(Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Former Muslim beaten badly by three Ugandan Muslim sons A 52-year-old Christian in eastern Uganda was recovering from injuries after his Muslim sons attacked him for leaving Islam, reports Morning Star News. Kibirige Abumusa returned home on August 9 after an extended stay in Jinja City, where he had put his faith in Jesus Christ on June 1 at an open-air evangelistic event after which he stayed for discipleship. Immediately after Abumusa's conversion, a Muslim imam in Jinja City told his son Budallah.  Upon his father's return, Budallah questioned his father about abandoning Islam, calling him an infidel, and told him that he did not deserve to live because of his decision to leave Islam. Budallah struck Abumusa with a stick, and his four other sons joined in beating him. By the time neighbors arrived, Abumusa was weak, bleeding from the nose and had wounds on his hands, legs, and back. Islam teaches that killing a former Muslim earns the killer paradise. Muslims make up just 12 percent of Uganda's population. In Matthew 16:24, Jesus said, “If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.” Detroit pastor declares: “Satan, you will not steal our country!” Appearing at the GOP Midterm Convention in Dallas, Texas last week, Lorenzo Sewell, a black Detroit, Michigan pastor of the 180 Church, delivered a benediction which was well received. SEWELL: “I would like to preach a message entitled ‘Enough is enough.' How many know that we are saying today: ‘Not today, Satan'? “You will not steal our country. You will not have our children. You will not have our families. Enough is enough. I know I got somebody in this room that believes in the King of Glory, the One who is strong and mighty, the One who is mighty in battle.  He's got the only name given among men whereby we must be saved, and that's the name of Jesus. Come on now. If you believe in that name, put your hands together and give your great God great glory. “Devil, you won't have the land where my fathers died. Devil, you won't have the land of the Pilgrim's pride. From every mountainside, we believe that freedom will ring. If you believe where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Come on, Texas, put your hands together, and give our great God great glory. (applause) “Before I take my seat, let me just ask you one question: ‘Are you proud to be an American?' CROWD: “Yes!” SEWELL: “For at least I know that I'm free, and I thank God for the men and the women that died, that gave that right to me. And I'm gonna stand up and fight, fight, fight for the soul of a nation. If that's you, put your hands together and give your God great glory.” (applause) Psalm 96:8 says, "Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name.” While Lorenzo Sewell was in high school, his father went to prison for murder, and his younger brother was hit by a car and killed. That's when Sewell became heavily involved in drugs, drug dealing, and the gang life, ultimately becoming a gang leader. During his senior year of high school, while under the influence of drugs and alcohol in Daytona Beach, Florida, Sewell was kicked out of a resort. On his way out, the security guard told Sewell that he would pray for him. On April 18, 1999, Sewell attended his grandmother's church, and had a "Damascus Road" experience that turned his life around. No wonder, after his dramatic conversion, he chose to name his church the 180 Church. Rep. Brandon Gill: Mid-term election is mainstream vs. extreme Appearing at the GOP Midterm Convention in Dallas on September 10th, Republican Congressman Brandon Gill of Texas explained what is at stake in the upcoming November 3rd election. GILL: “This election is very clear. It's the mainstream versus the extreme, because there's another political movement in our country right now that doesn't believe that America is or ever was great. (audience boos) “They sometimes call themselves socialists. Some even call themselves communists. But most of them simply go by Democrats. They're the ones who will tell you that your love for America is nothing but bigotry, that our heritage is rooted in white supremacy, and that your Christian faith is patriarchal and needs to be dismantled.” Trump promised $5,000 'dividend' for Americans if GOP wins midterms President Donald Trump opened his remarks at the GOP Midterm Convention in Dallas with this comment. TRUMP: “The Democrats are getting nervous. They said, ‘If we did a midterm convention, nobody would show up.' This place is packed.” He made news for promising a financially irresponsible giveaway if Republicans