In this final episode on Japan, we have the privilege of hearing directly from Brother Fed, pastor of the "Church of the Rising Son", a fitting name for a church in a country where the Light of the Son has been shining for a few years now. By Brother Fed's testimony and account, we can clearly observe Divine providence at work, orchestrating things from translations, to providing a building for meetings, and creating a job opening for Bro. Fed to immigrate and pastor the little gathering of believers.
Easter PrayerEaster is a time of joy and renewal. Followers of Jesus saw their darkest days replaced with the miracle of hope and eternal life. Christians today take time for self-examination and reflection during Lent. “Going dark” for a few weeks prepares us to fully experience those first rays of resurrection light on Easter.Easter PrayerWhen everything was darkand it seemed that the sun would never shine again, your love broke through.Your love was too strong, too wide, too deepfor death to hold. The sparks cast by your love dance and spreadand burst forthwith resurrection light.Gracious God,We praise you for the light of new lifemade possible through Jesus. We praise you for the light of new lifethat shone on the first witnesses of resurrection. We praise you for the light of new lifethat continues to shine in our hearts today. We pray that the Easter light of life, hope and joy, will live in us each day;and that we will be bearers of that lightinto the lives of others.Amen.By Michaela Youngson
Damon and Damo are joined by active-duty Command Master Chief and host of ‘The Rising Son' podcast, Dean Howell. The guys kick it off with a conversation about Dean's upbringing. From a Harvard University “recruit” to a Navy Recruiting Office, Damo asks Dean what made him “Choose Navy.” This turned out to be an excellent choice as Dean made Master Chief in 15 years. He also spent the greater part of his military career in Japan, where he met his wife and raised his three daughters. Dean is an advocate for Service members maximizing on their talents while still serving our country. The guys discuss alcoholism in the Navy. With Dean being on the tail end of a “75 Hard” challenge, discipline and challenging yourself to fight temptations is a reoccurring theme. How the hell does someone make Master Chief in 15 Years? What the heck does it mean to be in the “right place at the right time”? Why does Damo hate that expression so much? The guys discuss where the Command Master Chief falls in the command's organization structure. You may be surprised by this. Is the Senior Enlisted Advisor community a separate entity than the CPO Mess? How's the state of the CPO Mess right now? What can we do to fix some of the negative thoughts about the CPO Mess? Damon wants to know how Dean approaches his Chief's Mess on Day 1. Dean discusses one of the craziest things that he's seen as a Command Master Chief. The life of a podcaster is explored. The guys talk the power of “thinking big” and taking risks. Dean dishes some detail on the book that he's currently working on, ‘H.O.L.D. F.A.S.T.' which he intends to release later this year. Is the Navy pay system “all jacked up”? How does a CMDCM feel about “CMDCM pay”? Do Command Master Chiefs make enough money? There is so much more in this episode. Make sure you listen until the very end! Remember to follow the ‘Permission to Speak Freely' podcast on TikTok, Facebook, Discord, Instagram, Twitter, and subscribe on YouTube. With a challenging upbringing, Aaron Schembri (Kadota, Daylesford) was distracted at school and fell into the wrong crowd. When he landed a job in hospitality, it grabbed his attention, and he found focus and direction for the first time. After working in some of Melbourne's best restaurants, he fell in love with his now partner in life and business. Her Japanese heritage, and countless trips to Japan completely changed his focus as a chef, and now the pair have created one of the most fascinating regional Japanese restaurants in Australia. https://kadotarestaurant.com.au Follow Deep In The Weeds on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/deepintheweedspodcast/?hl=en Follow Huck https://www.instagram.com/huckstergram/ Follow Rob Locke (Executive Producer) https://www.instagram.com/foodwinedine/ LISTEN TO OUR OTHER FOOD PODCASTS https://linktr.ee/DeepintheWeedsNetwork Deep in the Weeds is a food podcast hosted by Anthony Huckstep in conversation with chefs, food producers and members of the hospitality industry. For this "flash forward" bonus episode I have written a short fictional monologue to help us enter the story of Jesus from what might strangely feel like both a very different perspective and yet a very familiar one. It is the story of Barabbas. In a continued season of challenge, may you discover hope through a man we know very little about who stood on trial next to Jesus. As you listen, it will be helpful to know that the Hebrew word “bar” means son and “abba” means father. Maybe on a Sunday sunrise Barabbas (son of a father) can help us discover bar Abba (Son of Father God) as the Son rises. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rob-touchstone/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rob-touchstone/support
