Does anybody really care? Well, we turned the clocks forward an hour and with it comes the annual debate about whether Daylight Savings time is a good idea or not. With both sides of the argument pulling their annual selective amnesia about the event. March also marks the start of The NCAA College Basketball Tournament which brings both great joy and a great distraction to Lewis. From what? Well, take your pick – could be GOP's wild response to the State of the Union, Missouri finally realizing it's 2024, the ongoing Middle East conflict or even silly things like one a man's obsession with Big Macs. It's a veritable smorgasbord of stories one wants to avoid. RANT #1 - Justin is a teacher and he has an issue with phone in class policies. RANT #2 - Michael Cohen is surprised when A-1 steak sauce was founded. RANT #3 - John LeShock is pissed people cannot pronounce words correctly. RANT #4 - Dr AJ is an ER doctor and has seen some things. RANT #5 - Vickie Gabow wilkes barre should fix potholes. RANT #6 - Jennifer Braun has had it with Ohio Drivers. ___________________ For advertising opportunities email: rantcast@thesyn.com ___________________ TOUR DATES: http://www.lewisblack.com/tickets GET MERCH: http://www.lewisblack.com/collections ____________________ SUBMIT RANTS TO LEWIS Have something you want to get off your chest? http://www.lewisblack.com/live _____________________ SUBSCRIBE TO THE RANTCAST http://www.lewisblacksrantcast.com ____________________ FOLLOW LEWIS https://www.lewisblack.com https://www.instagram.com/thelewisblack https://twitter.com/thelewisblack https://www.facebook.com/thelewisblack https://www.youtube.com/OfficialLewisBlack Learn more about your ad choices. An unforgettable Tournament headlines the final week of March, with lots to dissect and digest as the sports world is primed for a big month ahead. On deck: (3:01) In a time where most pundits, personalities, etc. are prisoners of the moment, I can honestly say, this has to rank as one of the best, if not the best, NCAA College Basketball Tournament of all time. It has reached levels that we couldn't imagine or dream of with plenty of upsets, controversy, comebacks, you name it. All four #1 seeds didn't make the Elite Eight (first time that's happened) Three schools reaching the Final Four (i.e. Florida Atlantic, Miami and San Diego State) for the very first time. UCONN who's been on this stage before, but their first visit since 2014. I'll recap all of the Madness throughout the past four days and set the stage with some early headlines as I have a wild and crazy recap of what took place. (28:11) As for the pros, the Dallas Mavericks are in a free fall out West. They've collapsed to the point where they are out of the conference play-in scenario amid getting beat back to back games by the lowly Charlotte Hornets. The discontent of the head coach, Jason Kidd. Their star player, Luka Doncic frustrated, not only with what's going on the court but in his personal life as well. And Kyrie Irving going after the fans? It's a mess down in Big D. Could they salvage this bad stretch and make it into the 7-10 seed tournament? LeBron James is back after a 13 game absence with a foot injury as they met the Bulls in LA. Patrick Beverley is up to his old tricks, but can the Lakers survive these final two weeks and make it into the postseason? Then there are the Nets (remember them?) as they battle to stay in the top six teams out East. They've been and will be without Ben Simmons (remember him?) as he's dealing with a back issue. Can they hang on and avoid being a part of an early playoff play-in? (41:10) On the ice, things have been heating up with the divisional and wild card races in the NHL. I'll update the latest as we're less than ten games away from the conclusion of the season. ( 44:51) Some big news has come down the pike over the last hour as Lamar Jackson has requested a trade to the Baltimore Ravens. Why has it come to this? Where can he go? I'll answer all of that and mention some other notable signings over the past few days. (53:20) Baseball fans, get ready! The season is just three days away. If you're a Yankee fan, I'm sure you're not happy as another starting pitcher (i.e. Luis Severino) will be on the IL to start the season, making him the 3rd starter who'll be on the shelf as they break camp. The Phillies have lost their longtime first baseman, Rhys Hoskins to an ACL injury. Why his absence won't impact their lineup as much as you think? I'll also take a peek at the over/under win totals throughout the sport as I'll select three overs and three unders on the next podcast, with a full preview of the upcoming season that you won't want to miss. This episode of Alum-Less features special guest Dori Sonntag, Associate Vice President for Organizational Effectiveness in University Advancement from Gonzaga University. With the NCAA College Basketball Tournament almost upon us, we explore alumni engagement around athletics. The men's and women's basketball program at Gonzaga are both perennial favorites to make the tournament. We'll discuss with Dori how they've developed a playbook for March Madness that gets refined each year. We've got a packed show with these topics and more.
This week, the Kansas Jayhawks defeated the North Carolina Tarheels to win the NCAA College Basketball Tournament, a terrific game that featured the largest comeback in NCAA Tournament title game history. This year's March Madness tournament was also the most heavily wagered in its history, with as many as 17% of Americans betting a total of more than $3 billion on this single event alone. That comes on the heels of the Super Bowl back in February, which saw more than $7.6 billion in wagers placed on that game. Sports gambling is now legal in more than 30 states and the District of Columbia, doubling in just a year, and the rise of sports betting apps has made it easier than ever to place a wager. How should Christians respond to sports gambling, and is it OK for Christians to gamble on anything at all? Joining the Rundown to talk about the rise in sports gambling and the Christian response to it, as well as a contentious hearing on Capitol Hill this week with Big Oil CEOs on price gouging at the pump, is CBN News Reporter Brody Carter.
Mid-March is known for just one sporting event: the NCAA College Basketball Tournament. But The Sports Extra Podcast can never focus on just one thing at a time, so this week's episode features some hot topic debates. Is Mitch Trubisky good enough to start for the Pittsburgh Steelers or will Mason Rudolph win the starting job? Is the NFL becoming another byproduct of the NBA and the Super Team phenomenon? Is Shiner crazy for thinking the Sixers will end up in the Eastern Conference Finals? Plus, how overrated is pie? You can head to https://www.abc27.com/podcast for extended interviews. Please subscribe to our podcast wherever you listen, and let us know your thoughts on the show! See you every Thursday.
