Bruce Arena named the US national team roster for massive Hexagonal matches, and the guys have trouble finding fault with the group. Let's just say it hasn't always been that way in the last few years. Still, Arena has a decision to make: Where and when does he deploy his best resources considering Trinidad & Tobago is a must-win and Azteca is a dragon the Americans have yet to slay? Plus, the US U-20s head to the World Cup Round of 16 and Octavio Zambrano and Canada prepare for the Gold Cup. We're almost three months into the 2017 season, and it's time to take stock of the best and brightest in MLS. Yes, that means 2017 MLS All-Star Fan XI presented by Target voting is open. Cast your ballot via the MLS app while you listen to the guys reveal their own choices. Some picks are obvious, but others get the guys heated. Everybody is happy, though, about Mauro Diaz's return, Julian Gressel's outstanding rookie season and the LA Galaxy's flip-flopping form. Plus, what's wrong with the Timbers? In the mailbag, Doyle tackles whether Kaka and the diamond are working in Orlando, and the Rapids Rabbi offers his take on a thus-far disappointing season in Colorado. Want to be a part of the show? Are you watching the games or just looking at the stats? David's catchphrase is taking off! The guys are definitely talking about (and watching) the games, starting with Friday night lights in Toronto where the best player in the league – Alberth Elis, duh ;) – is hoping to put on a show against the upstart Dynamo. Yes, that'd be Sebastian Giovinco, who Atlanta United captain Michael Parkhurst gives the nod as MLS's best. Who else does Parkhurst hating matching up against? What's life like with an expansion team firing on all cylinders on and off the field? Just how cushy is that new training complex? You won't want to miss this all-encompassing interview from ATL. There are plenty more juicy MLS storylines to talk about, too. The guys start with Dax McCarty's return to Red Bull Arena, celebrate Mauro Diaz's cameo on the training field and Portland's proposed stadium expansion, wonder what's up in Columbus as Gregg Berhalter and Kekuta Manneh go back and forth in the media and finally call the LA Times Kevin Baxter to diagnose what ails the Galaxy. As always, the Hot-Take Hotline is chock full of gems, starting with a jingle from none other than Alexi Lalas. There are more jingles where that came from, a Joe Bendik-to-USMNT flame job, LA Galaxy gritching and some insight into Dax's return from Bill Carroll in Section 132. Want to be a part of the show? After months of buildup, we’re almost there. Decision Day looms, and the guys are busy trying to figure out the best way to watch 10 games at once without missing any action. In the Western Conference, three playoff spots are up for grabs, and the biggest game on the docket seems to be Seattle hosting Real Salt Lake with one of the two guaranteed a spot – and perhaps both in the field should other results go their way. Yura Movsisyan calls in to discuss the mounting pressure, his permanent MLS move and the evolution of the league and RSL. Then it’s Supporters’ Shield talk and mourning for Mauro Diaz. Out East, the field is basically set, but seeding remains in flux. It matters where you finish. Like, a lot, according to Andrew’s research. Will Toronto FC or New York City FC skip the Knockout Round? Can D.C. United get a game at RFK? Will Didier Drogba be extra jacked to prove himself after Joey Saputo put out last weekend’s fire in Montreal? What about Philly? Are they destined for a quick exit, or might Jim Curtin put a charge in his troops? In the mailbag, Darlington Nagbe’s USMNT future is in flux, a listener wonders what MLS matchup an international-audience would find most intriguing, plus someone floats a Kei Kamara-to-Seattle trade that Matt doesn’t see happening.

Whoa. Just whoa. If you thought Week 33 and the Final Push to the Playoffs packed a punch, what will Decision Day be like? With the Armchair Analyst in New York City, the guys get in the same room for banter, breakdowns and some serious analysis of Sunday’s MLS doubleheader. Starting in the Western Conference, FC Dallas grabbed control of the Supporters’ Shield race … but may have lost Mauro Diaz for months and Kellyn Acosta for the playoff run. The magical unicorn’s apparent Achilles injury breaks Andrew’s heart, but perhaps Carlos Ruiz and his timeless goal magic can fuel an MLS Cup run in Big D. Seattle, meanwhile, wasted another opportunity to clinch a playoff spot, meaning there are three up for grabs among four teams with Portland and Kansas City controlling their own fates. Can Colorado pip Dallas to the Shield? It’d be a fitting bow on the Rapids’ best regular season ever. In the Eastern Conference, Drogba-gate dominates the headlines. Long story short, Didier Drogba decided coming off the bench wasn’t for him, so the Impact went out and nabbed a point sans superstar via a hard-fought draw with archrivals Toronto FC, led by Sebastian Giovinco (the Atomic Ant is back!) and Jozy Altidore. Elsewhere, the Red Bulls locked up the top seed, but gave their fanbase more late heart palpitations, Philly backed into the Knockout Round, D.C. United are playing the best soccer in MLS, and New York City FC are still the most schizophrenic team in North America. Don’t tune out before the mailbag, in which Doyle explains the origins of the Octagon, Michael Bradley’s TFC future gets a harder look, the guys explain the repercussions ofSunday’s Expansion Priority Draft, MLS affiliates book their places in USL Cup and Steve Jobs … no, Bob Bradley … nearly leads Swansea City to a massive road win in his first EPL match.

