Can technology really make you a better golfer—or does it simply confirm what you already know? In this fascinating episode of The Mind Caddie, Karl Morris is joined by Henri Johnson, CEO and founder of FlightScope, to explore how launch monitor technology can transform your game when it's used with purpose. Henri shares the remarkable story behind FlightScope's journey, from developing radar systems for the military to revolutionising ball tracking in cricket, tennis and, ultimately, golf. Along the way, he explains why accurate feedback—not guesswork—is the key to meaningful improvement. Together, Karl and Henri discuss the importance of understanding impact, why consistency beats chasing distance, and how golfers can use technology to develop genuine skill rather than simply collecting data. It's a thought-provoking conversation about deliberate practice, curiosity and learning, reminding us that technology without learning is just entertainment. If you've ever wondered whether a launch monitor is worth the investment, or how to use one to genuinely lower your scores, this episode is packed with practical advice from two experts who believe better information leads to better performance. In this episode you'll discover: Why impact—not swing appearance—is the true skill in golf. The fascinating story of how FlightScope evolved from military radar to golf technology. Why launch monitors should be used to develop skills, not simply gather numbers. The importance of reducing variability before chasing more distance. How improving strike location can dramatically improve your scores. Why having a coach alongside technology accelerates learning. The role of deliberate practice and honest feedback in long-term improvement. How technology builds confidence by replacing guesswork with certainty. Why curiosity and a clear improvement plan are essential for every golfer. Practical advice on choosing the right FlightScope product for your game. Whether you're a weekend golfer, a serious competitor or a coach looking to help players improve, this episode offers invaluable insights into using technology the right way—and becoming a smarter, more confident golfer. Send us Fan MailWe sit down with Karl Morris to dig into The Mind Caddy and the Mind Factor certification, then we challenge the myth that great golf requires perfect thoughts or a perfect state. We break down how attention, acceptance, and adaptable tasks help us access the skills we already have when pressure shows up. • Karl's motivation for writing an accessible mental game book built around 46 real coaching lessons • why “being in the zone” is not the goal and how top players perform with uncomfortable thoughts • attention as the currency of performance and the skill of becoming an “attention detective” • separating from thoughts by changing our relationship to them rather than trying to control them • managing the in-between time on the course using senses, awareness, and simple resets • stable confidence through accepting the reality of ones, twos, and threes in every round • using pre-round journaling and “if then” planning to avoid default reactions under stress • adaptability over consistency and letting the shot create the swing on the course • shrinking the task when the world feels too big and noticing the stories we tell ourselves The book, The Mind Caddy, it's available across the world on Amazon. What if the biggest improvement in your golf wasn't in your swing—but in your awareness? In this fascinating conversation, Karl Morris welcomes back renowned coach Jim Waldron to explore one of the most overlooked skills in golf: the ability to pay attention. Drawing on decades of coaching experience, neuroscience, mindfulness and performance psychology, Jim explains why awareness is the foundation of every great golf swing—and why so many golfers unknowingly sabotage themselves by living inside their own thoughts. Together they explore practical ways to quiet the mind, improve body awareness and develop the kind of focus that allows great golf to emerge naturally. Whether you're trying to improve your swing, overcome fear on the course or simply enjoy golf more, this episode offers a completely different perspective on how lasting improvement really happens. In this episode you'll discover: ⛳ Why awareness is the missing ingredient in most golfers' improvement. ⛳ How body awareness (proprioception) accelerates swing changes. ⛳ Why thinking more often leads to playing worse. ⛳ Practical mindfulness exercises you can use before every round. ⛳ How staying present between shots improves rhythm, tempo and performance. ⛳ The powerful "Snow Globe" analogy for understanding your mind. ⛳ Why observation is more effective than constantly trying to fix your swing. ⛳ How meditation and golf can become the very same practice. If you've ever felt trapped by swing thoughts, overthinking or inconsistent performances, this episode could fundamentally change the way you approach both golf and life. Listen now to discover why your greatest performance breakthrough may come from learning to pay attention—not trying harder. What really separates great golfers from the rest? In this episode of The Mind Caddie Podcast, Karl Morris is joined by top coach and former tour player Randy Joyner to unpack the mental and technical lessons from the US Open — and how everyday golfers can use them to play better under pressure. Together, Karl and Randy explore why so many golfers get trapped in overthinking