We're back with PROFESSOR Telly Leung! Godspell, Aladdin, Rent, Glee, Allegiance, In Transit ... the guy has had an incredible career and he's just getting started. Telly just returned from Godspell at The University of Michigan and Dan and Joe are ready to go back to college so they can be directed by Telly. This is such a joy of a conversation. We talk about why representation matters, the reckoning in our business, creating art, waiting overnight in line for 20$ tickets, and how the greatest buzz for Telly comes from teaching the next generation. We love this man. We love you. Happy Friday. Telly was born and raised in New York City. He grew up in a traditional Chinese home in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. After graduating from Stuyvesant High School he attended Carnegie Mellon University.. My guest on this week’s Everyday Extraordinaries episode is a bona fide Broadway produced musical theatre writer, and it has been my privilege to be her friend since we were teenagers. Sara Wordsworth is one of the co-writers of In Transit on Broadway, has two cruise ship shows on the Disney Cruise Line (she wrote the ships’ stage adaptations of two little movies called Frozen and Beauty and the Beast), is a runner, a mom to a sweet and funny four year old, and a champion for so many dreamers. Sara has a gift for seeing right through to the heart of a person and making them feel special, and I think you’ll hear that in our conversation. In this episode, we mention the following websites: Bullet Journal: http://bulletjournal.com/ The Artist’s Way: https://www.amazon.com/Artists-Way-Spiritual-Higher-Creativity/dp/1585421464 In Transit on Broadway: http://www.intransitbroadway.com/ Sara’s site: http://www.sarawordsworth.com/ #podcast #broadway #InTransitBroadway #inspiration #smallbusiness #musicaltheatre
The four writers of the all-acapella musical In Transit visited the Billboard on Broadway podcast to talk about their unique collaboration (all four are credited with writing book, music and lyrics – a rarity on Broadway). Guests Kristen Anderson-Lopez (who co-wrote Frozen’s music with her husband, Bobby Lopez), Sara Wordsworth, James-Allen Ford and Russ Kaplan join Billboard's Rebecca Milzoff.