First of all, I want to apologize for the sound quality of the non-interview segments of the show. Recording myself alone takes place in a much different way and I had no co-host this week. I didn't realize that the quality was off until after the entire first segment had been completed. But, I cleaned it up as best I could and although it isn't the usual quality, it's better than it was. So there's that. OK, with that out of the way, it's time for Episode 55 of the PawedCast, in which I fly solo to take you through Orlando City's two matches this week, recapping both and giving you my takes, as well as my Man of the Match selections. I also recapped Orlando Pride's Sunday loss to Portland and OCB's win at FC Montreal. Joining me to preview Orlando City's upcoming Fourth of July match at FC Dallas is Ben Lyon from Big D Soccer. Ben was good enough to drop by and give us the scoop on all things Dallas, including how to stop Mauro Diaz. He also has a key match-up for the game and a match prediction which I didn't like. OK, then I give you my key match-up and score prediction for the upcoming trip to Dallas. Should be a fun one. I promise that I'll try not to fly solo again and if I'm forced to, I'll at least find a cleaner way to record.  Here's how the show unfolded: 0:00- Audio disclaimer! 0:48- OK, let's get right into Toronto FC, the controversial penalty call, the stunning last gasp loss to Ft. Lauderdale, the Pride, OCB, and more! 21:58- Ben Lyon jumps on to make sense of FC Dallas and what we can expect on Monday night from the home team. 50:32- The key match-up and score prediction for Orlando City at Dallas. Filibuster is back, and Ben, Jason, and Adam are joined by a very special guest: Sebastian Salazar from Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic! We start off by talking about the Gold Cup, even though we recorded before last night's 1-1 draw between the United States and Panama. We talk about what's wrong with the USMNT, ask whether or not they are sandbagging like the USWNT, and talk about Michael Bradley as a number 10. We also ponder whether or not there is a chance Perry Kitchen gets called in to replace Kyle Beckerman. Since Sebastian is here, we then had to ask him about Mexico. We let him explain what's wrong with the Mexico national team and ask whether there is anyone in their current pool who could help D.C. United. We finish with D.C. United against FC Dallas this weekend. We talk about whether or not United can shut down Mauro Diaz, how they can deal with Fabian Castillo, and ask where the creativity will come from since Fabian Espindola is suspended. We wrap up by flinging praise and Andrew Dykstra and Steve Birnbaum. Give it a listen!

Then stick around for a chat with D.C. United midfielder Perry Kitchen, who has a big event off the field this week, is fielding interest from Europe and has a US national team career to think about. Oh, and what's he think about all this "luck" talk when it comes to D.C. United and their first-place position? In the second segment, MLS Week 11 takes center stage. Viernes de Futbol is huge this week. Can NYCFC finally rebound? Can the Red Bulls slow down Fabian Castillo, Mauro Diaz and FC Dallas? Saturday is just as good, with a Cascadia battle pitting Vancouver and Seattle and New England hoping to heap more misery on Toronto FC. The guys also welcome friend of the show Brian Sciaretta on to talk Gedion Zelalem and all the moving and shaking from Americans in Europe. In the mailbag, the "Farby" debate heads in a new direction, listeners pull the homer card and Simon is confronted by his alter egos: Dr. Simon and Mr. Borg.

The derby talk rolls on as the guys discuss the historic RBNY vs. NYCFC match that gave Simon goose bumps on Sunday night. In the other “Soccer Sunday” matchup, Toronto FC fell flat once again in a big moment on their home field. Toronto Sun beat writer Kurt Larson checks in from north of the border to narrow down what’s wrong and how to remedy things before the playoffs slip from sight. In the second segment, there’s a glut of big weekend results to pore over, including Mauro Diaz’s shining performance in Dallas’ victory against LA and Crew SC knocking off last years “Supporters' Shield” winners. The biggest goal of the weekend, though,  may have come via the head of Orlando City’s center back Aurelien Collin. He talks to the guys about what needs to change for Orlando, his new role with the Lions and the differences between fans and ambitions in Orlando and Kansas City. In the mailbag, the age-old question draws discussion: what is your favorite “Farby” in MLS? You know, a “farby,” a rivalry between two clubs far apart! The gang is back together. It’s perfect timing, too, after a loaded weekend of MLS action. The cream has begun to rise in the East, as Andrew is forced to look for a new word to describe D.C. United besides lucky. Plus, what ails NYCFC, does Seattle have the best forward line in MLS, and where does FC Dallas stand now with Mauro Diaz’s return to form? In the second segment, the focus is on a different type of football. Former FC Dallas goalkeeper and first round MLS SuperDraft pick Josh Lambo checks in as he prepares for training camp with the San Diego Chargers. He tells the story of his transition from soccer to potential NFL kicker, and shatters Dave’s dreams in the process. A special guest joins the guys in the mailbag as Nick Rosano joins the group to discuss MLS’s rules announcement, the Timbers scoring woes, and just how wrong Simon is about cell phones on planes.
