To love is to give, to pour yourself out without reservation. But how do we do that without burning out or losing ourselves in the process? In this visit, we'll talk about how Jesus teaches us to love sacrificially, and how a woman rooted in Him can offer her life generously—and joyfully.Come if you're feeling stretched thin and need a reminder of why your love matters. Where is God calling you to be poured out right now, and how can you lean on His strength to do it?Join us for The Weekly Visit every Tuesday at 1 pm ET on the BIS Member Community!
Almighty and eternal God, you have given us faith to affirm the glory of the eternal Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and yet worship you as One. Keep us firm in this faith and safe with you forever. For you live and reign, One God, now and forever. Amen.

Today, we celebrate the birth of the church, Universal. The Holy spirit launches the message of Christ into the world through a newly empowered people. It has been the case through the early church, the two greatest celebrations, first being Easter, the second being Pentecost, which may surprise some, has somewhat become culturally invisible, at least amongst protestants. May we change that. Please join with me in prayer for the reading of God's word. God, our helper, by your Holy

Poured Out // Week 1 // Who Is The Holy Spirit?1. Spirit of TruthJohn 14:17; 15:26 NIV17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.26 “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.2. The Holy SpiritEphesians 1:13b-14 NLTAnd when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. 14 The Spirit is God's guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.HE IS HOLY.Holy: “set apart...sanctified...sacred...consecrated… or dedicated completely”Ephesians 4:30 NLT30 And do not bring sorrow to God's Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.Romans 8:1-4 NIVTherefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.3. The Spirit of GodGenesis 1:2 & 26a NIV2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likenessJob 33:4 NIVThe Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.Romans 8:14 NIV14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

Through a study of the book of Acts, we're asking the Spirit conform us to the patterns and practices of the early church — a people who love the lost like Jesus, give of themselves in rhythms of blessing and hospitality, and who seek to engage in curious, spiritual, and gospel conversations. We want the Spirit to do an Acts 1-2 kind of work, fulfilling Jesus's promise in Acts 1.8: You will receive power, and you will be my witnesses. What is our role? To believe the Great Commission is for each of us and all of us together, to receive the Spirit in personal and corporate prayer and dependence, and to actively prepare for whatever opportunities the Spirit creates to bear witness to Jesus.

This morning, our Outreach Director, Drew Paulette, guided us through the third week of our Pentecost Moment series. We are living in the age of the Holy Spirit. From Pentecost to today, the Spirit — the third person of the Trinity — has come to dwell in us. And while it's easy to focus on what the Spirit means for us individually, Drew reminded us that God poured out His Spirit for His Church and for His Mission. Where the fire of God's presence was once distant and inaccessible, it now resides within each believer. That fire empowers us to carry God's mission into a dark world, lighting it up through the proclamation of the good news. This mission isn't just for pastors, evangelists, seminary grads, or those who seem naturally gifted — it's for all of us, empowered by the Spirit, called to carry the light of Christ into the world.
In a special Mother's Day message, Pastor Mike Haman encourages us that when we live a life poured out before God, He will do miracles with our emptiness, need, and faith. God can always do more.

Just after midnight in a quiet UK neighborhood, 59-year-old Corinna Smith ran to her neighbor's house, screaming that she thought she had killed her husband, Michael Baine. Minutes later, police found 81-year-old Michael Baines in bed, whimpering in pain, his skin peeling from severe burns. What unfolded was a story of grief, shocking allegations, and a horrifying act of vengeance. In today's episode, we're covering the disturbing case of Corinna Smith—a wife, a mother, and a woman pushed to the edge after learning devastating claims about the man she'd been married to for nearly 40 years. What made her pour boiling sugar water over her sleeping husband? And what did the court decide when the truth was more complicated than it seemed?Listen as we break down how this case of betrayal, trauma, and rage turned deadly.Poll Question: Should a history of emotional trauma or shocking revelations be considered a valid reason to reduce a murder charge to manslaughter?*************************************************************************************************Do you have thoughts about this case, or is there a specific true crime case you'd like to hear about? How should we respond when we read of God's wrath in Scripture? Revelation 16 confronts us with the sobering reality of divine judgment, but it also reminds us of the matchless grace found in Christ. In this sermon, Pastor Mark walks us through the seven bowls of wrath in Revelation 16, highlighting their precision, their connections to the Old Testament, and the escalating call to repentance. God's judgment is never random or excessive—it is measured, just, and righteous. And in contrast to the hard-heartedness described in this passage, we are invited to humble ourselves before the Lord and find shelter in the grace of Jesus.

Sometimes Holy Week can feel like an afterthought. We spend all of Lent looking forward to Easter, just wanting to hurry through this final week to get to the “good stuff.” But we need to remember: there is no Easter without Good Friday. There is no resurrection without the suffering and death. Take a moment to realize that Christ died for you. Even if you were the only person on the planet, He still would have embraced His cross. Don't overlook Holy Week. It's where the transformation takes place. Join us in the pew to reflect on the divine love story of Holy Week. Pastor Kirk Owens continues with our study of the book of John and the Who is Jesus? series, and as we look at John 19:31-37 he shares 3 observations:1) When Jesus seems to be messing up our plans or holiday... we need to let Him. He is the only One who can clean up our mess.2) When we trust in Jesus and believe in Him and His promises... pain and dark trials come... keep clinging to Him and His promises.3) Jesus' prophesies and promises clearly point us to Him as the Passover Lamb. All this and so much more... Why? So that you may believe and have life in His name... the name of Jesus!
