In this riveting episode, we delve deep into the fascinating story of 'The Expendables'. We uncover the story of a convoluted German intelligence operation during World War II that ineptly attempted to infiltrate Scotland with spies. The episode discusses the key players in this operation, including the enigmatic figure, Vera Erickson. We learn that the mission was a complete disaster, marked by incompetence and desperate measures. Vera, a beautiful and manipulative woman, is highlighted as one who deftly navigates the convoluted web of espionage. Our co-host, Tom, undertakes a detailed cold case review of the operation, identifying key failures and fantastical elements that seem almost too absurd to be true. In the end, listeners are left considering the calamity of the operation, the mysterious nature of Vera Erickson, and the broader context of intelligence operations during World War II.You can buy the books mentioned in the podcast's by clicking the links belowTom's Best Selling Book:Ruxton: The First Modern Murder Paperback EditionRuxton: The First Modern Murder Kindle EditionSimon's Best Selling Book:The Ten Percent Paperback EditionThe Ten Percent Kindle Edition Hosted on Acast. Help NinetyForChill: The #Podcast get away from paywalls by subscribing to "Ninety For Chill: The Podcast with CatBusRuss". Over the past year, there have been a few movies that CatBusRuss has recorded his thoughts about, but did not have the right episode to place them on. With films that peak his interests starting to roll out, will there be a place for these forgotten segments? "Saw X" was a film that our host would not miss opening weekend for, but from speaking to potential guests for the show, he might be one of the few that are excited for this sequel. So a little variety in gory features might be needed to make this episode interesting for everyone. This week, the man who flunked logic, calculus, and data structures in the same semester decides to take a swing at cinema math. "Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth" and "The Expendables 2" were two flicks he skipped publishing the prior week. They were meant for that weeks "Expend4bles" podcast. Russ's plan was to find a fifth entry to a franchise to round out that episode, but he just now got his hands on a copy of "Hellraiser: Inferno". So, to get to the number 10 this week, the sum of the sequels mentioned get multiplied by a part of Ally's Accessories Shop on Etsy's Trash Feature Revue, "Puppet Master II". X=(III+II)II or 10=(3+2)2. At least he did not try to tie these movies to "The Number 23".
“I know that your Snicket is quite lemony” The Panel of Peril go in, guns ablazin', taking out bad guy after bad guy before arriving at the final boss: a television screen showing this week's film The Expendables 2 (Simon West, 2012). A truly all-star cast – including Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jean Claude Van Damme, Jet Li and Scott Adkins – assemble, as team of mercenaries The Expendables return to try and foil Jean Villain's scheme to sell off a load of plutonium and upset the balance of the world. Can Barney and the gang stop the dastardly arms dealers before the world is changed forever? Watch the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ip_CYHdyUBs ********PLOT SPOILER ALERT******** Villain's real mistake was killing Liam Hemsworth Expendable, of course. Driven by a thirst for revenge, his old team are in a race against time to both halt the sale of weapons grade plutonium plus track, find and kill Villain. Hopefully with enough time left for a few bevvies and chuckles afterwards? Did the panel enjoy this week's cinematic serving? Could they find a way to improve the villainous plan? And who will be named this week's most diabolical (person/podcast((er)))?

We're back! and so are the Expendables.
This month Charlie has taken it upon himself to declare July the "Month of Action", horror always gets its spotlight in October so he decided that action needed a spotlight as well. And what better way to kick it off than to pick a movie with as many action stars as possible... Expendables 2!!!! But Charlie wasn't done there because he also brought a special guest this week, Eoin from The Action Elite (actionelite.com) to help ring in this newly appointed month. Listen along as Charlie compares the movie to an 'R' rated GI Joe film and how Nate and Eoin team up against Charlie with their critiques about certain aspects of the movie. Its a fun time as we get to enjoy watching our hero's all together on the big screen larger than life!!!

On this week's episode, the Summer Blockbuster Extravaganza continues with the guys talking about the over-the-top sequel, The Expendables 2! How great is this cold open? Why did they insist on jamming all those 'cute' nostalgia lines into the script? And why do these kinds of movies treat Eastern Europe like some sort of eerie, faceless, Bermuda Triangle-type place? We romanticize a couple of action movie sequels by pretending they're love stories. Rob's got a recap of Expendables 2 that might involve old meatman Stallone falling big head over feet in love with the beautiful JCVD. Ellen's got the story of some T-rexes in love over on apparently a second dinosaur island in The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Crack open one of them leftover holiday wines and enjoy. Keep an eye out next month for the first episode of Dollar Theater Double Feature, Rob's new solo show that'll appear right here on the MMADF feed. He's gonna talk about a couple of Claudia Jennings exploitation movies: The Great Texas Dynamite Chase & Unholy Rollers. At low-effort content—where okay is okay—we make stuff and share it with you to celebrate life with curiosity, creativity, and compassion...kind of...sometimes. You can contact us & buy our coffee mugs and things. And you can listen to our shows: Make Mine a Double Feature, where Rob & Ellen have a few drinks and tell each other movie stories in all kinds of ways—like backwards or in the form of letters or from the POV of a side character. Kid. Dad. Songs. Yeah!, where Rob & Felix talk about music. Trivial Television, where Ellen & Rob recap TV episodes while sprinkling in facts, fictions, and trivia questions. Booyah 90s Now, where Rob & Joe break down what it's been like to live under the influence of 90s media. Thanks for hanging out. Take care.
