Episode 277: Showing Humility when You Bomb with Sumukh Torgalkar (SiriusXM's Laugh USA)Stand Up Comedian Sumukh Torgalkar has found his recipe for comedy success by adapting comedy to his life, not by doing the opposite. Sumukh believes that you have to incorporate stand-up into what you like to do, and for him, that means creating helpful content for people. He does stand-up comedy the way he wants to do it - in other words, he isn't trying to measure success on another person's terms. Like all comics on the Art of Bombing podcast, he tells host Dan Bublitz Jr about a time when he ate it - at a birthday party! Dan and Sumukh talk about how to maintain your love for comedy, do comedy the way you want to do it, measure success on your terms, and suppress bitterness when you're vulnerable on stage. Sumukh began as a stand-up comedian in Columbus, Ohio, and helped organize numerous comedy festivals and independent shows which led him to be labeled one of Columbus Alive‘s “People to Watch.” After 4 wonderful years in L.A., he now lives in the mountains of northern Colorado. He tours the country performing anywhere from independent stages to comedy clubs to colleges to corporate events all while accomplishing what one audience member described as “the impossible task of being funny to a group of people ranging from their early 20s to their 80s.” He can be heard on SiriusXM's Laugh USA radio station. http://www.sumukhcomedy.com/https://twitter.com/sumukhcomedyhttps://www.instagram.com/sumukhcomedyhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3sFhoAWQoqx5HQt6tuLSTwArt of Bombing:"Nobody Had a Podcast Called The Art of Bombing" Theme by John HultBumpers provided by Joe Nicola MusicWebsite: https://www.artofbombingpod.com/Merch: https://art-of-bombing-pod.creator-spring.com/Buy us a coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/aobpodFB: https://www.facebook.com/artobpodcast/Twitter: @artofbombingpodInstagram: @artofbombingpodTwitch: @artofbombingpodYouTube: Art of Bombing PodcastDan Bublitz Jr: http://www.danbublitz.com/Josh Shirley: http://www.joshshirleycomedy.com

I spent a couple of years on the Columbus comedy circuit as a stand-up before I discovered my love for performing video and sketch comedy (which find their way into my life in small doses these days.) While in this scene I learned of Sumukh. His mild-mannered delivery drew me in, and he quickly became one of my local favorites. He always carried an air of distinction and charm; he struck me as the level-headed deeper thinking comedian in a room full of cheap beer-pounding knuckleheads. Since leaving comedy I've followed along with Sumukh's journey on social media where I read his essays on his sobriety and the changes that could be made to the comedy scene. Sumukh takes comedy seriously which is why he's been good at it for so long. While I'm no longer in the back hall during an open mic cracking jokes with Sumukh I'm lucky to have him in running, sobriety, and light-hearted conversation. Thank you, Sumukh! Sumukh Torgalkar is a stand-up comedian who resides in the mountains of Northern Colorado after having lived in Columbus and Los Angeles. He performs anywhere from independent stages to comedy clubs to colleges to corporate events. Tracks from his album are played regularly on SiriusXM's Laugh USA and subscribe to his YouTube channel (youtube.com/SumukhTorgalkar) to help grow his mild popularity. Founded in 2016, the mission of Ben's Friends is to offer hope, fellowship, and a path forward to anyone who struggles with substance abuse or addiction. By coming together, starting a dialogue, and acknowledging that substance abuse cannot be overcome by isolation and willpower alone, Ben's Friends hopes to write a new chapter in the lives of food and beverage professionals across the country. Comedian Sumukh Torgalkar (Sirius XM Laugh USA) has had quite a few boring jobs, but somehow he's managed to spice it up by either adding mayonnaise, befriending future wrestling superstars, or quitting after one week. His stint in the dark trenches of Subway never prepared him for the Dust-Bowl purgatory that was delivering phone books to the Greater Cleveland metropolitan area during one fateful summer he wishes he could forget. Nick and Chase find gainful employment opportunities with a $1,000 sign on bonus for a humble pizza delivery driver, and the unpaid opportunity of a lifetime ruining a 24-year-old's birthday party with anywhere between one to 16 clowns.
