Donald Trump s'est dit prêt, hier, à prolonger le blocus dans le détroit d'Ormuz et à jouer la montre. Selon la presse américaine, il aurait demandé à ses conseillers de se préparer à un blocus qui « pourrait durer pendant des mois ».Sur son réseau social, le président américain a durci le ton. « Les Iraniens sont étranglés comme un cochon farci. Monsieur gentil, c'est fini ! », a-t-il écrit, au-dessus d'un photomontage le montrant en costume sombre, lunettes noires et fusil d'assaut à la main. Avant d'ajouter : les Iraniens « ont intérêt à devenir intelligents, et vite ».Dans une interview accordée au média Axios, le locataire de la Maison-Blanche se veut plus mesuré. Il assure que « le blocus est un peu plus efficace que les bombardements ». Une stratégie assumée : asphyxier le régime iranien, au risque d'entraîner le monde avec… et les marchés mondiaux où les prix du pétrole flambe.Reste une question : Donald Trump peut-il tenir dans la durée ? Aux États-Unis, la pression monte. L'opinion publique s'inquiète de la hausse des prix à la pompe, et le camp républicain redoute l'impact à l'approche des élections de mi-mandat.Hier, auditionné par la commission des forces armées de la Chambre des représentants, le secrétaire à la Défense, Pete Hegseth, a été vivement interpellé par les élus démocrates. Certains l'accusent de « mentir aux Américains depuis le premier jour » sur les motivations et l'évolution de cette guerre. Le coût du conflit est déjà estimé à 25 milliards de dollars.Sur la scène internationale, les mises en garde se multiplient.