retain the House and the Senate, reported CNBC News. Listen. TRUMP: “If the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, both of them, I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000. Very much like a successful company will do a cash distribution to its shareholders, or like last year when I gave our great members of the military $1,776.” If the Republicans retain the House and the Senate, and President Trump makes good on that promised Treasury giveaway, it would add a whopping $1.3 trillion directly to the national debt, which already sits at $40 trillion. Sen. Fetterman will switch parties post election if GOP lose Senate And finally, appearing on "The Journal Editorial Report" on Fox News, Democratic strategist and pollster Doug Schoen explained what needs to happen for the Democrats to win the U.S. Senate. SCHOEN: “If Trump stays below 40 [percent], and the election is a referendum on him, that will work to the Democrats' advantage because the Democrats need a ‘wave election' for them to win the Senate. If it isn't a ‘wave election,' I don't think they do.” There are six states where the race for the U.S. Senate is a toss-up including Alaska, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Ohio and Texas.  For Democrats to take back the Senate, they need to pick up four of those six senate seats. Paul Gigot, the Fox host, asked why Democrats are going after Democratic Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, a defender of Israel and who defended Trump at the Midterm Convention, reports RealClearPolitics.com. GIGOT:  “So, let's talk about Fetterman. Why are Democrats going after Fetterman?” SCHOEN: “Because they are scared of two things. One, Fetterman attacking them. Second, Fetterman leaving them. And the third, Fetterman represents a brand of politics that I support, which is moderate, Democratic incrementalism and strong support for Israel and a strong American foreign policy. That is now off the table for my party. The world of Bill Clinton and the Democratic Leadership Council is gone.” The Democratic Leadership Council was a centrist group that was active from 1985 to 2011. It argued that the United States Democratic Party should shift away from the leftward turn it had taken since the late 1960s. One of its main purposes was to win back white, middle-class voters with ideas that addressed their concerns. The Democratic Leadership Council hailed the election and re-election of Bill Clinton as proof of their worldview. GIGOT: “Are you saying that it is now impossible for somebody to be vocally pro-Israel in the Democratic Party in a prominent role?” SCHOEN: “In an unabashed way, I'm saying yes. Look at Chuck Schumer. He has been far more outspoken about change in Jerusalem than in Tehran.” Then, Paul Gigot asked about Fetterman's long-term prospect in the Democratic Party which elicited a fascinating response from Doug Schoen. GIGOT:  “Briefly, can Fetterman win a Democratic primary in 2028?” SCHOEN:  “No, he cannot. He knows that. Democrats know that. That's why I think him going to do that cameo at the convention is a “crossing the Rubicon” for him, meaning that even if the Democrats win by one seat, my prediction would be [Fetterman] changes parties.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, September 14th, in the year of our Lord 2026. “One believes in democracy and the rule of law, and right now, the other doesn't.” — Adam Jentleson Yesterday, William Hitchcock explained FDR's ability to build and maintain supermajorities. Today, Adam Jentleson — Harry Reid's former deputy chief of staff and chief of staff to John Fetterman — talks about how the Democrats can build lasting power in the 21st century. The strategy is laid out in Supermajority, Jentleson's follow-up to the acclaimed Kill Switch. Is the Democratic Party too woke? “We are still too rigid” is Jentleson's euphemistic take on the dramatic class flip in American politics. JFK won two-thirds of working-class voters in 1960, Jentleson reminds us, while Kamala Harris lost two-thirds in 2024. His prescription is FDR-style heterodoxy. Dems need to hold to their core commitments (healthcare, the safety net, progressive taxation, civil rights) while broadening their base in red states. His examples of tent wideners include a Kansan megachurch pastor, a pro-drilling Alaskan candidate, and an Iowan hopeful whose flat “no” on trans sports silenced a right-wing radio host. The model for winning back the working class, Jentleson argues, is Bernie Sanders circa 2016, an economic populist, but to Hillary Clinton's right on immigration and guns. The much maligned