Project a tribute to late Cold Spring shopkeeper Before her unexpected death on May 6, Stephanie Doucette, a Main Street shop owner and secretary for the Cold Spring Fire Co., had a project in mind. Doucette, who joined the company in 2023, thought a firefighter calendar could raise money for the volunteer department. She began working on concepts with photographer Quinn Chandler, an associate member of the CSFC. The calendar is now a reality, ready for 2025. It features interior firefighters Charlotte Brooks, Will Etta, Michael Bowman, Dawn Baisley, Matt Steltz, Josh DiNardo, Alex de Souza, Travis Fyfe and Matt Woods, and probationary firefighter Lauren de la Vega. There's also 32-year veteran Wayne Rudolph of the fire police and company president Aaron Leonard and his wife, Leslie, who portray Santa and Mrs. Claus in December. Brooks, who coordinated the project, said the firefighters had mixed reactions about having their photo included, decked out in their gear. "Some were excited, others were a little camera shy," she said. "But overall, there's overwhelming support for a project that Stephanie pioneered, and that exemplifies her love of this community." She said Doucette saw the calendar not only as a fundraiser but as a gift to CSFC members. Leonard said the fire company earlier this year created a committee, chaired by Brooks, to revitalize fundraising. In the past, CSFC raised money annually to cover the cost of new equipment, including vehicles. "Our operating expenses always exceed what we request from the Village of Cold Spring," he said. In the near future, the department will need new radios and pagers for its 24 active firefighters, a project Leonard said will likely exceed $50,000. Is this like a semi-retirement?  General News 01:44 TSA silent on CrowdStrike's claim Delta skipped required security update Delta isn't backing down with CrowdStrike, and in a court filing said CrowdStrike should be on the hook for the entire $500M in losses, partly because CrowdStrike has admitted that it should have done more testing and staggered deployments to catch bugs.  Delta further alleges that CrowdStrike postured as a certified best-in-class security provider who “never cuts corners,” while secretly designing its software to bypass Microsoft security certifications to make changes at the core of Delta's computer systems without Delta's knowledge.  Delta says they would never have agreed to such a dangerous process if it had been disclosed.  In its testimony to Congress, CrowdStrike said that they follow standard protocols, and that they are protecting against threats as they evolve. CrowdStrike is also accusing Delta of failing to follow laws, including best practices established by the TSA. According to CrowdStrike, most customers were up within a day of the issue – while Delta took 5 days.  Crowdstrike alleges that Delta's negligence caused this in following the TSA requirements designed to ensure that no major airline ever experiences prolonged system outages.  CrowdStrike realized Delta failed to follow the requirements when its efforts to help remediate the issue revealed alleged technological shortcomings and failures to follow security best practices, including outdated IT systems, issues in Delta's AD environment and thousands of compromised passwords. This is Episode 110 and our guest for the second time is Matt Woods. Matt is a singer and songwriter from East Tennessee who earlier this year completed a residence here in central Florida that he called Songs Matter where he and songwriters around the Sunshine State sat down to swap songs and talk about process. Since we last spoke he also released an outstanding EP called Mornings After, which could be my favorite of his wonderful catalog, and a re-release of his debut record the Matt Woods Manifesto which recently celebrated ten years in the world. Matt was the last Marinade interview we did just before the world shut down from the COVID-19 crisis. That week was my first time meeting him but he treated me like an old friend from day one.
