In this message, Samuel Goulet continues The Mountain Church's family series by exploring how the culture of our homes shapes the people we become and the impact we have on the world around us. He walks through five important questions every family can ask: what is being taught, nurtured, built, encouraged, and reached? With practical examples and heartfelt insight, Samuel encourages families to make Jesus the foundation of their home, teach faith relationally, nurture growth with intention, speak words that build up, and create homes that reflect the love, generosity, and presence of God to others.

In this episode of the Fairest Love Podcast, we sat down with Dr. Greg and Lisa Popcak to explore a powerful new study on what helps Catholic families raise children who remain faithful into adulthood. The conversation reveals why so many parenting strategies fall short: kids don't just need church attendance or busy schedules, they need to experience faith as the source of warmth, connection, and peace in the home. From family prayer and shared meals to working, playing, talking, and praying together, the Popcaks offer practical, research-backed ways to build a more connected domestic church. If you're a parent who wants to strengthen your family bonds and pass on faith in a lasting way, this episode is full of encouragement, clarity, and hope.https://catholiccounselors.com/
Can a celebrity really keep their family a secret in 2026? One very famous parent is believed to have two children that most people don't even know exist, or do they? Plus, it's school holidays, which means one thing: Dad-cation season. But after we witnessed one father do absolutely nothing on a long-haul flight while his partner did everything, we need to ask... are we still having the same parenting conversation? And finally, remember all the dumb things you said before you had kids? Turns out, pre-parenthood you was absolutely delusional. As a pediatrician, I was not asking enough questions about my patients' periods. We ask when the last one was. We rarely go deeper than that. And after this conversation, I will never approach it the same way again. I sat down with my friend and colleague Dr. Natalie Crawford, reproductive endocrinologist, fertility specialist, and author of The Fertility Formula. Parents often spend so much time navigating the needs of today that it's easy to lose sight of where we're ultimately headed. But what if raising children begins with keeping the end in mind? In this episode, Davies Owens welcomes Dr. Jennifer Freeman of the Rooted Families Initiative to discuss a framework for family discipleship that helps parents understand the unique opportunities and challenges of every stage of childhood—from infancy through young adulthood. Drawing from decades of mentoring college students and families, Jennifer shares practical wisdom for raising children who grow into wise, discerning adults who love Christ. Tune in to hear: Why parenting is most effective when we keep the end goal in view. Jennifer's five stages of family discipleship and how each stage requires something different from parents. How to encourage healthy independence without withdrawing guidance. Why meaningful conversations become increasingly important during the teen years. How parents can prepare young adults for adulthood without trying to control every outcome. Why seasons of questioning and doubt can become important milestones in developing mature faith. Practical encouragement for trusting God's work in your children's lives through every stage. Rather than offering another parenting formula, Jennifer encourages parents to see themselves as beloved caregivers, partnering with God as He forms their children over time. Whether you're holding a newborn, navigating middle school, or preparing to launch a young adult, this conversation offers hope, perspective, and practical guidance for every season. In a day much like Jeroboam's, where false prophets and a sexualized, idolatrous culture compromise even the professing church (2 Peter 2:1), God calls fathers to rise up as the heads of their households. Deuteronomy 6:1-9 commands us to have God's Word on our hearts, to read it diligently, and to teach it constantly to our children—because we cannot impart what we do not possess. Fathers must reject passivity, fulfill their primary responsibility to train their children in the Scriptures without provoking them to anger, boldly affirm God's good design for marriage, intimacy, and the value of life, and maintain a passionate zeal for truth with love for sinners.
In this episode, Cole Phillips and Rowdy Lynn explore the biblical perspective on current cultural issues surrounding sexuality, marriage, and identity. The data is in, and it reads like a commentary on Deuteronomy 6. A major new study covered by Fox News found that children raised in homes where faith was discussed several times a week, where both parents attended church, and where fathers built strong bonds with their children were substantially more likely to remain faithful as adults. Kevin and Danny discuss the findings...and make the case that the means God has always ordained for generational faith is not the Sunday school or the youth group...but the home.

