One of the quietest off-seasons in club history is over as the Orlando Pride prepare to open their 2026 NWSL season on Sunday. It's been so quiet, we've had our maximum off-season schedule time off over the last couple of months, but we hope you're still out there and ready for more SkoPurp Soccer talk.We begin this episode with some rare preseason news, as the Pride actually released some details about their final scrimmage ahead of league play. Orlando posted a 2-1 win over Fort Lauderdale United, and we even know who scored the goals! Additionally, McKinley Crone is back with Orlando after being on loan with last weekend's host team, so the Pride have plenty of goalkeepers once more. After the preseason news, we were happy to welcome Orlando Pride Vice President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Caitlin Carducci to the show for the first time. We talked Carducci up about the Pride's quiet off-season, the vacancy left behind by Emily Sams, the players who have impressed in camp, her approach to a large number of players who will either be out of contract or require a decision on an option year at season's end, and much more. Big thanks to the Pride's new GM for taking time out of her busy schedule to put up with our questions. Our mailbagbox is curious about which players could slip themselves into the team's top three goal scorers in 2026. Remember, you can ask us anything by hitting us up on Twitter at either @TheManeLand or @SkoPurpSoccer and using the hashtag #AskSkoPurp. You can use that same hashtag and hit @TheManeLand.bsky.social up on Bluesky. Or you can visit our show page, scroll down, and fill out the handy form. We'd also appreciate any ratings or reviews you can leave wherever you get your podcasts, and if you do that on Apple Podcasts, we'll find them easily and read them on the show. Finally, we looked ahead to Sunday's match against the Seattle Reign. For Seattle, it will be the club's third consecutive competitive match against Orlando, but they won't see the Pride again until Decision Day. We discuss some of the Reign's key players, the series history, our key matchups, and our score predictions for the season opener. We're in our off-season schedule now, so we'll be back at least monthly, and as often as news requires. If you'd like to support our independent writing and podcasting efforts, we'd love to have you as a subscriber or donor over at our Buy Me a Coffee site. Here's how Episode 114 went down:0:15 – Pride preseason news! We have some! Just in time for the regular season.8:25 - Caitlin Carducci jumps on with us and spends about 20 minutes answering a variety of questions about the club.32:00 - Our mailbagbox is short and sweet, and then we jump into our preview of Orlando vs. Seattle.

In today's episode, LDG previews the Gotham FC 2026 NWSL season alongside Cloud 9 members Nat and Marge!Over the course of today's conversation, Nat, Marge and I talk about Gotham's incredible championship run and break down everything that's happened since the final whistle in San Jose and the NYC victory parade.First off, we'll look back at the rollercoaster ride that was last season, from making the playoffs on the goal differential tiebreaker to knocking off shield-winners KC Current and reigning champions Orlando Pride en route to winning the NWSL Championship against Washington. Then we'll react to the Jaedyn Shaw signing and what it means immediately for Gotham and what it could mean in the future.Next up, we dig into Gotham's offseason, talking about expectations and hopes we had going into the offseason, and what surprises occurred. We looked at the signings of NWSL veteran Sav McCaskill, rookies like Andrea Kitahata and Jordynn Dudley, as well as the importance of Midge Purce staying with the team and the re-signings of Kayla Duran and Katie Stengel. With every offseason, players also depart the club, and we talked about how those players' departures impact the club, specifically touching upon Ella Stevens and Josefine Hasbo moving to expansion side Boston Legacy, Gabi Portilho to San Diego Wave FC, and Stella Nyamekye to Brann. We then look ahead to the future and play a fun game, determining which three players whose contracts will expire beyond the 2026 season we would want the club to re-sign, with stars like Ann-Katrin Berger, Rose Lavelle, Jess Carter, and more included. To wrap up the episode, we bring back our classic 5-4-3-2-1 format as a series of quick questions that provide us with some predictions and wishes as we head into the new season.Thank you for listening! We're back with our first show of the 2026 calendar year and there's a lot to talk about. We start things off with the bad news: Emily Sams has played her last game with the Orlando Pride (barring some wacky future return). The Pride traded Sams — at her request — to Angel City, and even though the club got a pile of intraleague transfer funds in return, it just doesn't feel like enough. We discuss the disarray now prevalent in the center back position group with the Sams departure and Kylie Nadaner's pregnancy. We also discussed two new arrivals who can play center back even though they should probably stick to fullback. The Pride brought in Hailie Mace and Hannah Anderson to help on the back line. Both are versatile, but neither is Sams at center back. Our mailbagbox is a short one this time out, as we're asked if more Pride players will depart or arrive between now and the start of the season. After our mailbagbox, we spend slightly less time discussing Grace Chanda's departure than Chanda spent on the pitch for the Pride. That's a little bit of an exaggeration, but not as much of one as you'd think. Finally, we discussed the big news: Orlando has found a new vice president of soccer operations and general manager to replace Haley Carter. Stepping into the role is former Kansas City Current GM Caitlin Carducci, who brings a wealth of experience in various disciplines to Orlando in much the same way Carter did. If it also makes the Current weaker, it's twice as good of a hire as it appears to be on the surface. We're in our off-season schedule now, so we'll be back at least monthly, and as often as news requires. If you'd like to support our independent writing and podcasting efforts, we'd love to have you as a subscriber or donor over at our Buy Me a Coffee site. Here's how Episode 112 went down:0:15 – Sams is gone, as we start the show on a down note for the second consecutive episode.19:41 - Our mailbagbox seems nervous about players leaving.28:05 - Grace Chanda departs but the Pride have a new GM, so perhaps a replacement on the roster won't be far away.