their swing, how elite players stay present when the pressure is at its highest, and why the real key to better golf may be learning to focus on shots, not swing mechanics. They discuss Wyndham Clark's US Open win, the importance of acceptance, composure and attention control, and why golfers at every level can improve by understanding low point control, club-ground interaction, and the mental skills that create freedom on the course. The conversation also dives into putting, practice habits, anxiety, confidence, and why trying to control every technical detail can actually hold your game back. If you want to stop getting in your own way, improve your focus, and learn how better players really think their way around a golf course, this is an episode you won't want to miss. Instagram: @thegolfhypnotherapist Twitter: @parsoverbogeys Key Takeaways: Attention is the true currency of performance – In golf and in life, where you place your attention determines your results and your experience. Better questions create better focus – Asking “What does a good shot look like here?” can instantly direct your mind toward a clear, useful target. Gamifying your mental game builds consistency – The “tick game” creates a measurable way to track focus and commitment on every shot. Acceptance fuels resiliency – Being willing to deal with the reality of the game (good shots, okay shots, poor shots) allows you to bounce back faster. Golf is an opportunity, not a threat – Viewing each shot as a chance rather than a danger shifts physiology, mindset, and performance. Key Quotes: “Attention is the currency of performance.” “You don't have to believe what you think; there's a difference between having thoughts and deliberate thinking.” “The quality of your life will be determined by the quality of your questions.” “Acceptance isn't being happy about a bad shot—it's being willing to deal with the reality of the game.” “We're making it all up anyway—so make up something that serves you.” Time Stamps: 00:00: Attention as the Currency of Performance 02:57: The Power of Questions in Golf 05:51: Gamifying the Mental Game 08:42: Resiliency and Acceptance in Golf 11:38: The Role of Curiosity and Observation 14:32: Framework for Mental Training 17:31: The Four Quadrants of Mental Game 25:53: Understanding the In-Between Time in Golf 26:31: The Power of Presence: Tuning into the Senses 29:19: Mental Game: Training Attention Away from the Course 31:43: The Impact of Modern Distractions on Focus 36:30: Translating Range Skills to the Course 40:33: The Importance of Identity in Golf Performance 42:55: Gratitude: The Key to Enjoying the Game 44:54: Innovative Tools for Golf Improvement

On today's show, we have a solo run touching on a subject, very dear to my heart, the concept of ‘I will be happy when' How we all fall into the trap of putting off our enjoyment of life for for some perceived moment off in the future, when the stars will align everything will come together, and I will be happy ever after as a result of achieving X Y or Z. You can fill in the blanks that may be winning a major tournament. It may be winning the club championship or breaking 100 for the first time never mind creates the stories of perceived happiness off in the future, and it can be so destructive to her actual enjoyment of the game right now. Not only destructive. It actually creates a lot of tension in the system in extreme cases real fear and anxiety. Even the great Rory McIlroy seems to have fallen into the trap of this after winning the US Masters, and seemingly afterwards falling into some kind of malaise and unhappiness. He is human like the rest of us within this, but I feel there is a way out of this by really understanding the value of seen through the illusion and then falling in love with the idea of being on the path to mastery. Karl shares some key insights. How are you can embrace this philosophy to liberate your own game, and get so much closer to your true potential Enjoy this solo offering and don't forget to give us a review wherever you get your Podcasts, why not subscribe or follow it's FREE To get on board with the Mind Caddie and join us on the journey go to https://www.mindcaddie.golf/ OFFICIAL BRAND AMBASSADOR : Fenix Apparel and Accessories Co. Another great chat with performance coach Karl Morris. We go into detail on the power of “attention” on the golf course and how to bring your range game to the course. We also dive into being aware of your thoughts and attitude in between shots and not contaminating shots after a bad hole or shot. The mind caddie app is an absolute must have and I highly recommend it for anyone serious about their game. It was a tournament like no other with incredible drama that put is all through a rollercoaster of emotions as Rory secured the Green Jacket and became a member of that most exclusive club of golf's Grand Slam winners. Yet in the euphoria of the win and the endless post tournament analysis did we all miss something in terms of Rory's response to the win on the final green? Top coach and good friend of the show Garret Kramer thinks so In this fascinating conversation we go a good bit deeper than what may or may not have been happening on the surface Among many other things we discuss: What was REALLY going on in that last round at Augusta? What can we all learn from Rory's experience? The reaction to the winning putt The outpouring of relief as opposed to joy The nature of SEEKING and what it does to performance Seeking