Today on Uncommon Sense, we're discussing the tragic state of the modern world. From the protests in Ireland to growing frustration across Western nations, many people feel as though their voices are no longer being heard by the institutions that claim to represent them. I'll share why I support the right of people to protest and why I believe the demonstrations in Ireland have resonated with so many people around the world. We'll also discuss what I see as a deeper spiritual crisis affecting modern society. Many of the political, cultural, and social problems we face today are symptoms of a broader moral and spiritual decline, one that cannot be solved through politics alone. In this episode:My thoughts on the protests in IrelandWhy so many citizens now feel disconnected from their governmentsThe growing divide between ordinary people and powerful institutionsThe role of faith, morality, and personal responsibility in rebuilding societyWhy I believe many of today's crises point to a deeper spiritual battleWhether you agree or disagree, this episode is an invitation to think critically about the direction of our culture, our governments, and our future.--https://www.youversion.com/bible-app
How do we faithfully raise children in a culture that constantly fragments their attention? In this episode of Base Camp Live, Davies Owens welcomes Suzanne Phillips of Beacon Parent for a thoughtful and deeply encouraging conversation about parenting in an age of distraction, anxiety, and cultural confusion. Rather than offering another parenting checklist, Suzanne shares a biblical framework for becoming the kind of parent your children can follow. Together, they explore what Suzanne calls the seven facets of a “Beacon Parent,” including the supremacy of Christ, expressed honor, intentional legacy, transformative wisdom, humble courage, secure identity, and personal responsibility. Along the way, they discuss: • Why everything starts at home • The difference between knowledge and wisdom • How technology is reshaping childhood • Why honor is disappearing from families • The dangers of fear-based parenting • Why children need gradual responsibility • How parents can lead with clarity instead of anxiety This conversation is both practical and hopeful for parents seeking to raise grounded, thoughtful, Christ-centered children in a rapidly changing world. The Mama's Den podcast is still on tour and guess who is with us!! Ashley's literal day one, Nalo Wise, of course. This week in the Den, we are running back our conversation with Nalo after she held us down for the first ever Mama's Den live show. Born just days apart and best friends since infancy, Ashley and Nalo have grown up side by side through every stage of life. From childhood memories and teenage growing pains to marriage, motherhood, their bond has endured because of honesty, forgiveness, and a deep commitment to choosing each other again and again. Nothing is off limits in this conversation—including the season when Nalo's husband wasn't exactly Ashley's biggest fan. Tashi Dekyid Monet is a Tibetan scholar, writer, and translator who grew up in the Eastern Tibetan Highlands in the rhythms of nomadic and agricultural life, where time is measured by light and shadow, where songs carry cosmological wisdom and where knowing the face of the land means being woven into a web of reciprocal relationships with all four realms of beings. Through explorations of oral tradition, sacred geography, spiritual songs, and the concept of tendrel, or auspicious connection, Tashi offers insights into ways of knowing that nurture belonging, protect sacred knowledge, and recognize land itself as a teacher. A strong home begins with a father who knows and loves the Lord. In this video, Costi Hinn shares what Scripture teaches about raising children through intentional, gospel-centered fatherhood.
This is one of those conversations every parent needs to hear...so we had to RUN IT BACK. Certified sex educator, intimacy expert, and bestselling author Shan Boodram joins the Mamas for an honest, hilarious, and deeply informative conversation about how to talk to our children about their bodies, boundaries, consent, crushes, and sex—without fear or shame. From toddlers touching themselves to teenagers navigating their first relationships, Shan walks us through what healthy sexual development actually looks like at every age and explains why giving kids the correct language for their body parts can be one of the most powerful ways to protect them. The Mamas also get personal, sharing their own experiences with purity culture, parenting teenagers, and the very real tension between wanting to keep our children safe while preparing them for healthy, loving relationships. Whether you're raising toddlers, tweens, or teens, this episode is packed with practical guidance, unforgettable laughs, and the kind of information many of us wish our own parents had. Trust us: save this episode, send it to your partner, and share it with every parent you know. ____ The Mama's Den is on tour throughout May and there are THREE cities left!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the incredible mothers out there. Today's episode is a deeper conversation about the urgent need for stronger, more biblical men and women in our culture, people willing to stand for truth, protect the vulnerable, and refuse to stay silent in the face of evil.We discuss the ongoing outrage surrounding the Epstein files, the lack of accountability for powerful people, and the broader cultural failure to protect victims from wicked and predatory individuals. But this conversation goes beyond headlines. It's about morality, courage, justice, faith, and what happens when societies stop valuing strong families, strong character, and biblical principles. This episode is ultimately about hope too, because evil does not win forever. Real justice matters, truth matters, and good people still have a responsibility to speak up.
