Rich Morgan graduated from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998, completed his residency at NYU Rusk Medical Center in 2002, and had everything a decade of medical school and training was supposed to produce — until a common dental procedure exposed him to opioids and changed the direction of everything he had spent his career building. In this episode of Locked In with Ian Bick, he shares what the ten year opioid addiction that followed that dental procedure actually looked like, what writing fraudulent prescriptions to pharmacies to fuel his addiction and eventually selling prescriptions to drug dealers actually involved, what getting caught after a customer cooperated with the government actually felt like, and what being sentenced to 168 months in federal prison as a doctor — and navigating the federal system as a Jewish inmate — actually required of him before he was finally ready to rebuild what the addiction and the federal system had taken. _____________________________________________ #doctor #prison #truecrimestories _____________________________________________ Thank you to HIMS & FACTOR for sponsoring this episode: Hims: Visit https://hims.com/lockedin to get a personalized, affordable plan that gets you. _____________________________________________ Factor: Head to https://factormeals.com/lockedin50off and use code lockedin50off to get 50 percent off and 1 free breakfast item per box for 1 year, while supplies last until! _____________________________________________ Connect with Rich Morgan: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/richmorgan8761/?hl=en LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/richard-morgan-b45366143 _____________________________________________ Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://www.instagram.com/ian_bick/?hl=en https://ianbick.com/ _____________________________________________ Timestamps: 00:00 Introducing Rich Morgan 00:16 Growing Up on Long Island 01:04 Parents and Early Life 01:51 Dreaming of Medicine 02:17 The Incident That Inspired Him 03:33 Fascination with Fixing 04:33 Medical Shows and College 05:31 College and Med School 06:18 What is a DO? 08:46 DO vs MD Schooling 09:57 The Growing Prevalence of DOs 11:05 Salary and Residency 12:15 The First Pill 14:09 The Spiral Begins 15:12 The First Pill Experience 17:19 Dentists and Overprescription 19:30 Writing Himself Prescriptions 21:39 Life at the Height of Addiction 23:12 9/11 and Its Impact 26:10 Sponsor Break: Weight Loss by HIMS 27:33 No Oversight in Hospitals 28:56 Pharmaceutical Wild West 31:16 Self-Image and Dope Sickness 33:16 Patients and Slipping Up 38:53 The Deal with a Dangerous Patient 40:49 Arrest and the Fallout 44:00 Sponsor Break: Factor Meals 46:01 Released on Bail 49:01 Sentenced to 14 Years 52:32 Why No Manslaughter Charge? 56:56 The Real Reason for Selling 58:05 Wife's Reaction and Family Drama 01:01:50 Comparing Sentences: Jared Fogle 01:02:39 Meeting Mobsters in Prison 01:04:33 Father's Support 01:06:06 First Stop: Transfer to Prison 01:07:40 Life at Morgantown 01:12:44 Pedophiles in Prison 01:16:51 Respect as the Doctor 01:20:05 Medical Care in Prison 01:23:24 Jewish Power in the Federal System 01:27:00 Power of the Jewish Community 01:28:25 Money and Influence Behind the Scenes 01:31:03 Taking Advantage of Religious Rights 01:33:52 Smuggling and Prison Life 01:37:08 What Happened to His Medical License 01:43:13 A New Career at His Med School 01:48:49 A Bad First Date 01:51:15 Inmate Dating and Visiting Lists 01:56:40 Final Thoughts and Thanks _____________________________________________ To advertise on the show, contact sales@advertisecast.com or visit https://advertising.libsyn.com/LockedInWithIanBicka

Real Estate Investor Dad Podcast ( Investing / Investment in Canada )
Ethical Off-Market Real Estate Deals: Helping Sellers Without Taking Advantage Off-market real estate investing has a reputation problem. Too often, investors are taught to search for desperate homeowners, exploit difficult circumstances and negotiate the lowest possible price. In this episode, Wayne and Gabby explain why that approach is not only unethical—it is also unnecessary. This is Part 2 of their series on sourcing great off-market deals, but the focus goes beyond flyers, direct mail, bandit signs and websites. The bigger conversation is about how investors should conduct themselves when dealing with motivated sellers. Wayne explains the important difference between a desperate seller and a motivated seller. A motivated seller may need speed, certainty, flexibility or a creative solution. That does not mean an investor should use the situation to strip as much value away from them as possible. A good off-market deal should solve a real problem. The seller should receive the outcome they need, while the investor creates value through knowledge, creativity, market expertise and the ability to see opportunities others may overlook. Wayne and Gabby also discuss the uncomfortable reality that when an investor purchases a property below market value, the seller is receiving less. That makes integrity, transparency and self-awareness especially important. The goal should be to create wealth without manipulating people or building a business at someone else's expense. The episode also covers scalable lead-generation methods, including flyers, direct mail, bandit signs and websites, while examining the type of sellers those strategies attract and the responsibility investors have when those calls come in.

In this special episode of MSP 1337, CJ is joined by Brooke Lee (Rev.io) and Stacey Whitley (GTIA) to unpack how ITSPs can translate industry engagement into measurable outcomes. Attending events is easy, but most organizations struggle to turn what they learn into real operational outcomes. Brooke and Stacey share how their collaborative event recap initiative is helping bridge that gap by distilling key takeaways from major channel events into practical, accessible insights. More importantly, they highlight how GTIA serves as the connective tissue that sustains momentum beyond the event, enabling peer accountability, ongoing education, and real community engagement. The discussion reinforces the business value of GTIA membership beyond networking. From structured onboarding and mentorship to role-based education and vendor-neutral collaboration, GTIA provides a scalable approach to developing teams, reducing isolation, and accelerating organizational maturity. Brooke's perspective on embedding GTIA into Rev.io's onboarding model illustrates how intentional engagement can drive adoption and long-term ROI. Cybersecurity is a central theme, with a focus on GTIA's Cybersecurity Resource Hub, ISAO, and the GTIA Cybersecurity Trustmark Best Practices. Stacey emphasizes the importance of community-driven intelligence and real-time peer support, particularly during incidents, capabilities that many ITSPs struggle to access independently. The episode closes with a candid look at how authentic, experience-driven content, rather than polished production, builds trust, strengthens relationships, and lowers barriers to participation across the channel.Bottom line: GTIA is more than membership, it is more than a community, and as an association, it is greater than the sum of its parts. GTIA is a force multiplier for learning, accountability, and cybersecurity maturity when actively leveraged.

And if it can, what does that mean for the people who've built careers doing exactly that?In this episode, Al sits down with Satya Krishnaswamy, Director at IBM, to explore IBM's Db2 Genius Hub — a bold step toward autonomous database management powered by AI agents. Satya breaks down what it actually means for a database to run itself, how IBM is thinking about the levels of AI autonomy, and where the human still needs to stay in the loop. They get into the real questions: How many AI agents does it take to manage a modern database? Tucker and I think that's exactly backwards. In this episode we break down how small operators like us actually have an edge right now, and why playing the same game as the big publicly traded builders is a trap you want to avoid. We get into the real stuff — why investors are bailing on vacation rentals in California and Florida, how new state wealth taxes are quietly shifting where people want to live, and how to spot development opportunities in your zip code before the rest of the market catches on.