John Fetterman, Jentleson's old boss, is the cautionary tale. It's what happens, Jentleson warns, when the fighting “becomes the entire point” and a politician comes unmoored from principle. Jon Ossoff, Jentleson suggests, seems the anti-Fetterman in writing his own speeches and appearing authentic rather than opportunistic. Ossoff certainly isn't FDR, but he might be the best chance the Dems have of defeating an increasingly authoritarian Republican party in 2028. Five Takeaways •       The FDR Lessons Nobody Tells. Picking up where yesterday's Hitchcock episode left off: FDR built the New Deal supermajority not by bowling opponents over with progressive rhetoric but through a deeply heterodox coalition — including factions today's Democrats would expel — and sold it in conservative wrappers: Social Security pitched as fiscally responsible and earned, not given (he railed against the dole in cabinet meetings). The uncomfortable ledger: FDR actively worked against every civil rights bill of his era to keep self-declared white supremacists in the tent — which means, Jentleson argues, that today's trade-offs (a Kansas candidate with questions about trans sports, a border-security Democrat) “pale in comparison” to the compromises that built the twentieth century's Democratic dominance. The Kansas case in point: megachurch pastor Adam Hamilton, running in a state Trump won by twenty points, holds the line on healthcare, the safety net, and progressive taxes — and the alternative to his heterodoxy is a MAGA senator.•       Too Rigid, Not Too Woke. Asked the New Yorker's question — is the party still too woke? — Jentleson answers with his own euphemistic diagnosis: “we are still too rigid.” The evidence is the class flip: JFK won about two-thirds of working-class voters; Harris lost about two-thirds, while the college-educated — once the party of Romney, Rockefeller, and Eisenhower — became the Democratic base. And the sociology cuts deep: education correlates with ideological rigidity, while working-class voters hold heterodox mixes — the focus-group regular who wants the 2008 CEOs jailed and undocumented immigrants deported in the same breath. Hence the echo-chamber problem (Andrew's San Francisco testimony included): the decline of unions, parties, and Elks halls narrowed the aperture to funders and interest groups, and the Harris circle heard only itself. The fix costs nothing: choose diverse advisers, model good-faith disagreement — a preview of next week's Susan Neiman conversation — and collect what Jentleson calls the electoral windfall waiting for whichever party does it first.•       It's Working Right Now. To Andrew's two-state-solution objection — lovely in theory, impossible in practice — Jentleson answers from the November polls: Mary Peltola leading in Alaska (Trump +double digits) as a pro-drilling Democrat; James Talarico leading in Texas as a fossil-fuels-as-bridge Democrat; and Rob Sand in Iowa, whose flat “no” on a right-wing radio show — the host admitted he'd prepared follow-ups for the expected wriggle — took the wedge off the table and freed his anti-corruption message. As recently as 2009, he reminds us, Democrats held Senate seats in Arkansas, both Dakotas, Louisiana, and Montana. The forgotten exemplar: Bernie Sanders 2016 — economically populist but a 2007 immigration-bill no vote, “open borders is a Koch brothers proposal,” Lou Dobbs appearances, and gun rights to Hillary's right — the heterodox mix that produced his crossover appeal, against Clinton's across-the-board orthodoxy. Jentleson's 2028 read: the primary won't resolve for the left, and Ossoff, Cooper, and Peltola are the model — though he tips his hat to the DSA's weeknight commitment to Robert's Rules.•       The Fetterman Cautionary Tale. The hour's most personal stretch: Jentleson was John Fetterman's chief of staff, and his verdict on his old boss — who cameoed at Trump's convention this week — is that Fetterman shows what happens when the heterodox strategy is “taken too far”: the fighting “has become the entire point of his career,” unmoored from the principles that make divergence meaningful. On the Wall Street Journal's reporting — the children's hospital he refused to meet, the York police funerals he skipped — Jentleson wasn't a source (“if you're going to say something, you should say it on the record and put your name on it”) but confirms it “resonated with my experience.” His primary emotion: “sadness and regret… he's letting a tremendous number of people down, including the people of Pennsylvania, who are basically down a senator.” The lesson for the book's own thesis: heterodoxy is a powerful tool, and like all powerful tools it needs to stay rooted in why you entered politics at all — or it leads “to some dark places.”