Hitting "pause" and trying to get off the golf course by making pars is the wrong mindset. If you do that you are sure to make bogeys so I knew I had to push myself. So I kept pushing and pushing into that "Zone of Discomfort", didn't bail on myself throughout the round and gave myself a chance to shoot 59 with a putt on 18. I'm really proud of that round as it was a magically exhilarating experience." I'm not saying that we built deWiz all by ourselves. We are team players. I know some things and I don't know a lot of other things". I know golf and I've learned a lot about tech. I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology, which ties in very good to dewiz. ." There is a family behind them, friends, a manager and multiple coaches that make up the team. So to suceed, you have to be able to handle your team regarding the physical, mental, financial and logistical challenges that arise. Golf is a brutal game and it's a game about managing mistakes. Looking at a professional golf career, you have more failures than successes and that gives you a thick skin that builds up your resilience. Golf gives you a North Star to define what success means to you and to appreciate the journey. You have to truly love the game, whether it's the game of entrepreneurship or the game of golf. And when you do that, I believe you will end up in good places." Special Guest: Markus Westerberg, Co-Founder of deWiz.

Seasons greetings to you all Thank you so much for your support in the last 12 months It is very much appreciated On the Brain Booster we thought we would end the year with a ‘fireside chat” about the Lost Art of Golf book with co author Gary Nicol and co contributor Markus Westerberg We get the chance to discuss some of the key concepts in the book In particular we look at perhaps THE most important question ‘Why do you play golf?’ We explore how you can fall into the trap of playing the game for ‘other people’ How your ego can be distracted by the attention the game can give us What if we had a simple goal of…….. How good can I get? How this question creates a SAFE PLACE to play the game from How this mindset puts you in a place where you LOOK for challenges instead of seeking the safety of ego satisfaction The beauty of being challenged by the game itself Can I shape the ball? Can I affect the trajectory of the ball? The importance of QUALITY questions How effective questions can really change your perception of the game Graeme McDowell once said ‘Questions are indeed the answer’ How good questions can help you to get the best out of your game TODAY A simple question: What can I do on this hole TODAY? The ability to be able to deal with whatever you have today The skill of ADAPTABILTY How watching golf on TV can be so misleading and how we can be misled into believing that all bad shots are because our golf swing has changed Perception and reality How we can look to TRAIN better for the game How we can think differently about our own game as a PERSONAL quest to get better It was wonderful to catch up with Gary and Markus and discuss the concepts in the Lost Art of Golf Both of these coaches have an absolute WEALTH of knowledge in the game. Spending time with them is always beneficial They both get you to THINK They both get you to look at the game DIFFERENTLY To find out more about Gary Nicol go to www.tpegs.com To find out more about Markus Westerberg Go to www.markuswesterberg.com To get YOUR copy of The Lost Art of Golf go to www.thelostartofgolf.com To find out about the Mind Factor Go to www.themindfactor.com

And of course a big Masters-preview with focus on Jordan Spieths mental status and Frida Kinhults big decision...I pilotavsnittet träffar Martin Markus Westerberg, golftränare på Ljunghusens Golfklubb och författare till boken Golfarens Sjätte Sinne.Markus berättar om sina äventyr i golfens värld, som förde honom från de nordligaste delarna av Sverige till att spela tävlingar över hela världen.Golfens nya regler diskuteras också precis som Martins runda med Ryder Cup-legendaren Manuel Piñero.Oh! Today we have a fantastic guest on the show. Markus Westerberg who grew up in the North of Sweden and played many sports as a child. After school he quit his second sport, ice hockey, to pursue his dream of becoming a golf professional. After a successful amateur career, he turned professional in 1994 and spent over 15 years on the golf tours of the world earning 8 victories. Today he works as a full time golf coach, author and speaker. Markus lives and in the South of Sweden and coaches out of the prestigious Ljunghusen Golf Club. Apart from golf, Markus´passion is people and especially the human mind. This passion brought him to Lund University and a BA of Science in Psychology. Markus has written a book called ‘The Golfers Sixth Sense’ which should be a must read for anyone interested in becoming the best golfing version of themselves. Today we discuss: The psychomotor system and why we swing like we do How golf swings emerge as a result of the concepts we have How the mind influences the swing and how the swing influences the mind ‘The fundamental paradox’. What makes a golf ball fly effectively. Why understanding impact conditions is such a vital part of your golfing development. How fear is created as a result of your swing patterns. Why questions are so vital to create understanding in the student. How swings can fix automatically with the correct understanding. How focus affects us from both a learning and perhaps more importantly a PERFORMANCE. How the outside can change the inside. The effects of our environment and how we can ‘self organise’ if the task is clear. Why putting on poor greens can actually make you a better putter. How you need to learn the art of PREDICTION to be great on the greens. The drawback with hitting the same putt over and over again. How children ‘know’ how to practice and then adults manage to forget. Post putt and pre putt information and how misleading this can be. The illusion of control and how blocked practice CAN be misleading in terms of RETENTION. How looking like you are ‘working hard’ can be very destructive. You are judged not by your movements but the EFFECTS of that movement. A really interesting session with a deep thinking coach who has researched so much about the best way to learn and the best way to perform. To get in touch with Markus go www.markuswesterberg.com He also has his own YouTube Channel called the ‘Golfers Sixth Sense’ To find out about Karl and the Mind Factor programmes go to www.themindfactor.com
