After surviving the Portland Timbers, surely an energized Galaxy side would be able to handle a lower division Sacramento Republic side. Not so fast. In fact, really slow and plodding. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Christian Miles discuss the many ways the Galaxy failed to meet the intensity of a US Open Cup game that was played just about as perfectly as you could have hoped by USL side Sacramento Republic. What did Greg Vanney see on the night, and why are several players who may have just played themselves out of playing time down the stretch? And what did the loss reveal about the Galaxy's summer needs? Will they be going for a Central Attacking Midfielder (CAM)? And should you be worried about them finding the right piece? Also, Josh and Christian will talk about the postponed Cali-Clasico and the likely reason the Galaxy aren't headed to a different stadium to play this weekend. And surprise... it's about MONEY. We've got a packed show of reaction, analysis, and criticism of a team that doesn't have all the pieces they need and why they should be tired of waiting for other pieces to come around. Let's get you more than 60 minutes of Galaxy-talk. It all starts right now on show no. 950!

We're focusing this show on the one thing going well for Sporting KC so far this year. This team has tons of history with the US Open Cup, and in spite of terrible MLS play this season, somehow SKC is just three wins from another trophy. The Union Omaha Soccer Club, playing in USL League One - the third tier of American soccer - have beaten two MLS clubs to reach this point. But the club has done very well with fan engagement and carving out a place in their community. The Who Gives A Hoot podcast is dedicated to the club and USL news so we invited them to come on the show with us. Luke Opperman joined to give us some insight into this little team from Nebraska and how they've made it this far. Omaha fans are very likely also Sporting KC supporters as well, and Luke tells us that makes this matchup even more fun. But that also means the fans have been watching SKC and know just how bad things are looking for Peter Vermes' side. The fans & the players are sure to come into this one with tons of confidence. The last word from the team is that they're expecting over 700 away fans to make the trip to Kansas City. Might we have the beginnings of another 'friendliest rivalry in sports'? The night started with such promise. So many possibilities danced in the air: The ability to move to the final 8 of the U.S. Open Cup. The potential of playing a USL team in that round. The chance to dispatch our rival in another elimination match. And, most importantly, a second chance, a second bite at the cherry, as Max Bretos would say, to shake King Kong off our backs and finally, finally beat Carson in Carson. Nope. Nope to all of it. From the first whistle, LAFC played second fiddle to the Galaxy. They were more physical. They were more clinical. They were more desperate to earn a result. And they were just better, up and down the pitch, than the Black and Gold were for all 100 minutes of this Open Cup tilt. LAFC would go down 3-0, all scored in the second half, before we would muster a response with 5 minutes to play. A Ryan Hollingshead header would be a small band-aid on a gaping wound, and LAFC was bounced from the Open Cup, 3-1. What's worse is that Carlos Vela came off with a quad injury and Chiqui Palacios, our most impactful player in 2022, had to be helped straight to the locker room after a scary foul by Chicharito saw him land on his head and neck during an aerial challenge. We hope Diego is OK.Also on this episode, Scarf makes an obscure WWF reference, Filly breaks out his thesaurus, and the boys discuss the potential of life without Carlos. This is a tough one, Defenders, but, as always, we are here to go through it with you!

Welcome back to another episode of the Max + Vince Podcast. It's another busy week for LAFC as the month of May comes to a close. First though, we've got a great guest again this week. LAFC assistant coach Marc Dos Santos joins us in the second segment. It's Marc's second stint with LAFC. Max and Vince ask what it was like coming back to the Club. Marc shares the conversations he had with Steve Cherundolo and how their projects perfectly aligned. Marc also gives us some insight into how the coaching staff works together on a daily basis and how there are no egos in the staff. Max and Vince also get a chance to ask Marc about Canada in the upcoming World Cup and we get an expert's breakdown of the Champions League final. That's all in the second segment. Before that, Max and Vince break down the win over the Crew and talk about Steve's tactical master plan for the match. Then it's time to talk about the big US Open Cup match at the Galaxy. Will LAFC capitalize on its second chance in Carson? How do the two sides look heading into the match? And what's going to turn the tie? Max and Vince answer all those questions and preview the San Jose match coming up this weekend before LAFC catches a much-needed break. Hear it all on the Max + Vince Podcast and don't forget to subscribe, rate, review, and tell a friend.

First, it was Dallas who hung three goals on the Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park. And on Sunday, it was Houston's turn to take the Galaxy for three goals. So what's the problem? Hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter have a long free-flowing discussion about the Galaxy's struggles against Houston and why it doesn't seem to matter the lineup. The Galaxy have a chance creating problem that only appears to be solved with Victory Vazquez on the field. And then they have a finishing problem as well. The guys want to dive into the rotated lineup and why Dejan Joveljic was one of the better players on the field for LA. And why Efrain Alvarez is causing all sorts of issues for Greg Vanney. Plus, why does Vanney think there should be a dedicated defensive midfielder. And why he thinks creation will come from Mark Delgado if he gets that. Did Delgado do that in Toronto? But does all this go away if the Galaxy can advance in the US Open Cup past LAFC on Wednesday night? And while LAFC are coming off a win in Columbus, they haven't exactly been setting the world on fire in their last three games either. We've got an extra-long show to get you ready for another El Trafico and discuss the Galaxy's problems that aren't going away anytime soon.
