Today we chat with Brady Blevins, Senior Apologist at Watchman Fellowship, an extensive apologetics and cult source that is indispensable for understanding and researching aberrant teachings both within Christendom and outside of it. Which one is more dangerous, within or without? Impossible to say in this age of heresy and apostasy. Today we look at ICC and its aggressive campus proselytizing. Who is Kip McKean? What is his background? How can parents of college students be more aware and prepare their kids for potential cult targeting? We also look at popular Asian cults such as World Mission Society Church of God and Shincheonji. Why do cults flourish in Asian societies to such a level, when one might think their governments would outlaw any expression of religion. As a believer of some duration, it is difficult to understand why anyone would go along with such obvious heresies, but humans being what they are, they are ever searching for a transcendent experience and the community experience to go along with that. A fascinating hour with Dr. Blevins.     Shameless plug for swag for our listeners/donors! https://www.redpillprints.com/stand-up-for-the-truth - Thanks for YOUR Support!

And right on cue, Trump erupted on social media, calling for investigations into people supposedly spreading false rumors about his intention to sell shares of his Truth Social—a revealing indicator of the types of abuses of power that we can expect from a second Trump term. We talked to New Yorker staff writer Susan Glasser, author of a great new piece on what's coming. According to Dr Šedivý, Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine has highlighted the necessity for the EU to strengthen Europe's Defence Technological and Industrial Base (EDTIB). A resilient and competitive EDTIB is a precondition for being able to develop and produce the capabilities that Member States and the EU's partners require for their defence and security. Since February 2022, the EU has launched several major initiatives to boost the EDTIB and address defence gaps, especially ammunition stocks. Going forward, European defence spending needs to remain at the same, relatively high level if the EDTIB and Member States' armed forces are to be fit for purpose and if Europe is to have the capabilities that it needs to address both current and future challenges. About the Speaker: Jiří Šedivý is the Chief Executive of the European Defence Agency, a position which he has held since 2020. Previously, Dr Šedivý served as Defence Minister of the Czech Republic (2006-2007), Deputy Defence Minister (2010-2012), NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning (2007-2010), and Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to NATO (2012-2019). He was also the Czech Special Representative for Resilience and New Threats at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2019-2020). Dr Šedivý is a graduate of Charles University, Prague where he completed a PhD in Political Science and of King's College London where he earned an MA in War Studies.

HOW MUCH OF THE TRAGEDY IS FENTANYL ETC? 4/4: Men Without Work: Post-Pandemic Edition (2022) (New Threats to Freedom Series) https://www.amazon.com/Men-Without-Work-Americas- Nicholas Eberstadt's landmark 2016 study, Men Without Work, cast a spotlight on the collapse of work for men in modern America. Rosy reports of low unemployment rates and “full or near full employment” conditions, he contends, were overlooking a quiet, continuing crisis: Depression-era work rates for American men of “prime working age” (25–54).    The grim truth: over six million prime-age men were neither working nor looking for work. Conventional unemployment measures ignored these labor force dropouts, but their ranks had been rising relentlessly for half a century. Eberstadt's unflinching analysis was, in the words of The New York Times, “an unsettling portrait not just of male unemployment, but also of lives deeply alienated from civil society.”    The famed American work ethic was once near universal: men of sound mind and body took pride in contributing to their communities and families. No longer, warned Eberstadt. And now—six years and one catastrophic pandemic later—the problem has not only worsened: it has seemingly been spreading among prime-age women and workers over fifty-five.    In a brand new introduction, Eberstadt explains how the government's response to Covid-19 inadvertently exacerbated the flight from work in America. From indiscriminate pandemic shutdowns to almost unconditional “unemployment” benefits, Americans were essentially paid not to work.

Active duty military service members make up less than one percent of the U.S. adult population. For the other 99% of us, the actions and complexities of our nation's Armed Forces can be hard to understand, which is why quality journalism on the military is essential.Thom Shanker's decades-long career with The New York Times included 13 years as Pentagon correspondent, where he covered the Department of Defense, combat operations, and national security policy. His extensive reporting helped the American people understand the actions and policies of the U.S. military. He joined host Andrew Kaufmann and the Bush Institute's Jason Galui to discuss his remarkable career as a journalist, his book Age of Danger, the importance of fighting climate change, and why the U.S. must continue to support Ukraine.Hear more from Thom on this episode of The Strategerist, presented by the George W. The use of large language models (LLMs) has become widespread, but there are significant security risks associated with them. LLMs with millions or billions of parameters are complex and challenging to fully scrutinize, making them susceptible to exploitation by attackers who can find loopholes or vulnerabilities. On an episode of The New Stack Makers, Chris Pirillo, Tech Evangelist and Lance Seidman, Backend Engineer at Atomic Form discussed these security challenges, emphasizing the need for human oversight to protect AI systems. One example highlighted was malicious AI models on Hugging Face, which exploited the Python pickle module to execute arbitrary commands on users' machines. To mitigate such risks, Hugging Face implemented security scanners to check every file for security threats. However, human vigilance remains crucial in identifying and addressing potential exploits.Seidman also stressed the importance of technical safeguards and a culture of security awareness within the AI community. Developers should prioritize security throughout the development life cycle to stay ahead of evolving threats. Overall, the message is clear: while AI offers remarkable capabilities, it requires careful management and oversight to prevent misuse and protect against security breaches.Learn more from The New Stack about AI and security:  Artificial Intelligence: Stopping the Big Unknown in Application, Data Security Cyberattacks, AI and Multicloud Hit Cybersecurity in 2023Will Generative AI Kill DevSecOps?  Join our community of newsletter subscribers to stay on top of the news and at the top of your game.

Rosy reports of low unemployment rates and “full or near full employment” conditions, he contends, were overlooking a quiet, continuing crisis: Depression-era work rates for American men of “prime working age” (25–54).    The grim truth: over six million prime-age men were neither working nor looking for work. On this episode of the CMAJ Podcast, Dr. Catherine Varner, deputy editor of CMAJ, sits in for Dr. Blair Bigham and joins Dr. Mojola Omole to explore two articles published in the journal that highlight troubling findings concerning the treatment of opioid use disorder. They begin with a study that revealed significant gaps in treatment for opioid overdose patients, where only 5.5% received opioid agonist therapy within a week of their hospital visit. This comes five years after the release of guidelines for opioid use disorder management in Canada, which recommended starting opioid agonist therapy, specifically Suboxone, in patients with opioid use disorder. One of the paper's co-authors, Dr. Jessica Kent-Rice, a PGY5 resident in emergency medicine and toxicology fellow at the University of Toronto, dissects the complexities of treating opioid use disorder in the emergency department and makes a passionate plea for physicians to increase their prescriptions of these life-saving therapies.Transitioning to the second article, the hosts examine the presence of xylazine, a veterinary sedative, in the illicit opioid supply. Dubbed the "zombie drug" due to its effects on people's skin and prolonged effects during overdose, xylazine is raising alarm bells among emergency physicians. However, the article's co-author, Dr. Peter Wu, an internist and clinical pharmacology and toxicology physician at the University Health Network in Toronto, advocates for a balanced response. He cautions against excessive concern, noting that treatment continues to revolve around providing supportive care.Join us as we explore medical solutions that address the urgent need to change healthcare.