•       The Vision Thing. Why supermajority and not Madisonian faction? Because, Jentleson argues, this era has something genuinely new: “the first time in American history where we have one political party that is entirely aligned with a sympathy towards authoritarianism” — not flashes like McCarthy or Father Coughlin (yesterday's villain, returning), but a party whose convention this week featured Trump leading “a pledge to cheat in elections,” with no internal pushback. (FDR's court-packing, by contrast, was the exception proving the rule: the system brushed him back in 1938.) Hence the pull quote — and yet democracy-talk alone doesn't win: “Biden tried to run on soul of the nation… and it didn't work.” The closing agreement, via Andrew's wrapper argument: the New Deal and the Great Society were named visions; Clinton and Obama never articulated one. Jentleson's candidate: finish FDR's cradle-to-grave social insurance — wage insurance against AI's disruptions, everything earned rather than handed out, aimed at bank accounts and the pump rather than the soul of the nation. And his 2028 intrigue, on the record: Jon Ossoff — the anti-Fetterman — who writes his own speeches, wins Georgia repeatedly, and conditioned aid to Israel early enou...

Today's Headlines: The dumb (with a b) Republican convention kicked off in Dallas with John Fetterman appearing in a video praising Trump and calling Democrats extremists and socialists to no one's surprise. In semi-related news, Ken Paxton lost the endorsement of his own former top law enforcement official — a decorated Texas Ranger who blew the whistle on Paxton to the FBI in 2020 — to Democratic opponent James Talarico, because even the people who worked for him can't stand him. Moving on, Trump celebrated the AFD's German election win with "MGGA — Make Germany Great Again," actively cheering on the Nazi party with two more German regional elections coming in ten days. Trump also gave $45,000 cash gifts to Natalie Harp, communications director Margo Martin, and 26-year-old executive assistant Chamberlain Harris — nearly a third of each of their $150,000 salaries — plus $20,000 to Walt Nauta, all of which appears to violate federal law prohibiting supplementing government employees' salaries from outside sources. On the tech beat, an Anthropic researcher named Jacob Coxon quit his job and gave up significant equity because he believes his company and its competitors are building tools that could destroy humanity, while a colleague on Twitter put the odds at 10% that AI destroys humanity by 2030 — and separately, a human mathematician accused OpenAI of solving a century-old math proof only because they heard about his work through an Anthropic scientist, which would have given Anthropic the credit, so Sam Altman allegedly stole a math discovery, which tracks. Yesterday marked a year since Charlie Kirk was killed, Georgetown students held a lookalike contest in DC, and Turning Point USA was not amused. Senator John Fetterman made a surprise appearance in a video at the GOP's midterm convention to introduce Senator Dave McCormick. He promised to "work with President Trump" to increase steel production in Pennsylvania. The Sekulow team discusses Fetterman's growing isolation from the Democrat Party, the ongoing RNC midterm convention, the ACLJ's legal work – and much more.

Trump says he'll give every American $5,000 if Republicans retain the House and Senate. That's about $1.3 trillion, and the country is already $40 trillion in the hole. Is it a bribe? No — well, yes. Is it a political bribe? It's unconventional, but I have a hard time separating it from politicians promising government services and warning that those services will disappear if you vote for the other party. The more important point is that even if Republicans keep Congress, this ain't happening. There's no political will for it, and I highly doubt the votes exist.So why are we talking about it? Because Trump would rather have a conversation about whether a $1.3 trillion gift is feasible than talk about $4 gas, high diesel prices, inflation, or the state of the economy. Promising $5,000 reframes him as somebody who understands that people need cash. After a brief improvement in economic sentiment, things look dour again, and Trump now says the Iran war will end shortly after the midterms. Even through his rose-colored glasses that sometimes turn BS brown, he's admitting this won't be over before November.Politics Politics