On today's show we have a special coach in the shape of Denmark's Andreas Kali who has overseen the development of numerous top players in Denmark. Due to his incredible results with so many players he has become one of the hottest coaches in golf We had a really wonderful conversation about the philosophy behind the success he has been getting in Denmark In particular about the development of the players a people not just golfers The need to create an environment of fun and learning in practice. Not just fun in the conventional sense but the fun of being REALLY engaged in the training you are doing Andreas talked about some of the setback he encountered as a player and how he wants to help his own players short circuit that learning He talked about the THREE CORE elements that drive all of his lessons and the training environments   Does this get the ball CLOSER to the target Does this PREVENT injury Does this enhance the LOVE of the game If your coaching is not addressing those needs then is it REALLY making a difference? We talked about LOW POINT in the swing and how this simple focus of attention can make such a huge difference to most golfers enjoyment of the game but also their performance Keeping players in the game for longer Not everyone is going to be a champion but can we keep players engaged in a way that doesn't threaten their identity as a human being You will find this conversation fascinating and you will begin to see why Andreas has been so incredibly successful with so many young players To find out more about Andreas Kali go to https://andreaskaligolf.com/ To start your FREE Mind Caddie 7 day trial go to https://www.mindcaddie.golf/ To book your Mind Caddie workshop at your club go to www.themindfactor.com To book your place on the ‘Lost Art of Golf' school get in touch at www.themindfactor.com OFFICIAL BRAND AMBASSADOR : Fenix Apparel and Accessories Co. What will ACTUALLY make a difference to your golf and life  Today on the Mind Caddie we welcome back my good friend and colleague Jim Waldron. This is a recording of a live presentation Jim gave to the Mind Factor coaches Jim is an outstanding coach with an absolute wealth of experience. This seminar is for the really dedicated coach or player. There are some challenging concepts in here that have the potential to make a really BIG difference to your game and indeed your life. In the session we talked about: The dangers of spending TOO much time in your own internal world. Becoming too absorbed in your own thoughts. The opportunity in golf to develop the skills of going EXTERNAL. In between shots having the capability to go to your SENSORY experience. What can you SEE, HEAR or FEEL? Having the DISTINCTION between the TWO WORLDS of INTERNAL and EXTERNAL What focused attention actually is The absolute ‘rules of the road' with swing changes The need for slow motion swings and FEELING the extremes either side of correct Why information alone will never create swing changes What is the correct ‘dose' of practice Making the movement patterns UNCONSCIOUS The difference between working on the swing and PERFORMING the swing on the course The need to develop a FOCAL POINT on the course Developing a ‘basket' of focal points to take out onto the course Developing the ‘Let's SEE what HAPPENS' mindset What is the essential nature of the unconscious mind? The ‘watchdog' of the unconscious mind. Why the unconscious mind often ‘believes' a yip is actually helping The opportunity to ‘sit' in the presence of a great coach interacting with other coaches and developing so many key concepts and ideas To find out more about Jim Waldron and his great work go to https://balancepointgolf.com/ To start your FREE Mind Caddie 7 day trial go to https://www.mindcaddie.golf/ To book your Mind Caddie workshop at your club go to www.themindfactor.com To book your place on the ‘Lost Art of Golf' school get in touch at www.themindfactor.com OFFICIAL BRAND AMBASSADOR : Fenix Apparel and Accessories Co. A potential way back to playing with less pain On today's Mind Caddie we go in a slightly different direction but nevertheless one that I am sure will apply to so many people. PAIN!! A lot of us are playing golf in some form of pain or other It may be acute pain or chronic pain Chronic pain is at epidemic proportions  If you have had pain for over 6 months it is now a chronic issue And as todays guest ‘The Pain PT' Jim Prussack explains it is not as simple and as straightforward as we may believe. All pain is generated by the brain which doesn't mean that the ‘pain is in your head' It is real and it hurts But as Jim wonderfully explains when you understand the role of the brain in pain you can go in a different direction. Much pain is a result of the brains PERCEPTION Feeling of threat When we reduce the threat we reduce the pain reaction So much of this ties in with what we have explored on the Mind Caddie about the perception of threat and performance You will find this interview fascinating and it may just give you some hope of  different way to approach your pain To find out about Jim's work go to https://www.thepainpt.com/ To start your FREE Mind Caddie 7 day trial go to https://www.mindcaddie.golf/ To book your Mind Caddie workshop at your club go to www.themindfactor.com

