Israel's merit but for the sake of His own name and covenant faithfulness. The tension between judgment and promise creates a profound spiritual principle: God must judge rebellion, yet remains unwaveringly committed to His covenant promises. This paradox reveals divine character in its fullness—righteous in judgment, faithful in promise.Have you experienced this tension in your spiritual journey? Consider how God's discipline might actually demonstrate His deeper commitment to relationship and transformation in your life.Support the showThank you for listening!! Ezekiel | Heart Of Stone | Pastor Chris Heller Ezekiel 35 & 36 Have you ever known someone who had a stubborn, cold, heart of stone toward the things of God? Maybe that's even a part of your testimony? In Ezekiel 36:26 God says, “And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” Do we have the faith to believe that God is still in the business of softening and restoring hearts of stone?

Jesus was the model of the non-dualistic life, deliberately going outside the socially acceptable boundaries. As we follow him, we learn to remove the barriers, to accept others, to see similarities, not differences, and move into relationships with love. God will always supply us with love when ours runs out.
Living with an undivided heart means we see all people as part of our group, every nationality, color, religious belief, sexual orientation, political party, etc. Even closer to home, those in our family, church, neighborhood, and work place are to be included. Sectioning off groups and individuals is dualism and limits the life God asks us to live.
Dualism is an attitude of judgment and exclusion, defining those we will love and those we will hate or dismiss. Dualism creates divisions. God asks us to love as Jesus did, without parameters, seeing all people as equal, as God's creations, worthy of respect. It is an attitude that starts in our heart.
