Adam and Zach talk about a frustrating habit that certain bartenders and drinks professionals have of policing drink names and insisting on a strict adherence to traditional definitions and recipes. If calling a drink a Margarita, a Martini, or a Negroni makes it easier for the drinker to know what to expect, that's a good thing! Early DJ Support from: Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, Laurent Garnier, Beckers, Eelke Kleijn, Cid Inc, Soulwerk, Praveen Achary, Lonya For their second release of 2017, Flow Vinyl head to Australia and the talents of Rich Curtis. Based in Brisbane and with a growing international reputation, Rich is another outstanding recruit to the Flow family, and his production credentials will be further enhanced by these two new tracks, both of which are destined for some serious dancefloor action. Rich Curtis likes to make his tracks bold and dramatic, and ‘That’s My Drink’ is exactly that with rock solid beats, thrilling melodies, distorted spoken word samples, and atmospheric effects to build the tension. This track oozes charm with a nod to classic progressive house, while still packing a mighty punch. ‘None of This Is Real’, meanwhile, is almost understated to start with, but underpinned by a pulsating undercurrent, before it explodes with bursts of fiery synths and percussion, and splashes of acid. In his typical style, Rich then brings the track down beautifully. Followers of Flow will be familiar with the work of André Sobota from São Paulo who provides the remix of ‘That’s My Drink’, and he ramps up the pressure with a driving house version, full of swirling synths and funked- up beats. Next stop Uruguay and Javier Misa who is at the controls for a reworking of ‘None of This Is Real’. If the original is a track for the night, this version has more of a sunset vibe with spaced out synths and a seductive groove. All four tracks twist and turn in different directions to create a dynamic package for a diverse array of dancefloors.