Politics is a reader-supported publication. New polling has Sherrod Brown in Ohio and James Talarico in Texas ahead by four or five points, while Lindsey Graham's sister leads by only two in South Carolina. I'd still bet on Ken Paxton over Talarico, but Talarico is moving toward the center. He says he opposes trans athletes competing where fairness and safety are at stake and would sign a law banning sex changes for minors. Not long ago, that would've been called an attack on trans children. Now a more liberal candidate is saying it because he believes the issue is an exhaust port on his Death Star. I'm ending this week more inclined toward My Blue Heaven than I was on Labor Day.The White House is also promising $500 rebates to roughly one million Obamacare customers in 30 states who were allegedly overcharged. That's separate from Trump's $5,000 promise, and neither announcement means money has reached anybody. This looks like an answer to Democrats' warnings about the expiration of Obamacare subsidies — one of the issues that drove the earlier government shutdown. Is it really going to happen? I have no idea. But it puts the administration where it wants to be: talking about what it'll do for voters who are hurting for money.Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has interrupted Republicans' effort to use a new congressional map in Missouri, clearing the way for the older map approved by the state Supreme Court. Republicans wanted one more House seat from the redraw, but election officials need usable instructions before ballots go out. The broader redistricting push was hot and heavy a few months ago, but it was also slapdash. That's the Trump administration: Somebody has an idea, everybody says it's great, they start doing it, and they figure out whether it's possible about halfway through.John Fetterman also appeared by recorded video at the Republican midterm convention to introduce fellow Pennsylvania senator Dave McCormick. Fetterman called himself a Democrat, praised McCormick, and discussed working with Trump to protect steel jobs. If you think that means he's switching parties, he poured cold water on it. He remains a proud Democrat and says he votes with the party 80 to 90 percent of the time. But imagine Democrats reach 50 Senate seats and Fetterman becomes vote 51. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Nigerian Muslims killed 51 percent more people in last quarter of 2025 The Christian persecution charity Open Doors published a report on Nigeria, Africa this month. It's ranked 7th on the charity's list of the world's most dangerous countries worldwide to be a Christian.  Islamic extremist groups drive much of the violence in the country which affects many Christians. Abductions linked to extremist violence rose to 3,415 incidents during the last quarter of 2025. That's up 153 percent from 2024. Plus, civilians who were murdered rose to 1,735, up 51 percent. Many of those martyrs were Christians.  The report noted, “After a period of relative stabilization, killings and abductions appear to be rising again, with sharp increases recorded in late 2025.” In Psalm 82:4 and 8, the psalmist prays, “Deliver the poor and needy; free them from the hand of the wicked. … Arise, O God, Judge the Earth; for You shall inherit all nations.” Conservative Global Methodists grew to 7,250 churches The Global Methodist Church held its General Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa last week. The theologically conservative denomination started in 2022 as churches left the mainline United Methodist Church.   Global Methodists had around 4,700 churches in 2024. Now, just one and a half years later, they've grown to 7,250 churches. Federal appeals court heard abortion drug arguments Here in the United States, a federal appeals court heard arguments in a case about abortion drugs yesterday. Under the Biden administration, the Food and Drug Administration made the abortion drug mifepristone more accessible through the mail. Previously, an in-person visit to a doctor was required. The state of Louisiana is now challenging these changes in court. Attorney Erin Hawley with Alliance Defending Freedom said, “It's high time the FDA be held accountable for the destruction it began causing under the Biden administration with this high-risk drug that is flowing illegally into states that protect life.” Democrat Sen. Fetterman praises Trump at GOP Convention  Republicans are holding their first-ever midterm convention this week. (You can watch the video here). The two-day event kicked off yesterday in Dallas, Texas. President Donald Trump attended the event, and was the keynote speaker, along with Vice President J.D. Vance, cabinet officials, and congressional candidates. Republicans hope to energize voters through the convention ahead of the midterm elections in November.   