I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Adam Christing, a humorist, keynote speaker, and author, to talk about the power of laughter, connection, and storytelling. Adam has spent four decades performing more than 4,000 humor presentations for CEOs, Fortune 500 companies, major nonprofits, and high-stakes audiences around the world. He is a member of Hollywood's iconic Magic Castle, has worked with David Copperfield, authored The Laugh Factor: The 5 Humor Tactics to Link, Lift, and Lead, and is the CEO of Clean Comedians®, a business that uses humor to bring people together rather than driving them apart. Adam is more than just a gifted public speaker and performer. He is a student of human nature. In our conversation, he explains how comedy works psychologically, why humor diffuses conflict, how it disarms resistance, and how it allows leaders to deliver truth without putting people on the defensive. Adam also offers a brilliant blueprint for anyone who speaks publicly. Executives, trial lawyers, entrepreneurs, military leaders, and educators, can all benefit from Adam's crash course in how to grab an audience's attention and keep it. We break down how great presenters prepare, how to deal with nerves, why silence is so powerful, how to tailor your message to the room, and how storytelling can transform information into impact. Along the way, Adam tells stories about joining the Magic Castle as a teenager, bombing on stage, learning from masters like Johnny Carson and Winston Churchill, and discovering that audiences do not want perfection - they want presence. He also explains why the boundaries of "clean comedy" actually make comedy more creative, why leaders should practice humor like a skill, and why audiences always root for the person at the microphone. This episode is about leadership, persuasion, communication, and how to connect through humour. It is also full of laughs. I invite you to listen to the full conversation and learn how humor can help you become a better leader, speaker, and storyteller. And now I give you, Adam Christing.
While at the 2025 Abbott's Get Together, we chatted with several magicians. A while back we chatted with Craig Diamond and last week we released the one with Antony Gerard and this week we talk with Derek Hughes. That is a subtle hint for just another reason why you should attend magic conventions…all the great talent that comes and shares their time and talents. Derek has performed his magic on MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, the CW's Penn & Teller: Fool Us, and the Ellen Degeneres Show. He's a consulting producer on TRUtv's hit magic series, The Carbonaro Effect and was a finalist on season 10 of NBC's America's Got Talent [sic]. His back story was much about his health as a child and the importance of his children to his life. He regularly performs in nightclubs across the U.S. and has been nominated for several categories at the Magic Castle over the years. He is also a published author of a children's book! View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize This week, Derek talks about his experience with AGT and the invaluable advice he received from Jim Steinmeyer. We also discuss the difference between a magician who does comedy versus a comedian who does magic. Derek tells us about the children's book he wrote (available through Amazon on the link below) before he even had children. #556 - This week we do some more December box office trivia, talk a little bit about the legacy of Rob Reiner, go over World Cup and Olympic Game ticketing, and talk a little bit about the Magic Castle. Happy Holidays, everyone!
Stassi and C-O-Lo kick things off with a cool New Yorker who accidentally made Stassi question if the Magic Castle is secretly lame, which leads to a whole tangent about the dark web, online trolls, and Stassi giving Mormon Wives star Jen Affleck advice on handling negativity. Stassi talks about how inspired she is by Whitney Leavitt and how impressive it is to watch a working mom juggle so much—because it's rough out here and cheers to all of us. But the highlight? Stassi meets her actual hero, Kris Jenner, at the L'Oréal Women of Worth event—word vomit, vision board confession and all—and leaves feeling genuinely inspired. Oh, and she also discovers the greatest invention ever: a burrata bar. Today on another encore edition of the Rarified Heir Podcast we are talking to Denise Gautier, daughter of actor, painter, artist and raconteur Dick Gautier. Perhaps best known for his role of Hymie in the TV series Get Smart even though he was only on a limited number of episodes, we delve into the wonderful and sometimes difficult world of what it was like to grow up the daughter of a delightful but often too casual father. Ahem. The idea of looking into connecting with Denise came entirely from our interview with Susannah Mars, daughter of comedian Kenneth Mars. Susannah told us a very funny, if entirely inappropriate story, about meeting up with her dad and his actor friends at lunch and receiving a drawing from Gautier. While that drawing simply would not fly in 2025, it's what made us laugh and frankly, some of us also had dad's like that too. Ahem. Anyway, Denise gives us the lowdown on what it was like being with the very funny, exceedingly talented artist father as well as his unconventional ways. Along the way we discuss Dick's connections to Broadway, the beatnik coffee culture of San Francisco in the sixties, the famed Magic Castle, fellow actors and friends Dave Madden, Mel Brooks, his second wife actress Barbara Stuart, his various game show appearances on shows like Tattle Tales and much more. This is the Rarified Heir Podcast. Everyone has a story.

