This is a special edition of the New York Institute for the Humanities' Vault podcast. On October 10, 2025, NYU's Journalism Institute hosted a day-long conference titled Podcast Intellectuals: Producing Original Scholarship with Audio. Over the course of three panels, scholars, podcasters, and journalists discuss how academics might employ the techniques of narrative audio as part of their research. In this second panel of the day, Ellen Horne moderates a conversation with Chenjerai Kumanyika, Barry Lam, and Julia Barton, three veterans who have made a specialty of working on creative, idea-informed series. Professor Ellen Horne directs the Podcasting and Audio Reportage concentration at NYU's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. She was the executive producer and editor of Admissible: Shreds of Evidence, and was host, reporter, and producer for Luminary's Lies We Tell. Horne was the executive producer of WNYC's Radiolab, where she won George Foster Peabody Awards, Third Coast Awards, and the Kavli Science Journalism Award. Her new documentary, Age of Audio, tells the story of the podcast from birth to boom to today. NYU Professor Chenjerai Kumanyika specializes in using narrative non-fiction audio journalism to critique the ideology of American historical myths about issues such as race, the Civil War, and policing. His podcast Empire City was chosen by the New York Times as one of the best podcasts of 2024. He was the co-creator, co-executive producer and co-host of Uncivil, a podcast on the Civil War, and he is the collaborator for Scene on Radio's Season 2 “Seeing White,” and Season 4 on the history of American democracy. Professor Barry Lam earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Princeton, taught at Vassar, and recently moved to UC Riverside. He is the host and executive producer of Hi-Phi Nation, a story-driven podcast about philosophy, at Slate magazine. He is also an Associate Director of the Marc Sanders Foundation, which promotes excellence in philosophy and public philosophy. Julia Barton is an award-winning podcast, audiobook, and radio editor. She was the executive editor of Pushkin Industries, where she helped develop Revisionist History and Against the Rules. She's the editor of Malcolm Gladwell's audiobook The Bomber Mafia, Michael Specter's Fauci, and Michael Lewis's unabridged Liar's Poker and companion podcast. One of the things I talk about a lot on this show is how much writing we discover we have to do when we start our businesses. Nobody warns you about this. You get excited about your thing — your coaching, your expertise, your offer — and then you realize that getting people to know you exist requires words. Everywhere. All the time. And most of us, when that hits, immediately decide we're not writers. That's exactly why I wanted to bring Terri Trespicio on the show.Terri is someone I spotted from across a room before I ever officially met her — days before the pandemic, at a Luminary event in New York City — and I was instantly obsessed. If you don't know Terri yet, she's the author of Unfollow Your Passion, her TEDx Talk has been viewed over 8 million times, and she is one of the most compelling, funny, and genuinely wise people I know when it comes to helping people find and use their voice. Years of persistence (and a few missed Instagram DMs) later, we're actual friends. And this conversation did not disappoint. Here's what I want you to really hear before you press play: the reason you think you can't write? It's not the truth. It's conditioning. And Terri explains it in a way that I think is going to genuinely change how you see yourself. We got into why writing feels so hard for so many of us, and why it has almost nothing to do with whether you're "a writer." We talked about the inner critic, what's really going on when you stare at a blank page, and the sneaky ways we try to outsource the one thing we actually can't. We also got into AI, templates, and what it really means to show up consistently for your audience in a way that actually sounds like you.If you've been avoiding the blank page or struggling to find your voice in your business, this one is going to feel like a deep exhale.Listen to this episode to find out:What's really behind your resistance to writing (it's not what you think)Why outsourcing your writing might be costing you more than it's saving youThe mindset shift that makes content creation feel less like a grindWhat Terri means when she says creativity is weather — not lightningHow to use AI without losing your voice in the processWhy templates might actually be working against you
On this episode of The Tudor Dixon Podcast, Tudor Dixon sits down with Dave Asprey, the founder of Bulletproof Coffee and widely known as the father of the biohacking movement, to explore how everyday people can take control of their health, energy, and longevity. Now, he’s on a mission to help others optimize their bodies and minds through biohacking—using science, nutrition, and environmental changes to improve energy, mental clarity, and long-term health. Tudor and Dave discuss: What biohacking actually means and why it’s now a $36 billion industry Simple daily habits that can boost energy, focus, and brain health The truth about coffee, mold, and morning routines Why many people may be overmedicated instead of optimizing their biology Nutrition myths, including controversial takes on kale, protein, and diet trends The growing science behind longevity and cognitive performance Dave also explains how listeners can learn more at the upcoming Beyond Biohacking Conference, where thousands gather to explore cutting-edge health technologies, longevity science, and performance optimization.
