(A Biblical Response To Alcohol Series)While "juice" was an uncommon word during the time of the translation of the King James Bible, there is one time where the word "juice" is found in our Bible - Song of Solomon 8:2. If "wine" was so often used because of its commonality in that time period, why translate the word "juice" here? Doesn't this imply that the other passages translated "wine" are actually references to alcohol?

The Bible. In this series, I am doing the complete Bible using the ESV. I will break it down into Books and Chapters, having them in seasons, and make each episode number a chapter to make it easy to find what you are looking for. In other words, season 1 would be the first book, Genesis, and episode one would be chapter 1. This way you will see 66 seasons. https://www.hiawathabible.org/the-esv-audio-bible

The illuminations of The Saint John's Bible have delighted many with their imaginative takes on Scripture. But many struggle to appreciate the calligraphy more deeply than merely noting its beauty. Does calligraphy mean something? How is it beautiful? This book, written by a biblical scholar who has spent years working with this Bible, shows how calligraphic art powerfully interplays visual form, textual content, and creative process. Homrighausen proposes five lenses for this artform: gardens, weaving, pilgrimage, touching, and enfleshing words. Each of these lenses springs from the poetry of the Song of Songs, its illuminations in The Saint John's Bible, and medieval ways of understanding the scribe's craft. While these metaphors for calligraphic art draw from this particular illuminated Bible, this book is aimed at all lovers of calligraphy, art, and sacred text. Jonathan Homrighausen, a doctoral candidate in Hebrew Bible at Duke University, teaches in Judaic Studies at the College of William & Mary. His research explores the intersection of Hebrew Bible, calligraphic art, and scribal craft. He is the author of Illuminating Justice: The Ethical Imagination of The Saint John's Bible (Liturgical Press, 2018) and articles in Religion and the Arts, Image, Teaching Theology and Religion, Transpositions, and Visual Commentary on Scripture.

Liz has a revelatory conversation with Dr. Brian Simmons, the lead translator of The Passion Translation Bible. Dr. Brian shares about a profoundly impactful encounter he experienced twenty years ago in which he was taken up to the heavenly realm and was shown the particular importance of two books of the Bible: Song of Songs and Revelation. It is through our revelation of these two books that we are able to unlock the secrets of our journey as the Bride of Christ. The blissful, eternal union of us with our Bridegroom is the passion of God's heart. Take up your position to co-reign with Him, and live in that place of oneness with His heart.
If we are going to swim God's direction in this downstream culture, people will think that we are odd. They will have all kinds of choice words to describe us. We need to have this expectation in life, and we need to give our kids this expectation as well. If our children stay true to God's Word and God's standard, our culture will not celebrate them. In fact, our culture will accuse and may even cancel them. Other Christians may accuse and cancel them. But that's ok. We stand in good company when we are accused and canceled for our faith. This episode is the first in a series on being a counter-cultural Christian. In order to do that, we need to (1) stay grounded in the Word, and (2) draw inspiration from those who swam upstream before us. In this first installment, Catherine gives some practical tips and lots of Biblical inspiration to help us swim upstream in our downstream culture. This week on The Neon Eon, I'm joined by country music superstar Sara Evans. We talk about breaking into the industry and forming her sound, embracing her Missouri roots and singing songs about small-town life, writing and/or recording massive hits like "Suds in the Bucket," "Born to Fly," and "A Real Fine Place to Start," why country music thrived when unique and distinct accents and voices were supported on radio, album deep cuts, and why she felt it was essential to record songs like Lori McKenna's "Bible Song" early in her career.Like and Follow The Neon Eon on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Patreon. In this episode, Nate Claiborne talks with Dr. Mike Allen about the history of interpretation of Song of Songs. While our modern impulse might be to reserve Song of Songs for teaching on sex and marriage, most Christians have treated it as primarily about hour relationship with God. Dr. Allen explains why this is the case and traces early Jewish and Christian readings up through the Puritans. He helps us to see how some of the more awkward parts for modern people (e.g. the physical descriptions the lovers have for each other) are actually a way that we can see the gospel in Song of Songs in a way that is not presented elsewhere in Scripture.
In this episode, Nate Claiborne and Benjamin Kandt discuss reading Song of Songs devotionally. Ben highlights some of his journal entries from Song of Songs 2 & 3. If you missed the introduction to Song of Songs, you can listen to that episode here. The translation by Robert Alter that Ben mentioned (and that we will keep referencing) is available either in his 3 volume Old Testament set, or as part of his Strong as Death is Love, which includes Ruth, Esther, Jonah, and Daniel. Nate would recommend interested readers check out Iain Duguid's commentary on Song of Songs which is very helpful for Christ-centered devotional reading. Ben recommends these lectures from Michael Reeves (whom he mentioned).
In this episode, Nate Claiborne and Josh Kessler discuss Song of Solomon, or Song of Songs. On the one hand, it ancient Hebrew love poetry. On the other hand, it is part of Scripture and should be read in light of Christ. Doing this well will require attentive readers to read it both in its ancient context and its ultimate Christian context as well.