This question has driven Cameron in his quest for years How can we give golfers the smallest amount of information that has the biggest effect? The technical overload we are all suffering from Why the default is to seek out more information We are designed to use tools skilfully yet we often ignore that fact The biomechanical research on efficient movement What if the game was just like making an underarm throw? Would you feel capable of doing that? How much would that simplify things? Make a throwing motion with the club How simplification increases feel As we discussed Cameron firmly believes that the game of golf COULD be as simple as throwing a ball If the game becomes more simple then you are free to focus on other things like the golf course and actually enjoying your experience To get Cameron's book go to https://www.autogolfshop.com/unfck-your-golf-swing/ To start your FREE Mind Caddie 7 day trial go to https://www.mindcaddie.golf/ To book your Mind Caddie workshop at your club go to www.themindfactor.com OFFICIAL BRAND AMBASSADOR : Fenix Apparel and Accessories Co. Today on the podcast we are joined by Dr Laura Carey and Caesar Bayliss from Perception Sport Download Mind Caddie for hundreds of short audio lessons and exercises produced by Karl and start improving your mental game the same way as six major champions: https://mindcaddie.onelink.me/7xjx/znldwgbi  Laura has conducted some amazing research around putting over the past number of years in particular around gaze control and also brain activity prior to actually hitting the putt. What she has uncovered has the potential to transform the way putting is both learned and performed. Are you going to take ACTION and become a Certified Mind Factor coach? Join us for a wonderful three days in Manchester in November Get in touch at https://themindfactor.net/the-certification-course/  The conversation will REALLY get you thinking about the way you approach your game on the greens. In our time together we looked at: The difference in brain activity just before the stroke is made between successful and unsuccessful putters. Why doubt over the ball is so detrimental to performance How this increases brain activity which then compromises your stroke Why a line on the ball may not be the most effective strategy Why practicing with putting aids and gadgets can be of limited value The role of the eyes in supplying information for your putt The value of ‘quiet eye' Busy eyes make for a bust brain How to train to then perform Why you shouldn't just keep hitting putt after putt when you are training   This is a really refreshing and far reaching conversation that could potentially apply to the whole of your game A lot of what Laura and Caesar had to say resonated with many of the ideas presented by Gary Nicol and myself in the Lost Art of Putting Caesar Bayliss has been a PGA professional for over 20 years and specializes in putting. He coaches at The Wisley and other venues across the UK  Dr Laura Carey is a Lecturer at the University of the West of Scotland and a HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist. She has worked as an applied sport psychologist for over 15 years, offering support to a range of athletes, coaches and teams. Download Mind Caddie for hundreds of short audio lessons and exercises produced by Karl and start improving your mental game the same way as six major champions: https://mindcaddie.onelink.me/7xjx/znldwgbi  One of the secrets really stood out to me Socratic questioning and how being prepared to ‘go into' the problem you have with your game could actually help find a solution What would you ‘need' to do to slice the ball? Can you actually experience what you would need to do to deliberately create the ‘mistake'? This area of enquiry was just one of the fascinating topics that we managed to cover in a really wide ranging conversation: Why trying to get rid of the ‘ego' is the ultimate ego trip Playing to your strengths as a coach The uses and misuses of technology Becoming more of a SHOT coach Giving our shots a ‘name' The problem with ‘Method Coaching' and why this is perhaps the least effective coaching model The dangers of relying on our memory   Nick has had a very long and distinguished coaching career, studying with some of the world's best coaches like David Leadbetter and then going on to coach top players such as Justin Rose He is a deep thinker about the game and is refreshingly honest and forthright in his opinions of what we need to do to get the best from our game To find out more about Nick go to https://www.bradleygolf.com/ Get a copy of his latest book ‘The 50 Secrets to Great Golf you don't know about YET' Are you going to take ACTION and become a Certified Mind Factor coach? The current epidemic of burnout Self doubt and how even the very best can experience this on a regular basis What is REALLY driving the feeling of not being ‘good enough'? Coming from a position of SCARCITY and LACK Needing external validation for what we do Quietening the inner critic and allowing yourself to seek excellence Following a path that really matters to you Mastering and exploring your craft Why ‘Enough' isn't just sitting back and doing nothing The need to REST and RESTORE   How to avoid the trap of ‘working harder' in terms of your training as opposed to training efficiently Within the theme we have of looking at the game differently Becky provides a refreshingly alternative perspective. Nothing in the conversation suggests we shouldn't aim to maximise our skills but it does mean coming at it from a position of ‘enough' as opposed to a position of lack. He is the author of the book ‘Scratch Attitude' Are you going to take ACTION and become a Certified Mind Factor coach? Join us for a wonderful three days in Manchester in November Get in touch at https://themindfactor.net/the-certification-course/  Here is a great quote from his website "You see … before I  became a golfer I was a pioneer in the executive coaching field, My experience working with professional athletes and corporate leaders revealed this truth: Feelings precede thoughts. Or, to put it differently, you can't think positive when you feel negative."  