identity and worthiness through objects in the materialistic world When we stop seeking we experience relief The seemingly impossible variation in the shots Rory played in the final round The nature of LETTING GO How letting go affects our physical movement The ‘veiling of consciousness' when we seek outside validation Why the ‘pot of gold' isn't worth as much as we think it is Finding out what is truly important to us To find out more about Garret Kramer go to https://www.garretkramer.com/ To Join Marcus Bell and Karl Morris for two wonderful days at West Herts Golf Club for the GRF schools June 12th and 13th Take action and click on this link https://bg6ot.r.sp1-brevo.net/mk/cl/f/sh/SMK1E8tHeG13EwyIU7dDcOCotXBW/o_3ucfYmTEr7 To get on board with the Mind Caddie and join us on the journey go to https://www.mindcaddie.golf/ OFFICIAL BRAND AMBASSADOR : Fenix Apparel and Accessories Co. In part 1 of this conversation with Karl Morris, we discussed the importance of building skill, rather than obsessing over golf swing. And how you can access that skill through having a more optimistic view of the circumstances you're in. But that was mostly concept. In part 2, I want to make it more concrete. I want something for the player that is in the middle of a bad round and needs something to go to. A tactic to put into place to help them through it. A way to adapt to changes in the environment or in ourselves. Karl Morris guides us through some great ways to do just that. ----- Karl Morris's podcast: Mind Caddie Apple: Mind Caddie Spotify: Mind Caddie ----- Get 10% off a Divot Board! The Skill of ACCEPTANCE and why it is SO important to develop – Karl Morris Why you will always fall short of your true capability without this skill Thanks for joining me on today's Brain Booster which is a solo run from me. I wanted to take the opportunity to bring together some of the key concepts from the previous months and some of the recent guests. Are you going to take ACTION and become a Certified Mind Factor coach? Join us for a wonderful three days in Manchester in November Get in touch at https://themindfactor.net/the-certification-course/ At the heart of so much of what we have been discussing is the SKILL of acceptance. If we are not willing to be ok with the variability of potential outcomes the game can throw at us then we will always be at less than our best. Acceptance is NOT resignation. We are not trying to pretend to be happy after a bad shot or a missed putt but we ARE willing to deal with the reality and move on So many people are sold the idea that this swing fix or this ‘secret' will PROTECT them from a poor outcome yet in reality NOTHING will ever protect us from the need to develop a robust relationship to undesired outcomes Acceptance is an ongoing set of skills that requires a diligent and consistent approach Today I will share with you the building blocks of acceptance Skills that have helped many players at all levels to ACCESS their current skills Why the skill acceptance begins well before the round starts Why ‘contamination' of your shots is such an issue The value of journaling Why making a commitment to develop acceptance is so important What acceptance does to your physiology Why the expression of your technical skill is dependent on your acceptance skills An opportunity for you to really bring together and clarify some of the key Brain Booster concepts of the previous few months HOW you can actually take action and release more of your capabilities ....Enjoy! Today on the Brain Booster we have a live recording of a webinar I conducted with Raymond Prior. The event was over subscribed with people trying to get into the Zoom call after it was full. During the webinar we discussed the key concept of ‘Separating SELF from CRAFT' How can we develop the capability to create some space between our capability as a golfer and our self image as a human being How being ‘concerned' about our value as a human is tied to our evolutionary development The early messages we receive as youngsters from important people around us and how this can weave into our identity The need to develop a ‘SAFE PLACE' to play from How our performance can become a THREAT to our identity How this leads to unstable confidence Why your relationship to the game can become so toxic The necessity to ask yourself the question ‘Why do I play golf?' Not to take your initial answer but to look deeper to what is REALLY important to you What are your INTRINSIC and SELF DIRECTED values to play the game? Challenging your core BELIEFS to see if they REALLY work for you The fragility of EXTRINSIC values and why you can never ‘get enough' The need to JOURNAL your experiences and why that is so important What am I committed to TODAY? Think about WHY you play golf WHEN you play golf Being INTENTIONAL and on purpose This is a wonderful session with Raymond and Karl as they go into some real detail as to how to get the very best from your game Take ACTION and get yourself a copy of the stable confidence program BUILDING STABLE CONFIDENCE – THE NEW PROGRAM To get your copy of the brand new program with Raymond Prior and Karl Morris It will truly make a BIG difference to your development Link to buy: Building Stable Confidence

What is the true nature of thought? What is actually creating our experience BEFORE the content of our thinking? The difference between having a clear INTENTION about the shot as opposed to falling into the trap of thinking ‘what does this shot say about me?'
