Born in Turkey and educated in the UK, Irmak Nur Sunal Lutkin is currently based in London, serving as Director of Digital Design at Reuters. She looks after a design team that contributes across Reuters News products and services.Previously she has worked with Atlantic Records, Sony Music, Puma, Adidas, CNN International, The Wall Street Journal, and XOXO Magazine. She cultivated more than 10 years of experience and insights in the design industry across the worlds of branded content, editorial publishing, news, and high-end digital, UX, UI, and print design.We talked about her journey – from struggling to find internships to being a design director at one of the largest media companies in the world. We spoke about how her work has evolved at a hands-on level, as she progressed from junior to director level, with the the methodologies and know-how that she's been deploying. Im Kontrast zur vorherigen Folge sprechen Gronkh und Onkel Jo in Ausgabe 24 von Start & Select über Positives. Gleich zehn wegweisende Ideen von Spiel-Entwicklern haben die beiden zusammen getragen. Es beginnt mit technischen Errungenschaften wie Parallax-Scrolling (keine Sorge, wird erklärt) und tastet sich danach langsam über Hilfreiches wie "Automap" weiter. Bei Nummer 5 mussten die beiden weinen ... Quatsch, kleiner Scherz. Doch ein Blick auf die Minutenanzeige verrät bereits: Bei knapp zwei Stunden Länge haben Gronkh und Onkel Jo mehr als das Hauptthema behandelt. Tatsächlich entwickeln sie im Laufe des Gesprächs sogar einen verrückten Plan, der in 50 Jahren die Welt für immer verändern könnte. «Sonic Mania» macht alles richtig. Bereits beim Startbildschirm freuen sich Mega Drive Nostalgiker - und wenn das Spiel startet, geht der Nostalgie-Flash weiter! Denn Ihr spielt einen leicht modifizierten ersten Level des Erstlings für das Sega Mega Drive. Sonic lässt sich wunderbar steuern, die teils nervig platzierten Gegner fallen heute jedoch noch etwas mehr auf als früher - der Nerv- und Unfairfaktor ist also auch vorhanden. Dennoch: Die Handhabung ist sehr gut, das Schwungverhalten ideal. Die Levels sind äusserst abwechslungsreich und die Remixe bekannter Levels sehr gelungen - besonders gefällt mir, dass sehr viele Bosse auf Euch warten. Einige sind mitunter nervig, insgesamt übertrumpfen jedoch die guten Bossfights. Auch die musikalische Kulisse macht Laune, Oldschool-Feeling das Euch nach vorne treibt. Parallax-Scrolling war auf dem Mega Drive der Hit, auch hier wird dieser Grafikeffekt schön eingesetzt, es macht Freude die Levels zu erkunden - denn diese sind sehr vielseitig - viele Wege führen zum Ziel. Auch der günstige Preis ist ein klares Plus und es gibt sogar einen Co-op-Modus. Alles in allem ist Sonic da, wo er hingehört - auf einem guten Jump’n’Run-Level - mit einigen bekannten Macken, vielen abwechslungsreichen Levels (12 Zonen à zwei Levels)- und knuffigem Gegnerdesign sowie einer tadellosen Steuerung.
