You can follow him @axiosalex Buy the Book! From Axios' Senior Political Reporter Alex Isenstadt, a fly-on-the-wall account of Donald Trump's history-defying reelection campaign, illustrating how he overcame seemingly insurmountable challenges to return to the White House. Over the course of the last four years, the American public looked on as the former president faced a series of daunting obstacles to return to the White House. The lingering cloud of January 6, a shadow effort within the Republican establishment to defeat him in the primary, multiple indictments, assassination attempts, and an 11th hour change of his opponent all threatened to derail his return to power at any moment. In Revenge, journalist Alex Isenstadt takes readers deep into Mar-a-Lago, inside the courtroom, and aboard “Trump Force One” to show how Trump and his revamped team responded, overcame, and in some cases orchestrated each and every surreal moment in this one-of-a-kind presidential campaign. Based on extraordinary access and over 300 interviews, Isenstadt paints a unique and deeply revealing portrait of a man bent on returning to the White House at all costs – and who successfully portrayed himself as an avatar of vengeance for the millions of Americans who voted for him. Now, for the first time, readers will experience Trump's reelection bid from the inside. Join us Monday's and Thursday's at 8EST for our Bi Weekly Happy Hour Hangout's ! Larry is joined by Senior Political Reporter at Axios Alex Isenstadt to talk about his new book ‘Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump's Return to Power'. They begin their conversation by discussing Alex's approach to writing the book and the environment surrounding Trump when he decided to run for president a second time. They then analyze the personality differences between Trump's first and second administration, particularly the bevy of influential allies currently in his cabinet like White House chief of staff Susie Wiles (10:25). This leads to an examination of Trump as an indomitable political athlete whose mystique has kept a solid base of followers even through his most politically devastating moments (15:40). After the break, Larry and Alex shine a light on Trump's mercurial relationship with Fox News, Rupert Murdoch, and Tucker Carlson, while highlighting the behind-the-scenes machinations that led to JD Vance's ascendancy to Vice President (28:13). Finally, Larry and Alex analyze the viability of Elon Musk's partnership with Team Trump and talk about the future of both the Democrat and Republican parties (45:36). The Ministry of Health is under fire for failing to declare a conflict of interest. It recently came to light that one of the officials advising Minister Casey Costello on tobacco reforms was the sister-in-law of Labour's health spokesperson, Ayesha Verrall. Verrall is a vocal opponent of Costello's policies. Senior Political Reporter Barry Soper told Heather du Plessis-Allan that it's a disgrace. He says that even though the Director General of Health says the Ministry adhered strictly to the rules of conflict of interest, they failed to pass that particular conflict on to Costello. Soper says they've fallen well short, as multiple people were well aware of the conflict and failed to report it. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The rural area around Toronto's major highways is some of the most fertile land you'll find in Canada, and its zoned that way. It's agricultural land, with plenty of space for peaceful rural homesteads—or, as the city grows, townhouses and small communities.Oh, and trucks. Thousands of them, rolling up and down those rural roads all day and night, and parking at one of literally hundreds of illegal truck depots that are operating throughout the region. It's been happening for years. And there's nothing, at least so far, anyone has been able to do to stop them....GUEST: David Rider, Senior Political Reporter, The Toronto Star We love feedback at The Big Story, as well as suggestions for future episodes.