What is scripture? If it is purely revelation and inspiration from a higher power or source energy beyond our understanding. Consider that it's the higher consciousness we can access from our alone time in prayer and meditation with God. With that being said how come if we are spending time along with God, gaining revelation and understanding than why aren't we writing our own scripture? I'll have you consider your daily journal is the single most effective tool for you to connect to a higher power, access revelations beyond your comprehension and to expand your being daily. I have created 2 journal tools to help you do just that 1.) The Wonder of a positive Moment 2.) The Wonder of negative experiences If you want access to these tools so you can begin to journal and in as little as 10 minutes a day experience these higher level revelations and pluck out your worldy triggers for yourself feel free to message me directly on Instagram or Facebook @Jasonbgodoy Or you can email me at jasonbgodoy@outlook.com Just say "I am ready to write my own scripture!" If you aren't ready to write your own scripture but you know someone who might be please share this with them as a gift to help them expand their being and access the higher consciousness within themselves. Have a woderful day for you are the wonder in the world! Go out and write scripture because it may be the most wonderful scripture ever written! About this episode We’re recording this at a time when many people are still living with some form of stay-at-home orders. Others can go out, but aren’t sure if it’s safe. But even beyond the current crisis, lots of couples face challenges to enjoying a regular “date night.” Money may be tight, they may not have childcare, or they may be too tired to figure out what to do. So today we’re going to talk about date nights for challenging times, whatever your challenge may be. These are simply ways to plan some fun with your spouse – at home or in your community – that don’t cost a lot of money and don’t take a lot of time and energy. I’m sorry that the quality of the recording isn’t the greatest. I couldn’t figure out how to get rid of the annoying hum – not to mention my singing is FAR from anything great. I recorded this because one of my relatives is trying to learn the books of the Bible, and I figured that this song might help him learn them more easily. Beyond that, this simple song can benefit anyone else who might stumble upon this podcast. I didn’t record any intro or outro along with the song, so that if anyone who downloads this want to run it on a loop can, without having their memorization attempts distracted by my narrative. My history behind this is song is this… When I was a kid my mother wanted to teach my brother & I the books of the Bible so we could follow along whenever scripture was read to us. So, instead of listening to the radio while she was driving us around from place to place in her car, she would sing this song to us over & over again and would encourage us to sing along with her. Eventually, we picked it up and were able to sing the whole song together. After that, I was able to win a bunch of the Sword drills we used to have when I was in AWANAs as a kid and I didn’t have to take the time to memorize them for my Bible class at school as I already knew this song. To this day, when I’m looking up a verse, or opening up to a specific passage of scripture in Church or wherever, I still sing this song in my head as I’m turning pages to pinpoint the book. This song has served me well over the years. I would personally recommend burning this song to CD and playing it in your car whenever. Speaking from experience, it’s a real easy way to learn. Thank you Jesus for giving me a mother that took the time to teach me the books of the Bible. I pray this song will help all who listen. Until next time [God willing]. Thanks for listening.
