(20:38) We're down to the final ten days of the NBA season. There's not much to talk about in the East. Out West is intriguing. I'll check the landscape and provide an update as to where we stand with the current playoff seedings. I'll touch on Ja Morant's latest incident, this time on the court and what could possibly come out of that? Anthony Davis's breakout game vs. Atlanta. The aftermath of the brawl between the Pistons-Timberwolves, with official ownership to one time MLB player Alex Rodriguez. And the Hall of Fame calls on Carmelo Anthony. (35:02) The NHL season will be completed two weeks from today. How will it play out in both Wild Card races? Who will rule the Atlantic? There seems to be no World Series hangover in LA as the Dodgers are 154 wins for perfection. Same for the Padres as well. Quite frankly, there isn't too much to write home about. Oh! If you're not watching Celtics City on MAX, I suggest you start doing so. (44:21) Are the defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers the team to beat in the playoffs over Washington, Toronto and the like in the Eastern Conference? I'll share why that may be the case, plus, Alex Ovechkin adds another goal to get that much closer to Wayne Gretzky's record. (And a possible retirement for the Great 8! Stay with me! I'll explain.) Sidney Crosby takes down a Gretzky record himself over the past few days. (Could Ovechkin or Crosby be on the NHL's Mt. Rushmore?) A classy gesture by the Capitals towards goaltender Marc Andre Fleury. I'll see where we are in the division and wild card playoff races as we're less than three weeks from the conclusion of the season. (57:48) We're just four days into the MLB campaign. We have the Dodgers and Yankees on a pace to go 162-0, with the latter using bats that have caused a stir. The Marlins lead the NL East with three walk off wins, no less. Jimmy Butler will visit Miami for the first time since he was traded last month tomorrow night. How will the response be from the fans? Also Steph Curry is looking to get back on the court as he could possibly play vs. the Heat. The Celtics were sold for over six billion dollars last week. I have a message for the new owner Bill Chisholm. And the Cavaliers snap a four game winning streak as they have a hold of the top spot in the East. I'll break down the latest in the playoff standings to see who's hot and who's not. Also, my thoughts on the upcoming Celtics City episode on MAX tonight. (49:20) Alexander Ovechkin is now seven goals away (with twelve games to play) from surpassing Wayne Gretzky all time on the goal scoring list. Is time starting to run out for the Capitals captain? Do I smell another tanking? I'll explain. Plus, remembering Sonics legend, Slick Watts who passed away at 73. I'll discuss the log jam out West and the lackluster East as we're less than a month away from the end of the season. (49:45) On the ice, all is quiet in the NHL. Alex Ovechkin is eight goals from topping Wayne Gretzky overall in the history of the league. How he can thwart any pressure over the last 15 games to secure his place before the regular season concludes? There are a couple of big time wild card races in each conference as I'll dissect the latest playoff seeds with a little more than a bakers dozen games to go. (56:38) Baseball begins tomorrow! Don't worry, I'll explain it all over the next hour plus as the latest podcast is here! On deck: (6:42) I open up the podcast with several apologies for my performance on the most recent episode. (I'll get into it throughout the course of this pod.) There was an NBA MVP battle between SGA & Nikola Jokic. Does Jokic deserve the award, even after losing to SGA yesterday? Who is the front runner at the moment. Also, the comparisons of this race to the NFL with Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Is there any concern for LeBron James and the Lakers as he suffered a groin injury late in their loss to the Celtics on Saturday night? He'll be out a week or two for rest and recovery. I'll also talk about the Knicks Jalen Brunson, the signing of PJ Tucker, comments from former owner of the Mavericks Mark Cuban about the Luka Doncic deal, a mention of the MAX docu-series on the Celtics and Stephen A. Smith being confronted by LeBron James about his critique of his son. The final topic being a lightning rod, even for someone like myself, where having a platform like this comes a responsibility to uphold. You won't want to miss those