Die wahren Podstocks sind die Podstocks, die wir verloren haben. Nicht verloren wie einen Autoschlüssel oder einen Waschlappen, den man nach zwei Übernachtungen über dem Handtuchhalter hängen lässt, sondern verloren in dieser besonderen Weise, in der etwas wundervoll Schönes, kurz nachdem es in einem Zimmer unseres Lebens geschehen ist, schon in ein anderes Zimmer hinübergeht. Einen Moment lang steht die Türe noch einen Spalt offen, dann schließt sie sich. Dort sitzt es dann neben dem Geschmack eines asiatischen Gemüsecurrys, dem metallischen Geruch einer Wunderkerze, dem warmen Klang einer Gitarre und dem Atem einer Küche um zwei Uhr nachts, und wartet, bis ein Geruch, ein Lied oder ein Schluck Mate es wieder aufweckt. Ich glaubte, Podstock sei ein Wochenende gewesen. Zwei Nächte, ein Programm, ein quietschendes, unebenes Bett, ein Frühstück, zu dem man zu spät oder zu früh oder gar nicht kam, eine Bühne, Lieder, ein Heimweg im beheizten Autositz. Mais non. Erst später, zurück im gewohnten Zimmer des Lebens, wenn der Kalender wieder seine bunten Blöcke zeigt, die den Tag ordnen und zumauern, bis man dahinter nichts mehr erkennen kann und niemand mehr im Treppenhaus „Heute kann es regnen“ singt, verstehe ich, dass Podstock nicht dort war, wo ich es damals vermutete. Nicht in Damme, nicht im Zelthaus, nicht im Atrium. Es war in diesem kurzen Blick, den jemand mir zuwarf, getragen von einer Ahnung, dass gleich etwas sehr Schönes passieren würde. Und so wird die Erinnerung nicht grau, nicht traurig oder nostalgisch, solange man sie nicht presst, trocknet und einheftet. Man muss sie atmen lassen. Man darf von ihr zehren wie von einem kleinen Vorrat Licht: nicht, um die Gegenwart zu verdunkeln, sondern um sie besser auszuleuchten. Denn was vergangen ist, ist nicht fort. Es hat nur die Form gewechselt. Aus Blicken wurden Feuer, aus Gesprächen Wärme, aus Umarmungen Zuhause, aus Applaus Dankbarkeit, aus Udos Podcastpreis auf Papier eine kindliche Freude und aus einem Wochenende Flügel. Vielleicht ist das die eigentliche Kunst: nicht zurückzuwollen, sondern zu wissen, dass etwas so schön war, dass es in einem weiterarbeitet. Ohne Eintrittsbändchen. Aber mit einer liebevollen Gewissheit: Es war wirklich da. Und gerade weil es vorbei ist, gehört es uns auf eine Weise, die uns die Zeit niemals nehmen kann. Und vielleicht ist das Schönste an einer Erinnerung, die nicht versucht, festzuhalten, sondern trägt: dass sie uns nicht zurückzieht, sondern nach vorn. Zum nächsten Podstock. Nils hälsar på för att prata om några skräckfilmer som snurrar på temat krig. I ordinarie delen av avsnittet pratar vi om Rovdjuret och Overlord från 1987 respektive 2018. Nils reagerar på den relativt låga kameran i Rovdjuret och låter sig imponeras av hur otroligt smakfullt vi som publik presenteras för antagonisten och hur det genom hela filmen bjuds på något nytt. Tomas noterar att filmen är enormt maskulin men lyckas inte se några problem med det och gläds åt eftertexterna där skådespelarna ler in i kameran. Gulligt! Det blir också en del prat om Vietnam-estetik, illröda lik, apor i dräkt, Jean Claude van Damme, Stan Winston, specialeffekter, svett och det faktum att nazi-ockultism kan kännas lite lite sexigt. Patrons åtnjuter i vanlig ordning dubbel speltid och denna gång blir det betydligt mer psykologiskt utmanande i och med en double feature om krigets dystra efterspel. Mycket nöje!

