Since this is our first podcast, I thought I would share a little about my personal skin struggles, how getting fired was the best thing that ever happened to me, and why I started formulating Emme Diane skincare. The funny thing is, I never intended for Emme Diane to become what it is today...so let me tell you the story about how getting fired was the best day of my life! I have been a lifelong acne sufferer and bought Noxema with my first allowance at age 11 & was obsessed with figuring out how to clear my skin and help others I dropped out of high school and went straight to cosmetology school to become an esthetician as I knew that was my calling Even as an esthetician working in medical esthetics, I still could not find products to keep my skin clear consistently even though I literally tried everything! The best skincare products available, all the anti-acne prescriptions like antibiotics, spironolactone, and birth control. Laser treatments, chemical peels…I tried it all and nothing worked 10 years ago, I worked for a doctor who fired me for “not-being flexible enough”...but my reputation and integrity meant more to me than that job Friends and clients coaxed me into starting my own business which I launched in my 1 bedroom apartment (I have been living paycheck to paycheck and had zero savings at the time) At that time, I met a mentor who taught me everything I never learned in beauty school about acne, and why I (and everyone else) continued to struggle with breakouts, cystic acne, and acne scarring. Since there were no products on the market without pore-clogging ingredients, I decided to do it myself and formulated my first product, the Clarifying Serum My products and methods were so successful that word spread like wildfire and I started offering virtual consultations to help clients nationwide (and worldwide too!) We've grown to be a multi-million dollar business but still offer our consultation as a free service as I think it is every adult acne sufferer's right to have access to everything they need to know to get clear and stay clear. Put on your dark lipstick, wash it off with Noxema, and chug some Sunny D--it's time for a late 1990s horror movie! We intended to hate watch "Urban Legend" from 1998, but it turned out to be a decent, predictable-but-fun slasher movie and a nostalgic time capsule. Join us for a play-by-play and stay til the end for movie recommendations.

So, I know what you're thinking, is this a Noxema commercial or what? We're TOTALLY BUGGIN! Is happiness overrated? We spend a lot of money and time working toward being happy. But all this happiness seeking doesn't actually mean we will be. Instead of trying to live a happy life, some say we should try to build meaningful lives. This is much more attainable. Also, just because you're happy doesn't mean you'll live and longer and super duper happy people are kind of a drag. Are you unhappy? Reggie has a list of traits that characterize chronically unhappy people. Plus, Diane Von Furstenberg, laughter yoga, Victor Frankel, Carnation instant milk and raw eggs, Noxema, and Thanksgiving relative angst. Sponsored by Fuck It I'm Changing Plans and Boycotting Thanksgiving Travel Insurance, the insurance that recognizes holiday travel is contingent only if you're candidate, the right candidate, the candidate who doesn't advocate white supremacy wins.