comments, plus all that's happening in the Association. (36:49) Has Auburn jeopardized their top seed in the country after losing to Alabama at home 93-91? Could this be a stretch where they could falter entering into the Tournament? (41:42) The NHL experienced a wild trade deadline on Friday where players were being shipped left and right, most notably, the Bruins fire sale sending Brad Marchand to Florida. And Mikko Rantanen was sent packing again to Dallas for a boatload of picks. I'll break down all of the major trades, including the Islanders Brock Nelson as teams jockey for playoff positioning down the stretch. Alex Ovechkin in now single digits (nine away) from surpassing Wayne Gretzky. Will the pressure consume him? Or will it be business as usual for the Capitals great? I'll peek as to what's going on in the sport with the latest postseason races in each conference. (57:02) There were some record setting signings and a huge trade and signing by my beloved football team. The Steelers acquired DK Metcalf from the Seahawks for a 2nd round pick, but then paid the talented wideout a five year, $150M dollar deal in the process. The bigger question is, who's the quarterback? Not Aaron Rodgers has been now rumored. I'll share who I want as QB as the Steelers go all in on procuring a WR. I'll dissect the deals inked by Josh Allen, Myles Garrett, Davante Adams (the first two were records in the league) as you'll get a complete assessment of that and look ahead to free agency, which begins on Wednesday. (1:06:51) Baseball is technically eight days away (in Tokyo with the Dodgers vs. Cubs) but we're two and a half weeks away from the season beginning. There have been plenty of injuries that have taken place throughout MLB. The Yankees are holding their collective breaths for the second spring in a row surrounding Gerrit Cole. Is Tommy John likely after he left a start with elbow discomfort? The Orioles have to hold out their young starter, Grayson Rodriguez with the same issue. The Mets have to put catcher Francisco Alvarez on the shelf for 6-8 weeks with a broken hamate bone. Vladimir Guerrero Jr's final offer to the Blue Jays was below $600 million dollars. How many years was he looking for? Is that too much? And the Athletics keep spending to have their nucleus in tact, extending OF Lawrence Butler to a six year deal. (1:12:45) Alex Pereira loses his fifth defense of his light heavyweight title to Magomed Ankalaev by unanimous decision on Saturday night. Is a rematch in order? (42:23) The NHL trade deadline is tomorrow at 3pm. There hasn't been much activity when it comes to transactions. I have one team that NEEDS to make a move if they want to make a run in the playoffs. I'll see where we're at when it comes the latest in the playoff picture as things heat up on the ice. (54:25) MLB fans! Three weeks from today, another season arrives. I'll check on what else is going on throughout the Association (and props to Diana Taurasi, who's retiring after a 20 year career in the WNBA) as we're down to the final third of the season. (25:26) As for what's going on in college basketball, you had #4 ranked Florida upset by Georgia after coming back from a 26 point deficit. Is this a bad loss for the Gators? And Kansas has fallen out of the Top 25, which is a surprise, considering they were the preseason favorite #1 team in the nation. (31:01) On the ice, Alex Ovechkin continues his assault on Wayne Gretzky's goal scoring record as he's 12 away from breaking it. The Rangers suffer a key loss on defense. How much will that hurt their playoff chances? And I'm appalled that the second rematch of last year's Stanley Cup Final isn't being broadcast at all as the Oilers try to snap their losing streak in Florida against the Panthers. There's some sad news as I'll pay respect to broadcaster Al Trautwig, who died at the age of 68. (45:08) Have you heard about how much the Dodgers are dishing out in deferred money? And for how long? Ha! I'll be more than happy to share that as I don't want to hear about Bobby Bonilla Day anymore as long as I'm alive. Shohei Ohtani will make his spring debut tomorrow vs. his former team in the Angels. Will he pitch? Guardians patriarch and former owner, Lawrence Dolan, dies at 94. It's time to dissect the Wild Card races in both the East and West. And with the trade deadline just ten days away, it should be a busy week as teams will look for reinforcements as we get to the final third of the season. (28:19) On