One of the favorite parts of each year's Magic At The Beach convention in Myrtle Beach, SC, is when the stars take to the stage and share some of their embarrassing, funny and tragic stories from their days on the road. If you have performed long enough and in enough different venues around the world, you will eventually have things go wrong during your travel, your show, during your preparation or tear down, or somewhere along the road. This week we feature some of those people who were highlighted as talent for the 2025 convention and agreed to share some of their stories and even a few about other performers they know/knew. View fullsize Join Charles Bach as he introduces a few of the performers this week that include Dana Daniels, Cody Fisher, Bizarro, Nick Lewin, Howard Blackwell, Joan DuKore, and Jeki Yoo as they share some of their recollections with TSA, working aboard cruise ships, performing at the Magic Castle, and much more. Send us a textLarry Wilson, a seasoned comedy magician with over thirty years of experience, has captivated audiences with his dynamic performances on television and at renowned venues like the Magic Castle. Specializing in close-up magic, Wilson expertly blends humor and illusion in acts such as his "cocktails and conjuring" routine, emphasizing the importance of meticulous rehearsal and live audience feedback in refining his craft. He values the opportunity to experiment with new material in intimate magic clubs, viewing these settings as creative laboratories where he can discover the comedic timing crucial to his routines. While Wilson embraces the experimental nature of smaller venues, he notes the necessity for polished, bulletproof material in corporate settings, where the risk of trying untested tricks or jokes is too great, highlighting the unique challenges faced by comedy magicians compared to stand-up comedians.(00:00:57) Timing and Misdirection in Comedy Magic Shows(00:05:27) Perfecting Magic Tricks Through Extensive Rehearsal(00:10:36) Bulletproof Acts for Corporate Environments(00:19:23) Refining Performances Through Audience EngagementLarry Wilson's Company: The Wilson MethodSupport the show www.StandupComedyPodcastNetwork.com Website....check it out, podcast, jokes, blogs, and More!"NEW" Video Podcast: Tag Team Talent Podcast on Spotify & YouTube Podcast Quality List: https://www.millionpodcasts.com/heritage-podcasts/ Please Write a Review: in-depth walk-through for leaving a review.Interested in Standup Comedy? Tired of ADHD strategies that don't work? Here's what actually does. FREE training here: https://programs.tracyotsuka.com/signup_____Kiersten Lyons spent most of her life being told she was too much. Too loud, too dramatic, too many feelings all at once. She was also told she wasn't enough. Not pretty enough, not the right fit, not what Hollywood was looking for. The dichotomy nearly broke her. But it also became the foundation of her story. As a working actress in LA for over a decade, with recurring roles on Grey's Anatomy and Mad Men, Kiersten kept hearing the same feedback: "You're great, we just don't know what to do with you." So she created her own work, writing and starring in her award-winning one-woman show Crushed. It was supposed to become a TV series. Then the producer ghosted her. At 42, while advocating for her son's ADHD evaluation, she finally got her own diagnosis and suddenly all those years of rejection, of being "too much" and "not enough," made sense. She understood why she could memorize all 50 states in under 20 seconds to impress boys (it didn't work), why she felt everything so intensely, and why masking had left her exhausted for decades. Her debut memoir Crushed: The Boys That Never Liked Me Back opens with her fiancé confessing he didn't love her and had cheated at The Magic Castle while she was addressing their wedding invitations. Six months later, he won $100,000 on reality TV. Her life unraveled publicly, but the book isn't about revenge. It's about reclaiming yourself when everything falls apart. In this conversation, Kiersten and Tracy explore pattern recognition, rejection sensitivity, and why so many creative women with ADHD end up in industries that require constant validation. They talk about the loneliness of being the eldest daughter who takes care of everyone, the grief of late diagnosis, and why acceptance, not positivity, is what allows us to heal.Resources:Website: https://www.kierstenlyons.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/kierstenlyonsroarTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@kiersSend a Message: Your Name | Email | Message If this podcast helps you understand your ADHD brain, Shift helps you train it.