Weil wir gerade so gut im Stoff stehen, widmen wir dem Don Wilson ohne Pause gleich eine weitere Folge, in der wir zwei eher urban angesiedelte Actionthriller der frühen 90er unter die Lupe nehmen. "Blackbelt" und "Out For Blood" erinnern stärker an die Seagal-Kracher der gleichen Zeit als an van Damme, womit sie sich auch thematisch sinnvoll von den "Bloodfist Fightern" der letzten Episode abheben. Send us a textOne piece of misinformation that has been around for a long time is the idea that strength training workouts need to be…LONG!  And I mean HOURS long…I fell for this myself in my younger days.  I mean, if 1 hour of intense workout exercises is good, well, 2 hours is even better, right?  And the big one: if 3 workouts per week is enough for Steve Reeves and his ilk, well why not be like Arnold and Zane, and workout 6 days per week, sometimes twice per day!  This is all sad, and ridiculous, really.  Especially for average people, who don't want to win bodybuilding contests, but just want to be strong and healthy for a lifetime!  I remember reading about Jean Claude von Damme, and how he worked out 6 hours per DAY!!  What a joke, really…I'm here to give you a liberating philosophy of strength training:  You can reach your ultimate potential, and train for your whole life long, by training for 20 to 30 minutes, 2 to three times per week!  Really.  I now train my lower body one day for about that long, and my upper body for the same time frame.  I train, skip a day, and then train again.  My weights and gymnastic rings are all set up in my basement, and I just walk downstairs, and start working…Very convenient, quickly done, and very productive!  Today, for instance, I took off two days between workouts, since leg training sometimes is more draining than upper body.  No matter; I just try to feel how I am recovering, and judge accordingly.  It really is surprising to learn that, when you workout really intensely, a short duration is really all you need, and really all your body can stand!  An intense stimulation of the targeted musculature must necessarily be brief, and is all that you really need or want.Just as you don't need a ton of food to grow and recover, you don't need a TON of exercise to stimulate gains!  Just make sure that the food you do eat is mainly protein, meat, eggs, cheese and seafood, and you will be very strong and healthy…Supplements are good too, so take vitamin D, magnesium and potassium, vitamin C and you will have all you need to grow, thrive, and be super healthy and strong!!That is really all there is to it!  It's really not that complicated, my friends.My only qualification is that I also work out every morning, first thing, for about an hour…But that is my joy and pleasure- working out in front of the television, mainly with stretching and virtual resistance exercises, that feel amazing and make you like a cat, twisting and stretching to make you supple, and feel like you are a free creature of the jungle!  You learn to use the muscles you build strength training like a feline, feeling alive in your body, injury free and vital!To me, that is the ultimate, lifelong goal of physical culture.Support the show

Het mediapanel heeft met verbazing gekeken naar 'De Jongen Zonder Gisteren'. Niet alleen vanwege het bizarre verhaal - hij raakt op 21-jarige leeftijd zijn gehele geheugen kwijt - maar vooral ook vanwege de nogal aanwezige Ivo Niehe. Een tandje minder had gemogen, aldus TV columniste Angela de Jong die aan de kop van de podcast vertelt dat ze net bij de tandarts vandaan komt, vanwege het verliezen van een stuk tand. De mannen van Vandaag Inside zitten om de tafel met John de Mol. Angela de Jong: ‘Als ik Wilfred Genee één tip mag geven voor de onderhandeling met John de Mol dan is het dit!’ (Luister voor het antwoord naar de podcast!) Our guest for Episode 3 of S7 is Ify Okoye. British Nigerian, Ify Okoye is a trained lawyer and a former policy adviser in the Home Office and Department for Education. She left the Civil Service last year to recover from Long Covid, having first contracted Covid in November 2021. Ify has caring responsibilities for her elderly mother and is currently cat fostering as part of Cats Protection's Lifeline scheme. During the course of her treatment for Long Covid, Ify was diagnosed last year as being autistic. Ify has a passion for cats, the works of Jean Claude van Damme, films and music from the 1980s and 90s, and she has recently discovered the joys of crochet. Een hoofdrol in de film ‘Paradijs' geldt als de meest recente toevoeging aan Ten Damme's oeuvre. ‘Paradijs' zal worden gedraaid als slotfilm van het Nederlands Film Festival.