One surprise at the GOP Midterm Convention, which turned a lot of heads, was a video appearance by Democratic Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania who rejected the socialist rise of extreme candidates in his own party, praised Republican President Trump, and introduced his Republican colleague in the U.S. Senate from Pennsylvania, David McCormick. FETTERMAN: “A big room of Republicans in Dallas. Yes, I'm Senator John Fetterman, Pennsylvania. Yes, I'm a Democrat. Why am I here talking to you today? Because, well, I'm a common-sense Democrat. I'm always going to stand with America. “I'm always going to reject the extremes and socialism and that anti-American way of life. Dave McCormick is the kind of senator that gets the job done. And he's going to fight for Pennsylvania. “I'm proud to count him as my friend. Right back over my shoulder, that's the iconic U.S. steel mill. And that's exactly the kind of thing that will work together and will work with President Trump to fight and defend the steel way of life right here in the Steel Valley. “I have this opportunity to introduce this great American, a great senator. And yes, he's in a different party, but I'm proud to count him as my great friend. So, for everybody in Dallas, I'm here to introduce Dave McCormick.” Republican Senator David McCormick of Pennsylvania is not up for re-election until 2030. CNN pollster calls GOP Mid-term convention ill-conceived In related news, CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten provided polls on voter enthusiasm on the eve of the Republican midterm convention. Enten called the event "ill-conceived," saying the party's core voters "don't need to be convinced" to come out. Listen. ENTEN: “This idea is so ill-conceived and you can just see it by the fact that they're doing it when the football season is starting. Who does that? “When you look at the numbers, no, that is not the part of the party in which you actually need to motivate. You can see this here. Extremely motivated to vote in the midterm elections: Sixty percent of Democrats are extremely motivated to vote. Fifty-nine percent of that hard-core Trump base, MAGA Republicans, 59 percent. The same as the Dems." Enten pointed to a graphic showing that the least motivated voters in the mid-term election this November are the 41 percent of Republicans who do not identify with "Making America Great Again." ENTEN: “The ones who are not motivated to vote are the non-MAGA Republicans. The people who are far less likely to approve of Donald Trump. The people who think that Donald Trump's Republican Party probably this should be the end of it. That's where the problem is. “So, no, it is not, in fact, the hard-core Republican base that needs that motivation. It is other folks -- at this convention -- simply put, they won't be reaching because they'll probably be watching football like most Americans.” Diesel prices hit an all-time high Last Friday, U.S. diesel prices hit an all-time high  The average nationwide price reached $5.85 per gallon. It was $3.76 per gallon back in February. That's when the U.S.-Iran conflict began, disrupting the oil supply. Diesel is used in most freight transport in America. Higher transport costs will likely translate into higher retail prices especially for groceries.  New York homeschooling up 200% since 2011 Homeschooling is up 200 percent in New York over the past 15 years. The Empire State now has 53,905 homeschoolers. New York City itself has 14,000 homeschooled children. Homeschooling is not only growing, it's outpacing the rate of charter school enrollment.  Zilvinas Silenas, president of the Empire Center for Public Policy think tank, told The New York Post, “For the past few decades, New York's schools have been in a death spiral of worsening performance and exploding costs. New York's taxpayers spend $37,000 — the most in the world to educate one kid — yet we lose in reading and mathematics to Mississippi, the poorest state.”  Adults admit to spending too much time on smartphones And finally, a new Pew Research survey found over half of U.S. adults say they spend too much time on their smartphones. Among adults under 30, 70 percent said their phone usage is excessive. Overall, a quarter of Americans admit they use their smartphone almost constantly.  Over the past 12 months, 45 percent of adults have tried to cut back on smartphone use.