Main Theme Mother's Day message at Victory Church. Focus on “real housewives” as godly women who build their homes. Core idea: wise women build up their house, family, and faith. Opening Context Pastor introduces five women sharing short messages. Theme is contrasted with reality-TV “housewives,” which are framed as foolish and destructive. Scripture anchor: Proverbs 14:1 about wise women building their house. 1. Perspective on Identity Speaker: Carolyn Granada. Main point: how women see themselves shapes how they live. Key text: Ephesians 2:1–5. Believers are no longer dead in sin but alive in Christ. Mothers are described as prayerful, compassionate, serving women with victory in Christ. Emphasis on serving in the church and using one's gifts. 2. Praying for Family Focus: how to pray for your family. Main idea: pray according to God's will, not selfish desire. Personal testimony about illness, marriage, and praying for children. Consistent, persistent prayer led to family blessing and husband's spiritual growth. Encouragement to pray early, pray boldly, seek discernment, and stand in the gap for family. 3. Establishing Devotion in the Home Title: “Establishing an Altar, Our Heart and Our Home.” Key text: Deuteronomy 6:5–7. The home should be centered on loving God and teaching children daily. Practical steps: Let children hear you pray. Make prayer the first response. Read and study Scripture together. Be creative and intentional in teaching. Make faith part of ordinary daily life. Family devotions should be a way of life, not a ritual. 4. Raising Children to Love Jesus Speaker shares motherhood and parenting stories. Main point: train children in the way they should go. Key texts: Proverbs 22:6 and Joshua 24:15. Parents must model the faith they want their children to follow. Daily routines should become opportunities to teach Jesus. Church attendance is important and should remain a priority. The speaker emphasizes persistence in prayer for children, even if they wander. 5. Treating Your Husband in Public Topic: how wives should speak about and treat their husbands publicly. Main principles: Show respect and honor. Maintain a gentle and quiet spirit. Support his leadership. Give verbal affirmation. Protect his reputation. Key texts: Ephesians 4:29, 1 Peter 3:3–4, Ephesians 5, Proverbs 18:21, Proverbs 31:11. Main warning: avoid criticism, sarcasm, gossip, or public belittling. Encouragement for young women and singles to learn these principles early. Closing Prayer and Blessing Pastor thanks the speakers and affirms the honesty of their testimonies. Blessing is given to all mothers and caregivers. Key text: Hebrews 6:10. Message: God sees every act of service and will not forget it. Prayer for: Strength and encouragement. Healing for broken or hurting mothers. Comfort for grief or estrangement. Fresh fire and continued faithfulness. Mothers receive a gift bag as a token of appreciation. Overall Message Godly women build homes through prayer, teaching, service, and honor. Motherhood is hard, often unnoticed, but never unseen by God. The church family should support women in their calling. Faith, family, and daily devotion are central throughout the message.
All Christians want their children to become believers. But how should we encourage them in the faith? At what age should professing children be baptized? And how are we to guide their integration into the local church? Pastors Mitch and Craig bring back Caleb Abernathy to help them delve into this very dear and personal topic.
Right after our very first live show, we sat down and told the truth about what it actually took to make it happen — the pressure, the fear, the behind-the-scenes chaos… and the moments we weren't sure we could pull it off at all. We went back and tightened this episode because the message still hits. It's scary. It's hard. And it's exactly what moms do. The Mama's Den is on tour starting one week from today, May 4th.
This week Elle and Vee chat with Aviva (aka Leora) about the raw and unexpected intersection of parenting, tantra, and kink. They explore how divorce became a gateway to self-discovery, pleasure, and reclaiming personal power—while unpacking how core principles of kink and tantra (like attunement, boundaries, and presence) can actually enhance the way we parent. The conversation weaves through emotional regulation, dominance vs. control, and finding pleasure in everyday parenting moments. It's a provocative look at what becomes possible when parents stop separating their desires from their role as caregivers.Investing in Pleasure: A Path to Self-Discovery. Is "fighting" always a failure of discipline, or is it a necessary life skill? Dr. Roger Smith explores the nuance between innate aggression and a value-based fighting spirit. While the rule of thumb is always to "use words," this episode dives into why children must also be equipped with the capacity to defend what matters most. From martial arts training to deep conversations about integrity, learn how to teach your child the balance between self-control and the courage to stand up for their values. Discover how to move beyond the fear of conflict and help your child decide what—and who—is truly worth fighting for. When our guest was born, her mom's labor was candles, olive oil, and vibes… Unfortunately, we didn't have the same experience. In this episode of The Mama's Den, we're getting real about childbirth — because between us, we've experienced a little bit of everything. The beautiful births. The “this is not what I planned” moments. The amazing providers… and the ones who had us like, wait, is this normal?! And if you've ever walked away from a birth experience feeling confused, dismissed, rushed, or just trying to make sense of what happened — you are not alone. We're joined by Certified Nurse Midwife Jyesha