The boys sat down to recap the match against Toronto FC in the six up in Canada. Austin FC was able to put up 3 goals, but unfortunately also conceded 3 to see this game end in a draw, where both teams took a point. B says it was a great point, while H isn't too happy about dropping the win in the final minutes. What do you think? The boys also went over the USOC defeat to Louisville and how things are gonna look for the club moving forward… Is Nico going to survive this season, or will he be let go? To finish off, the boys had a mini debate about whether the Rodos era has been “better” than Reynas and when Austin FC fans had the most fun supporting the team in club history.

For the Glory KC is back with the 176th episode of the show!Sporting Kansas City had what was potentially the lowest moment on the field in club history. At the very least, in recent memory. So, a week after talking about expectations, Sheena and I are trying to align on the state of the team. Fans are rightfully upset with the performances of the week, particularly the showing in the US Open Cup against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks.Fans are calling for Raphel Wicky's job, David Lee's job, Peter Mallouk to (already) sell the team, and for the release or purge of almost every player on the roster. What is rational and what is irrational? We try to break it all down.Plus, we weave through the moments in the USOC game as well as the loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps on Friday night. We knew this season would start slow and have some lows, but I'm not sure anyone thought it would be quite this low. We also talk about quite the remarkable stat when it comes to losing and SKC in recent seasons and where it sits in history. Outside of the events on the field, there were also a couple notable moments off the field. Cavan Sullivan was apparently inquired about by Lee and Alan Pulido is out at Chivas. The KC Current lifted up the week with their Teal Rising Cup win last weekend over Palmeiras, but that feels like an eternity ago. We briefly relive that game, and I talk about Haley Hopkins ascent up the roster and perhaps into the starting lineup in an NWSL game.In the Digital Crawl, we hit on a few more topics, including:World Cup Fan Fest Lineup, Parking and BusesUSWNT resultsNWSL calendar flip -- Fall to Spring?Javier Mascherano out in MiamiHere is a rundown of sections and start times:Intro & World Cup Trophy - 0:00Sporting KC - 6:30KC Current - 1:08:08Digital Crawl - 1:14:04Upcoming GamesKC Current @ Washington Spirit, FRI, April 24th at 7:00PM CSTSporting KC @ Chicago Fire, SAT, April 25th at 7:30PMSKC II vs. Houston Dynamo 2, SUN, April 26th at 7:00PMAs a special gift to For the Glory KC listeners and KC Soccer Journal readers, Backheeled.com is giving away 30 days of their amazing, independent American soccer coverage for free. The 92 Report