What if gratitude isn't the highest state available to you? In this live talk recorded inside the Inner Light Collective, Brenda Winkle explores the subtle but powerful difference between gratitude and appreciation — and why appreciation creates faster emotional shifts for high-capacity leaders. You'll learn: Why high achievers try to “jump the emotional staircase” The science behind emotional vibrational states How appreciation widens your field instantly Why nervous system narrowing blocks abundance A practical practice you can implement today (with alarms!) In this powerful live talk recorded inside The Inner Light Collective's Luminary group, this conversation blends nervous system science, emotional regulation, and energetic leadership. This is one of the most foundational tools I teach my private clients and members: In this episode, we explore: Why abundance is about widening your field, not forcing outcomes What happens when your nervous system narrows your vision The real reason high achievers struggle to “just feel better” How to move up the emotional scale one band at a time Why appreciation works faster than gratitude How scaffolding (alarms, reminders, rituals) supports identity shifts What it means to be the CEO of your energy This conversation is especially powerful if: You're in an identity shift You feel activated, pressured, or narrow in your thinking You're building something meaningful and don't want to lose yourself You want steady leadership instead of performance pressure If this resonates, come join us inside The Spiritual CEO — a grounded space for empaths, creatives, and visionary leaders who are building real things without abandoning themselves. https://www.skool.com/thespiritualceo/about You can join the group for free to get a feel for the vibe of the community and then upgrade to the paid version to attend the calls and have access to the recordings. Meanwhile, he (Srila Bhaktisiddhanta) had given attention to this printing process, with which he printed pamphlets, newsletters and books. He advocated for a mansion of books. He advocated for millions of pamphlets and articles and newsletters to go out. In fact, he had several newsletters that would go out on a regular basis, daily. He had been questioned once by a reporter who was amazed that he could print a newsletter every day. "Have any of you ever done a newsletter?" "Come on, somebody say yes." "Did you do it daily?" I did one for maybe fourteen years, and I did it twice a week, and Śraddhā Devī helped me, and she can attest to the fact that a lot of times I'd sleep some days because I was trying to finish the newsletter and get it sent to her before the deadline. But he did several newsletters that were going out every day. And the reporter, being incredulous at this, said, "How do you have so much news?" And Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākur said, "Well, newspapers in the mundane world come out every day. There's much more news coming from the spiritual world than there is from this mundane world where the news isn't really new. It's the same thing." In fact, somebody said last night something that resonated: "If you want to find out something new, look at an old book." Whereas the spiritual world is ever fresh. Kṛṣṇa's pastimes are unlimited. His names are unlimited. Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākur advocated for the mass distribution of literature so that people who are under the grip of māyā could be liberated by this literary intervention, which is advocated for by Caitanya Mahāprabhu Himself, who said to Sanātana Gosvāmī even before the printing press was even conceived: māyā-mugdha jīvera nāhi svataḥ kṛṣṇa-jñāna jīvere kṛpāya kailā kṛṣṇa veda-purāṇa (Cc. Madhya 20.122) That in order for a soul to be wrested from the grips of māyā, he or she needs a literary intervention given by Śrīla Vyāsadeva. That was part of the yukta-vairāgya. But he also saw that people around the world needed to be introduced to Kṛṣṇa consciousness—but not just a culture—the actual philosophy of Kṛṣṇa consciousness that can be adopted by anyone in any place in the world. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

In this episode of The Digital Executive, host Brian Thomas welcomes Jack Griffin, CEO of Light Up Ventures and bestselling author of Luminary. As a certified executive coach with experience supporting leaders at Google, Meta, Amazon, and Yahoo, Jack specializes in helping tech executives strengthen their leadership through compelling storytelling, systems thinking, and personal development.Jack shares the defining moment that inspired Light Up Ventures: witnessing a senior leader lose an entire audience due to uninspired communication. That experience sparked his mission to “illuminate” leaders and address what he sees as a global crisis in communication—one that costs organizations over $1.2 trillion annually in lost productivity, turnover, and customer churn.Throughout the conversation, Jack breaks down what separates top-tier leaders from the rest. He highlights the power of systems thinking, referencing Peter Senge's The Fifth Discipline, and the importance of blending informative and inspirational communication. Using vivid metaphors—like mastering a wood-burning fire near his home in Lake Tahoe—Jack explains how great leaders recognize their role within a larger system and communicate in ways that spark clarity and connection. He also discusses why storytelling is an essential executive skill, especially in today's world where leaders are inundated with emails, texts, and constant digital noise. Story structure, narrative arcs, and memorable delivery help messages break through the clutter and truly resonate. Jack emphasizes that storytelling is both content (“the story”) and delivery (“the telling”), with nonverbal communication often carrying more weight than words.Drawing on experiences in more than 40 countries—including a decade of youth leadership work in Haiti—Jack reflects on the global perspectives that shape his coaching today. Above all, he believes humility is the defining trait of leaders people genuinely want to follow. Whether in boardrooms or in communities with limited resources, he has seen firsthand how gratitude, humility, and servant leadership build trust and human connection. If you liked what you heard today, please leave us a review - Apple or Spotify.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

It's about who knows you. Not who you know. But who knows you and trusts you enough to open the right doors for you.” - Julie Solomon “ You have got to get clear on what it is that you want to be known for. So before you can get into the right rooms, you need to know what you want people to say about you when you're not in the room. What you want them to know, to believe, to feel, what's your signature message? What's your unique genius? And if you're not clear on what that is, you are going to consistently struggle to stand out. Your message will continue to get lost.” - Julie Solomon RESOURCES: [SCALE WITH CONFIDENCE] If you're ready to elevate your authority and expand your visibility, Luminary is for you!