Kent is a good golfer in his own right and he charts his own personal experiences of the game with a big following of players. The first time we spoke it was clear that Kent and I shared many similar trains of thought. In particular the importance of JOURNALING We had a truly memorable conversation discussing the numerous benefits of being a regular journal taker. It is something we have spoken about on this show and promoted heavily in the Mind Caddie app We discussed The difference between THINKING about gratitude and actually FEELING it The ability to be playful when you are hitting your shots Why journaling can help us to balance out the overload of information that is coming at us in the modern world Why evolution got us to focus on the negative and our mistakes How our thinking patterns become so habitual and how journaling can help shift this Why BALANCE is so important from an evolutionary perspective Why journaling can help us to still get something out of a bad outcome day on the course The ability to develop spontaneous acceptance and to be able to be NEUTRAL to the variety of outcomes. The importance of acknowledging the GOOD shots and the good experiences If this was your LAST round of golf how would you want to experience it? So much of what Kent says is based in real world experience and makes for that most elusive of qualities common sense. When you listen to him you realise just how precious this NEXT opportunity is to play the game. Take the plunge and embark on a year of journaling and just see what it can do for your game. The Skill of ACCEPTANCE and why it is SO important to develop – Karl Morris Why you will always fall short of your true capability without this skill Thanks for joining me on today's Brain Booster which is a solo run from me. Are you going to take ACTION and become a Certified Mind Factor coach? Join us for a wonderful three days in Manchester in November Get in touch at https://themindfactor.net/the-certification-course/  At the heart of so much of what we have been discussing is the SKILL of acceptance. If we are not willing to be ok with the variability of potential outcomes the game can throw at us then we will always be at less than our best. Acceptance is NOT resignation. We are not trying to pretend to be happy after a bad shot or a missed putt but we ARE willing to deal with the reality and move on So many people are sold the idea that this swing fix or this ‘secret' will PROTECT them from a poor outcome yet in reality NOTHING will ever protect us from the need to develop a robust relationship to undesired outcomes Acceptance is an ongoing set of skills that requires a diligent and consistent approach Today I will share with you the building blocks of acceptance Skills that have helped many players at all levels to ACCESS their current skills Why the skill acceptance begins well before the round starts Why ‘contamination' of your shots is such an issue The value of journaling Why making a commitment to develop acceptance is so important What acceptance does to your physiology Why the expression of your technical skill is dependent on your acceptance skills An opportunity for you to really bring together and clarify some of the key Brain Booster concepts of the previous few months HOW you can actually take action and release more of your capabilities ....Enjoy! People who have achieved what others may think as being the ‘ultimate' experience Yet often he detected there was an underlying dissatisfaction Champion Thinking is a counter to the ‘success evangelism' that is so prevalent. Typically, we think we'll be happy when X happens (the job, house, relationship, World Cup win, Olympic gold medal). However, frequently people reach the top of their success Everest and feel underwhelmed or even empty. But the experience of flow is inherently enjoyable. Why is that? Because as thoughts about past and future drop away, so does our identity and sense of self. And we love it when that happens! The trophy is just a symbol of that moment. That's why we love losing ourselves – in sport, music, conversation, books, dance – the portals are vast. While we think we want to become a ‘somebody', we are happiest when we experience being ‘nobody'. On that level, we are always at peace, whole and fulfilled. The trick then is to embody this recognition, even when we are not 'in flow', and this book can show you how. This is a great conversation exploring some of the deeper topics around our experience. What is ‘non duality'? How can we incorporate this in our everyday life? What is the difference between our ‘thinking mind' and our ‘observing mind'? How to create some separation from our thoughts so we don't get so caught up in the content of our thinking What are the best way to set goals? What does make us truly happy?