For the Glory KC is back with the 156th episode of the show! The headline for Kansas City soccer this week is the World Cup! The FIFA World Cup draw went down last Friday with games announced on Saturday. Kansas City get six games in the 2026 World Cup, and the first four matchups are now known:1st: Argentina vs. Algeria on June 16th at 8PM 2nd: Ecuador vs Curacao, June 20th at 7PM3rd: Tunisia vs. Netherlands, June 25th at 6PM4th: Algeria vs. Austria, June 27th at 9PMKC also host a July 3rd round of 32 game and a July 11th quarterfinal, that could feature Messi vs. Ronaldo. If Argentina and Portugal win their groups and their first two knockout games then the biggest game in the world (before the final) will be in Kansas City. That's all assuming Messi even plays. And that they are both healthy. It's a long-shot, but it could happen! The United States Men's National team also found out their group, and it's quite winnable. They start off against Paraguay and also play Australia and the winner of the UEFA playoff between Turkiye, Slovakia, Romania and Kosovo. The USMNT could even play in Kansas City if everything falls the right way, but part of that is them ending up third in their group, which would be a disappointment. Sporting Kansas City are still top of mind with a few big moments this week. First, Kerry Zavagnin officially parted ways with the club after 26 years. Sheena and I give our thoughts and then we share the rumor of two potential replacement coaching candidates. Raphael Wicky, who is a rumored finalist, is who we know the most about after this time with the Chicago Fire.In other Sporting KC news, they have a rumored goalkeeper trade. It'll be the team's fourth keeper if Stefan Cleveland officially arrives from Austin FC. He's never been a long-term starter, but at 31-years-old he can push John Pulskamp and share what he's learned behind some of the best keepers in the league while playing for the Seattle Sounders and Austin FC.In KC Current news, the team signed new two-year contracts with Mary Long and Katie Scott, officially said goodbye to goalkeeper Laurel Ivory and saw their former star defender, Hailie Mace, sign with the Orlando Pride. They also had a less than stellar showing in the World Sevens Football competition over the weekend. In the Digital Crawl, we hit on a few more topics, including:Trinity Rodman possible leaving the NWSLMLS Cup between Inter Miami and the Vancouver WhitecapsKS Astras win their MASLW openerFormer Swope Park Rangers coach, Marc dos Santos, gets a big upgradeHere is a rundown of topics and start times:World Cup and Kansas City - Sporting KC Coaching Update - SKC Round-Up including a rumored trade - KC Current World Sevens and more - She Scores - Digital Crawl - Upcoming GameKS Astras vs. Iowa Raptors, Sat. [Note: This episode was recorded Monday night, prior to the Pride signing Hailie Mace on Tuesday.]The Orlando Pride are coming off back-to-back NWSL semifinal appearances, and much of the credit for that just walked out the door. Haley Carter is leaving her post as the club's vice president of soccer operations and sporting director to pursue other opportunities. It was not welcome news, as Carter has done well to help install the right kind of culture with the Pride — one that shows the utmost respect for the players and protects them from the kind of things that have given the NWSL a few black eyes over the years. Her legacy is turning Orlando into a place players want to play and turning a perennial doormat into one of the better clubs in the league, both on and off the pitch. After our discussion about Carter's departure, we discussed Emily Sams playing for the USWNT in her club's home stadium and her thoughts on Carter's departure. Our mailbagbox basically just wants to dunk on the Washington Spirit for this episode, but at least Washington got to the final game. That said, it probably hurts worse to lose a final than a semifinal, so...yeah. We'd also appreciate any ratings or reviews you can leave wherever you get your podcasts, and if you do that on Apple Podcasts, we'll find them easily and read them on the show. After our mailbagbox, we went through the Pride's end-of-season contract status update. Orlando has 23 players under contract for 2026 (24 with Tuesday's signing of Hailie Mace), and we tell you who is and isn't on the squad at the moment. There weren't a ton of surprises, but we will miss Carson Pickett's golazos and Simone Charley's fire. We're in our off-season schedule now, so we'll be back at least monthly, and as often as news requires. If you'd like to support our independent writing and podcasting efforts, we'd love to have you as a subscriber or donor over at our Buy Me a Coffee site. Here's how Episode 111 went down:0:15 – Haley Carter built a thing and then let it go, because if you love something, you set it free. [Note: This episode was recorded Monday night, prior to the news late afternoon that Haley Carter is leaving the Pride's front office to pursue other opportunities. We will, rest assured, address that news on our next show.]The Orlando Pride just couldn't score. The team played well against Gotham FC, particularly on the defensive end and in the middle of the pitch, but the team's inability to find a goal — coupled with a late set piece goal conceded off an iffy foul call just outside the area — ended Orlando's bid to repeat as NWSL champions. The game could have gone either way, but it went the wrong way. We break down the heartbreaking loss, check on our score predictions, and make our selections for Player of the Match (we split the vote this time). The Pride may also be on the move in terms of training location. We briefly discussed the club's intentions to put everyone at the same facility at Osceola Heritage Park, which would be a boost in the facilities arms race for Orlando. Our mailbagbox wants to know if the NWSL will follow MLS in changing to a fall-to-spring schedule, if the Pride's attendance will keep going up, if Marta should become a super sub, and more.