the hardwood, you have to be heavily concerned about the NY Knicks. They not only lost, but they were destroyed out of the All-Star Break losing big to Cleveland and Boston on the road. Are they missing a certain ingredient? Are they title worthy? Things aren't looking up in San Antonio as phenom Victor Wembanyama will sit out the rest of the season with a blood clot, while coach Gregg Popovich won't return as he's recovering from a stroke. What will the Sixers do with Joel Embiid? Surgery on his knee? Just rest? The conundrum is that they are STILL in the playoff mix even though they're 14 games under .500. I'll see what else is popping in the Association (Luka Doncic ready to take off after his biggest game as a Laker on Saturday night) as things seem to be quiet overall. (49:06) College basketball is waiting to bask in the month of March, because things have been rather low key over the past few days. Although there were a few upsets (Miss St., Missouri, Texas A&M) and St. John's win vs. UConn, there isn't much to discuss. (52:05) MLB Spring Training has begun. Juan Soto hits a HR in his first at-bat. A sign of things to come for the new Met right fielder? Yankees extend Aaron Boone for two more years, and have also raised the ban on facial hair, but what about hair length? Then you have MLB & ESPN mutually agreeing to part ways after the '25 season, with three years left on their deal. Where will MLB go next? Alabama suffers another loss, after being defeated by Auburn last weekend. Is this just a speed bump as they get toward the month of March? Number one ranked Auburn avoids a scare against Arkansas to keep their top ranking in the nation. Kansas continues to be an enigma, losing to unranked BYU by 34, the third worst loss in school history. I'll see what the schedule has on tap this weekend as we're exactly one month away from the NCAA Tournament. (39:28) It should be a battle to witness as the 4 Nations Face-Off concludes with a title game tonight. Will Team USA & Team Canada have a carbon copy of fisticuffs similar to their first game on Saturday night? How will this play out? I'll also take a lay of the NHL landscape as to how the ‘second half' will unfold? Are the Jets and Capitals Cup worthy? Can Florida repeat? Will Edmonton get back to a final? I'll have it all for you as the season reconvenes on Saturday. (55:30) MLB Spring Training is in full swing. One player that has thoughts of a big payday is Blue Jays 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He & his camp were unable to come up with an extension prior to Monday's deadline. What's next? And what will he get on the market? On deck: (6:29) NBA All-Star Weekend has come and gone. Was there anything to get wrapped up in? I don't think so. In fact, there were a couple of players who weren't in favor of the new format as far as the actual game goes. Do the players have a better idea for what the All-Star Game should be? I'll get into Mac McClung's three peat champion of the Slam Dunk Contest. What if LeBron James participated at the age of 40? Also, should more name players/All-Stars throw their hat in the ring to perform for the fans? I'll take a look back on the ‘first half' surprises and disappointments throughout the Association as we're still days away from the schedule resuming. Oh! And I'll peak at my over/under win totals to date. (28:13) Auburn has secured their spot as the best team in the country with a solid win at #2 Alabama on Saturday. Is their game suited for a tournament run next month? (35:07) Who would've thought that the 4 Nations Face-Off would be the talk of the sports world on Saturday night after an epic start to the game between USA-Canada. There were three fights in the first nine seconds of the game, harkening back to yesteryear when fighting was a staple in the sport. Could it make a comeback of sorts for fight fans like myself? I'll also look at what the ‘first half' on the ice has been with the surprises and disappointments throughout the NHL, as well as, my over/under point totals on the season at this point. (51:02) MLB Spring Training is in full swing. There is some news coming out of a couple of camps regarding injuries (Yankees Giancarlo Stanton, in particular) and the Mets newest toy Juan Soto is all smiles on his first day in camp. (55:51) Men's tennis player and number one in the world, Jannik Sinner, has been suspended for three months for violating the sports doping policy. Did he get off light?