Wren, who breaks down what midwives actually do (spoiler: they don't just pop in at the end), how they differ from OBs and doulas, and why so many women — especially Black women — deserve more supportive, informed, and respectful care. In true Mama's Den fashion, we're sharing: • Our real childbirth stories — the highs, the surprises, and the “nobody told me THIS” moments • The myth vs. reality of birth (because it's not just crystals and calm breathing, okay?) • What midwives actually do — and why that level of care can change everything • The difference between midwives, OBs, and doulas • Why so many women leave birth feeling unheard — and what should be different • What to expect from your care team (and what you have every right to ask for) • How culturally aligned, community-centered care models are improving outcomes As Jyesha explains, midwifery is rooted in supporting birth as a natural process — while also knowing when to bring in medical care — creating a more balanced, human-centered experience. This episode will have you laughing, nodding, side-eyeing your past experiences
Why does the Torah prefer the ben yonah over the tor after childbirth? The tor bonds for life. When it loses its partner, it never recovers. The ben yonah also bonds deeply but can re-pair after loss.In this shiur, delivered in Ba'er Miriam, Rav Burg explains that parenting means:Loving deeply but not in a way that makes separation impossible. At birth, a mother and child are one. But healthy growth requires a slow, careful separation. Not too fast. Not too little.Because real connection only happens when there are two selves not one fused identity. The goal of parenting isn't to hold on forever. It's to give so fully… that your child can one day let go.

Raising children with profound special needs means stepping into truth, even when it's uncomfortable.I had such a meaningful conversation with Sarah Kernion about what it really looks like to raise children with profound, nonspeaking autism, and how that reality often differs from the public narrative. Sarah shares her journey as a mom, from those early intuitive concerns to navigating diagnosis, therapy, and building a truly collaborative team.We talk openly about the emotional weight families carry and why honoring that lived experience matters. Sarah brings such a powerful perspective on communication, reminding us that AAC enhances connection and that growth is not always linear. One of my favorite takeaways is how she reframes communication, not as a single outcome, but as a shared process between child, caregiver, and provider. We also dive into what makes a great team. The biggest shift is moving away from hierarchy and toward true collaboration, where parents feel heard and valued. Sarah's work through Inchstones is all about helping families feel seen, supported, and empowered in that journey.#autism #speechtherapyWhat's Inside:The gap between the public autism narrative and real family lifeWhy AAC is a powerful tool for connection and growthHow to build collaborative, parent-centered therapy teamsMentioned In This Episode:InchstonesInchstones on InstagramEarn CEUs with a community of peers. Black mamas deserve support — not just during birth, but before, during, and long after. It's Black Maternal Health Week and, in this powerful episode of The Mama's Den, we're joined by doula leaders Khefri Riley and Dr. Sayida Peprah-Wilson to talk about what it really means to be supported in your birth journey — emotionally, physically, and mentally. From breaking down what doulas actually do to unpacking the realities of giving birth on Medi-Cal, this conversation is both eye-opening and empowering. Because here's the truth: a beautiful, supported birth experience should not be a luxury — and in California, it doesn't have to be. We talk about: • What doulas do and why they matter for better birth outcomes • Why culturally aligned care is essential, not optional • Postpartum support, mental health, and why care doesn't stop after birth • The Medi-Cal doula benefit — and how it's changing access for Black families • The Medi-Cal Doula Hub and how to find support in your community • How advocacy and community are transforming maternal health in California As Khefri shares, “You can be autonomous in your experience… and you don't have to think you can't have that because you don't have money.” Whether you're expecting, supporting someone who is, or simply want to understand your options — this episode is a reminder that you have choices, you deserve care, and support may already be available to you. If you're enrolled in Medi-Cal in California, doula services are now covered — and could make a meaningful difference in your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. Because motherhood was never meant to be done alone. The Mamas are GOING ON TOUR ALL OF MAY!!! Want to see them?? AI isn't coming. It's here. And it's already shaping your kids. While most parents are barely aware of what tools their children are using, classrooms are changing, homework is changing, and the way young people think and create is changing. The question isn't whether AI will be part of your family's future — it's whether you'll lead your home through it intentionally or let it shape your children unchecked. In this episode, we train fathers to think clearly about artificial intelligence: the real dangers, the subtle temptations, and the massive opportunities. What are teachers seeing in classrooms right now? How should Christian parents respond? And how do you disciple your children to use AI as a tool — not a crutch, not a shortcut, and not a master? Technology always discipled someone. The question is: will it disciple your kids… or will you? If you care about raising capable, honest, thinking adults in an AI-saturated world, this episode is for you.