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 17, 2025 44:50

Rana Dershowitz went straight to Harvard Law School after graduating in 1992, partly due to the economy and her love for learning. She describes her experience at Harvard Law School, including her role as a law school "old timer" in Cambridge. After law school, Rana moved back to New York and started working on Wall Street, initially hating the big law environment but appreciating the people she worked with. Entertainment Law at Madison Square Garden and onto Sports Law Rana discusses her career counselor's advice to explore sports law, which she had overlooked despite her involvement in sports and technical theater at Harvard. She took a six-month leave of absence and was offered a job in sports law the day she started her leave. Rana worked in entertainment law at Madison Square Garden (MSG) from 2001 to 2007, handling legal work for the Knicks, Rangers, and the WNBA's New York Liberty. She met her future husband during this time and moved to Colorado  in 2007, where she continued her legal career. Joining the US Olympic Committee and Life in Colorado  Rana joined the US Olympic Committee (USOC) as Deputy General Counsel in 2007, becoming interim General Counsel and then General Counsel and Head of Government Affairs. She describes the challenges of commuting between Colorado Springs and Denver, with her husband working in Bould, while managing her job and family life. Rana and her husband moved to Basalt, Colorado, in 2011, where she continued her legal work,  joined the Aspen skiing company, and became involved in the Aspen community. She transitioned to a part-time role at Aspen Skiing Company while working as Phil Weiser's policy director for his gubernatorial campaign. Challenges and Opportunities at the US Olympic Committee  Rana explains the unique structure of the USOC, which is federally chartered and subject to congressional oversight, unlike most Olympic committees. She discusses the complexities of funding and intellectual property rights, including the USOC's unique trademark rights. Rana highlights her work on safe sport initiatives and the challenges of managing independent national governing bodies for various sports. She reflects on the legal and operational complexities of hosting Olympic Games in the United States and the international dynamics involved. Working at Madison Square Garden and New York Liberty Rana shares a story that reflects her personal connection to Madison Square Garden. She describes the structure of MSG, which owns the building, the Knicks, the Rangers, and the Liberty, and her role in handling sponsorships and league rules. Rana recounts her involvement in the New York Liberty's WNBA finals run in 1999, feeling proud to be part of the team's success. She also discusses her role in managing entertainment acts during team sports events at MSG and shares a few of her proudest moments. Policy Work and Campaign for Phil Weiser  Rana explains her role as Phil Weiser's policy director, focusing on active listening and building a grassroots campaign across Colorado. She outlines key issues the campaign is addressing, including affordability, climate change, water resources, and public lands. Rana emphasizes the importance of bridging urban-rural divides and finding innovative solutions that benefit the entire state. She highlights the campaign's efforts to address youth mental health and promote outdoor activities for children. Rana's Broader Role at Aspen Skiing Company  Rana discusses her expanded role at Aspen Skiing Company, overseeing sustainability, community engagement, planning and development, and PR. She describes her transition to leading mountain operations and her current role that spans looking into employee housing and childcare. Rana reflects on the importance of understanding systems and structures beyond legal work, drawing on her experiences at Aspen.  Harvard Reflections Rana shares her initial reluctance to follow in her family's legal footsteps but eventually being drawn to law by her interest in the "Justice" class. She credits the course for shifting her perspective and leading her to law school. She also mentions auditing the "Thinking about Thinking" class taught by Stephen Jay Gould, Robert Nozick, and Alan Dershowitz, and reflects on the importance of considering different perspectives in policy work and legal decision-making. In this week's episode, we're re-airing one of our top episodes with Stacy Sims, MSC, PhD, a forward-thinking international exercise physiologist and nutrition scientist who aims to revolutionize exercise nutrition and performance for women. Have you ever wondered why one week you feel like you're crushing it in the gym, and the next you just don't have the energy? Newsflash: women are NOT small men. Our hormones fluctuate throughout the month, which has subtle (and sometimes obvious) impacts on every area of our lives—including exercise. In this episode you'll learn: * Exercise myths that need to be busted* If women really need to cycle sync their workouts* What women need to know about cold therapy* How to know if you're eating enough* Why creatine isn't just for gym bros* And more…Dr. Stacy has directed research programs at Stanford, AUT University, and the University of Waikato, focusing on female athlete health and performance and pushing the dogma to improve research on all women. She has published over 70 peer-reviewed papers, several books and is a regularly featured speaker at professional and academic conferences, including those by USOC and USA Cycling. With the unique opportunities, Silicon Valley has to offer, during her tenure at Stanford, she had the opportunity to translate earlier research into consumer products and a science-based layperson's book, Roar, written to explain sex differences in training and nutrition across the lifespan. Both the consumer products and the book challenged the existing dogma for women in exercise, nutrition, and health. This paradigm shift is the focus of her famous "Women Are Not Small Men” TEDx talk. This episode is brought to you by beeya: * Learn more about beeya's seed cycling bundle at https://beeyawellness.com/free to find out how to tackle hormonal imbalances. * Get $10 off your order by using promo code BEHINDHEREMPIRE10Follow Yasmin: * Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yasminknouri/* Stay updated & subscribe to our newsletter: https://www.behindherempire.com/Follow Dr. Stacy: * Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drstacysims/* Website: https://www.drstacysims.com/ Hosted on Acast. The 3A girls semifinals take center stage on the SDH Network tonight as we'll have both matches available with radio calls starting at 6pm. Whitewater hosts back-to-back state champions Oconee County in Fayetteville while Jefferson hosts Cherokee Bluff. Go to soccerdownhere.net and click Listen, then select your match or bounce back and forth.Welcome in for another edition of the Morning Espresso from the SDH Network, brought to you by Oglethorpe University, Atlanta's premier undergraduate learning experience and soccer powerhouse.PSG has made their second Champions League final, defeating Arsenal 3-1 on aggregate, 2-1 yesterday in Paris. Luis Enrique has been the best manager in the world this season and he has remade this team in his image and achieved incredible success. They have to go through the 3-time champions Inter to lift the trophy, and remarkably, it's the first time these teams have ever met in official competition. The goalkeepers have been stars in the semifinals. Yann Sommer made a couple of mind-blowing saves on Lamine Yamal of Barcelona, Gianluigi Donnarumma turned into Superman as soon as he saw the English flag again and also stood on his head to lead PSG. I disagree with Mikel Arteta when he says that Arsenal were the better team in the competition, but I do think he's getting unfairly dragged in the media. He took a team without a healthy #9 as far as he could this season. They have to get that position right to compete with the best in England and in Europe. He's one of the best managers in the world today, give him the right squad to truly give him a chance to win a major trophy, I don't think he's had that yet and has done as much as he could.MLS won 15 of the 16 Round of 32 matches in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup over the past two days. The Pittsburgh Riverhounds needed a stoppage time goal to upset NYCFC to keep it from being a clean sweep. Philadelphia needed penalties to get past Indy Eleven, multiple games needed extra time, Austin was 2-0 down at home to El Paso but stormed back to win 3-2. Good news on the business front for MLS as well, their sponsorship revenues are up double digits in 2025 compared to the same timeframe in 2024. 5 clubs were named in Sportico's Most Valuable Soccer Clubs in the World's Top 20, with 19 clubs making the Top 50, the most of any league in the world. While revenues aren't matching the top European clubs at the moment, security of the format along with top-notch infrastructure and ownership collaboration and cooperation have given MLS clubs a strong floor from which to grow their valuations. Arsene Wenger made the news yesterday, saying that his proposed change to the offside rule is imminent. Based on the way these rules have been altered in the past, that's not true. The trials of the new rule (essentially going from if any part of the body is offside then it's an infraction to if any part of the body is onside then it's good, giving the attacker a body length) have not been successful and more are needed to see if this gives the attack too much of an advantage. I do believe that the rule needs to be tweaked in light of video replay being used, but more testing is needed rather than something rash. Plenty more in the video and podcast editions of the Espresso, please check them out. More to come tomorrow morning on the SDH Network.
