Trump and his Sec of State Marco Rubio crowing about a “hostage rescue” operation in Venezuela to bring opposition party leaders opposed to the brutal Maduro Regime, only proves the point that Venezuela is a dangerous country that 100s of thousands of Venezuelans in the US given Temporary Protective Status by the Biden Administration should not be returned to. Michael Popok explores the revelations in the last 24 hours in the form of an unclassified memo and Rubio's bragging about how dangerous Venezuela is, that will blow the doors off of the Administration's attempt to defend their decision to end TPS for Venezuela because everything is really fine there. We're only a few years into the Biden Administration, but federal immigration policy under his leadership is impacting communities heavily. In this episode, we focus on two stories about how the US is wielding immigration policy – First, a real plan on the table to house detained and undocumented migrants in the notorious Guantanamo Bay prison. Then we'll talk about a specific policy called Temporary Protective Status, that is being seen in court after the Trump Administration basically threw it out.  Our guest is Gaby Del Valle, a freelance immigration journalist who has reported for the Nation, VICE, and the Daily Beast among others; Gaby co-authors an illuminating weekly newsletter about immigration policy called BORDER/LINES. Jackson Women's Health Organization. The ERLC and other pro-life organizations filed an amicus brief in this case urging the Supreme Court to overturn the disatrous Roe v. Wade decision. Members of our team also joined pro-life advocates on the steps of the Supreme Court when oral arguments were heard last December. As we approach the Supreme Court's final decision in June of this year, it's important for Christians to pray for this landmark case and begin preparing our churches to serve vulnerable women and children in a potential post-Roe world. But for many, this case is confusing and wrapped in a lot of legal jargon. Haiti's political unrest and constitutional crisis have been a fixture of news about the country for the last several years. As Haitians continue to leave an environment of violence and repression, the United States has been one of the primary destinations for these vulnerable migrants. In an attempt to assist Haitians in their transition to life in the United States, the Biden administration extended Temporary Protective Status to migrants from Haiti on May 24. To understand why the Biden administration turned to TPS, it is essential to examine the conditions that Haitians experienced at home which led them to migrate. Today on the podcast, Grace and Natasha discuss the political, economic, and social unrest in Haiti and also examine the relationship between Haiti and the United States in recent history. With a deeper understanding of the identities and experiences of Haitian migrants, they also suggest actions that may alleviate the short- and long-term problems driving the immigration crisis. Consider donating to Haitian Women for Haitian Refugees and Haitian Bridge Alliance, who are working towards providing long-term solutions.  Read more: https://novelhand.com/haitian-migrants-tps/

Historically, the United States has been a beacon of hope, and the symbol of opportunity and the chance for a new life to immigrants. From Pilgrims seeking religious freedom in the 1600s, to those seeking opportunity during the early 19th century, and most recently, those seeking asylum from war and violence-stricken countries. Over the last several months, we have seen acts at our executive level of government, which have been interpreted as anti-immigrant. On this episode, we discuss some of the social implications of the current administration’s actions, including cancellation of Temporary Protective Status, construction of the wall on the southern border and banning visitors from certain countries and religions.
