Episode Notes Lots of hot takes in our intro. Dax negging Worf. Quark's ex-wife! Worf... picks on Morn, and then pretends to be a traditional Klingon. Worf sulks in a corner while Dax and Quark talk about Grilka. Is Worf a Klingon weeb, or is he just autistic? Quark has to fight another Klingon. Quark meat puppet time! Dax victorious. Oh yeah there's a b-plot too! The OTHER O'Briens. Polyamorous domesticity. Meat Odo's surprisingly interested in gossip. Miles and Kira feel the fanfiction. Of all the male characters on station, does Kira have the most chemistry with Miles? The Enterprise is a place where people work, DS9 is a place where people live. “The Circle” 30th-anniversary reflections The plans of the Bajoran group known as The Circle become clear thanks to an unexpected source—Quark—who has been newly christened Odo's number-one deputy (Quark's words). The group is being supplied with weapons by another unexpected source, the Cardassians. Who's running The Circle? Well, that's also a bit unexpected. But one thing that is clear from the start is that Vedek Bareil has the hots for Kira. It's all setup in the middle part of Star Trek's first three-parter. TrekRanks - Member of The Tricorder Transmissions : a Star Trek Podcast Network

Peldar joi, everyone! It's time for a festival celebration at TrekRanks as we take on the “Top 5 Bajoran Episodes” with our expert panel of host Jim Moorhouse and guests Brooke Horton and Duncan Barrett. Since their debut on The Next Generation, Bajorans have provided some of the most layered and contextualized storytelling in all of Star Trek, and this episode gets deep into the cultural, religious and historical context Bajorans have provided throughout Deep Space Nine and beyond. This one includes quite a few hot takes, just like your favorite hasperat, made with the most tongue-searing, spicy brine! Episode Rundown:  Diagnostic Cycle: Where we briefly get into the details of defining the show's specific topic and run through a roll call of previous “species” featured on TrekRanks. Prime Directive: Each guest on this week's panel reveals exactly how they narrowed down their list and made their final choices. The Order of Things: All the picks are revealed with the TrekRanks' original “Five words and a hashtag” summary. Secondary Systems: For a few extra picks that just missed our final list. Regeneration Cycle: The panel recaps their picks and we dissect some of the interesting statistical anomalies that arose from the discussion. Temporal Inversion: We flashback to a previous episode of TrekRanks and relay some of the feedback received from listeners. If you have your own picks you would like to relay to us, please hail us at 757-828-RANK (7265) and record your own personal TrekRanks log to let us know your Top 5 Bajoran Episodes. (Or you can record it yourself and just DM us @TrekRanks.com on Bluesky.) Your comments could be used as part of a Temporal Causality Loop on an upcoming episode (and might get you a chance to be a guest on a future episode, too). And don't forget to check out TrekRanks.com for our entire back catalog of episodes and a detailed rundown on every episode of Star Trek ever.

Wrapped in an anthology episode, five vignettes follow the lives of select bridge crew members - Captain Freeman, Commander Ransom, Lieutenant Shax, Lieutenant Commander Billups, and Dr. T'Ana - through their day aboard the Cerritos. Our podcast has been under siege by legendary Bajoran war hero Li Nalas for three episodes now. I'm not sure how much longer we can hold out. Who could ever hope to withstand the creative and thematic might of Li Nalas? Perhaps it's time to submit to his glory and declare him to be Star Trek's greatest character. Or maybe not. Either way, let's see if we can make it through this trilogy climaxing episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Episode discussion starts at 18:20. As with many DS9 episodes, Kira gets to kick butt in this one. So does that make her The Homecoming Queen? She certainly is my book. Man, imagine taking Kira to the Homecoming Dance. That floor would get lit. Seriously though, Kira would no doubt be in a phaser fight by the end of the night, busting out all those Bajoran terrorist moves on her Cardassian oppressors trying to kill her right to party. Hopefully, she can put those moves to good use in this season opening episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Episode discussion starts at 18:47. Episode Notes Defiant: You know this is a utopia when the doctor can order vacations. Dax clearly thinks that Kira banged Riker. Because Dax also clearly banged Riker. You know something's wrong when someone is mean to O'Brien. Villainous Goatee! What happens if you put aluminum foil in the replicator? Kira being the A-plot main character is very pre-2001. Using the Maqis and the Bajoran rebellion as examples of morally grey terrorism is not ideal. Reading Enterprise logs must be sanity-wrecking. Fascination: DS9 does a sex farce. Bashir has significant leeway to diagnose colleagues as "assholes". Lwaxana Troi may be the galaxy's worst seatmate, but it is pretty fun to see her making Odo uncomfortable. What ARE jumja sticks? Oh hey, Xanthi fever. Sisko knows something's wrong when people want to cancel dinner. Jake has rizz. Lwaxana's Google Alerts include Odo, Captain Picard, and sex festivals. On the other hand, the O'Briens' relationship plot feels really grounded and realistic. We are joined this week by Nathan Polette and Steve Duda! Episode Notes S3E5: Second Skin S3E6: The Abandoned Second Skin: Sisko bullies Garak. Cardassians seem to have very good cosmetic surgery for a lizard species. The Cardassian Sleeper Agent program is weird. Cardassians use unlabeled data crystals. Cardassia has much more depth to it than normal "enemy" cultures, or even most non-Earth cultures. The Abandoned: Justen loves a hot pirate lady. Odo now has a room for his bucket. 16-20 is not an age gap that we feel great about but it's... okay for some reasons we lay out. Sisko and Miles dadding is great. The concept of the nature/nurture thing is good, but the end result strays real close to "crack baby". The fact that Odo is willing to throw his entire life away to save one orphan is great, and it's run over by the actual plot. BabSpace9 is a production of the Okay, So network. Episode Notes Yes, it's a three-parter, but all three are GREAT. Welcome to season 2 of DS9. The Homecoming: Call your factions one thing and just roll with it. Every character choice for O'Brien is "working class hero". Gul Dukat's statement is basically "we're sorry we got caught." Wait, is this a B5 episode? The Circle: Kira's hunka hunka monk. The Bajoran monasteries must constantly be ordering 55 gallon tubs of baja blast lube. "Here is our traditional garb, the banana hammock". Odo deputizes Quark? Nothing says Bajoran independence like Cardassian torture. The Siege: Nasty fascist republican sex. Benjamin "Not on my watch, motherfuckers" Sisko isn't having the Federation's limp-dick hands-off approach. Nog and Jake are best boys. Trill are psychic-type and thus weak to bug type. Julian is dramatic. Jadzia gets even more depth. Odo and Quark are the two most married characters in Star Trek. O'Brien Suffers level: Ride or die for Kira. rejected titles for this episode: Their monks can fuck The ceremonial banana hammock Sure he's a sex pest but he's honest about it Nasty Fascist Republican Sex Hunka Hunka Monk No one touches Sisko's Balls BabSpace9 is a production of the Okay, So network.
