In this Monday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, Bryan breaks down the near-collapse of the Trump Iran Peace Deal as Tehran pulls out of negotiations, announces its intent to pursue a nuclear weapon, and reasserts control over the Strait of Hormuz through drone strikes and missile exchanges with US forces. With the Middle East on edge, Bryan also covers a historic framework peace agreement signed between Lebanon and Israel, both united in pushing Iran and Hezbollah out of the region, while Hezbollah vows civil war in response. On the home front, Bryan tracks the widening civil war inside the Democrat Party as avowed Marxists rack up electoral wins and party leadership fractures over how to respond, with Trump calling it the most serious threat to the country in 250 years. Bryan also addresses a Washington Post analysis finding that AI chatbots carry political bias and should not be used as fact-checkers. Plus, Ukraine's drones pound Russian refineries and infrastructure in what Kyiv calls "Ukraine's sanctions," Germany's military recruitment disaster forces a reckoning with mandatory service, and Texas researchers find a promising gut bacteria connection for lupus patients. Silicon Bites SW26-217 | 2026-06-24 | Zelensky stops asking Lukashenko to stay out of the war — and starts counting down to the moment Ukraine removes the equipment Russia has placed on their territory to harm Ukraine, for him. He has been warned, but this warning also demonstrates a more muscular and confident approach from Ukraine. They are they only one globally who have shown the will and capacity to constrain and contain Russia and deliver consequences for its aggression. There is a clock counting down in Minsk now. It started on Friday. For four years and four months, the West has treated Alexander Lukashenko as a bystander to this war. A nervous neighbour. A man who lent Putin his territory once, in February 2022, watched the missiles fly out of his own country into Ukrainian apartment blocks, and then phoned Kyiv to apologise and explain it wasn't really his fault. The bystander narrative has been very convenient — for Lukashenko, for Moscow, and for every Western capital that would rather not think about NATO's longest land border with a hostile state, a willing puppet of the Kremlin's ambitions. ----------ACTIVE CAMPAIGN:We are raising funds for 5 of 15 Vampire DronesSilicon Curtain for Kupiansk Vampires. In this episode of Battleground Ukraine, Saul David and Julius Strauss check in from the bustling Kyiv Railway Station after completing a train journey from Kharkiv. Despite ongoing Russian infrastructure attacks that have heavily impacted the national grid, Ukraine's rail network continues to prove itself as the resilient, indispensable artery keeping the country moving in wartime. The hosts explore how Ukraine's railways have defied Western calls for "efficiency rationalisation"—revealing how their old-school, deep-reserve structure has actually saved them from collapse. They also examine Russia's evolving, aggressive strategy of targeting critical civilian infrastructure and how it measures up against international law. Diving Deep on Ukraine's Anti-Corruption BattleIn the second half of the episode, the hosts sit down after their remarkably candid conversation with Executive Director of Transparency International Ukraine - Andrii Borovyk to unpack the high-stakes battle against internal corruption—a fight critical to Ukraine's aspirations of joining the European Union. Key highlights from their discussion include:The Corruption Perception Index: Where Ukraine stands globally, its notable progress since 2014, and how it dramatically compares to Russia. The Midas Scandal & Zelenskyy's Report Card: A look at the $100 million kickback scheme that rocked the administration, the subsequent firing of top advisor Andriy Yermak, and how the expert grades Ukraine's past and present leaders on crushing corruption. No One Above the Law: Why addressing wartime corruption cannot wait until the conflict ends, even as sectors like customs, energy, and military conscription remain vulnerable. The Power of the EU carrot: How Ukraine's deep desire for EU membership serves as the ultimate external driver keeping the nation on its best behaviour. What's Coming Friday: Don't miss our next episode, featuring an exclusive, boots-on-the-ground report from friend of the show Boldi Gyori, who just spent a week in Kherson—arguably one of the most dangerous frontline cities in Ukraine right now.Julius Strauss writes the blog Back from the Front and also owns and runs Wild Bear Lodge, a bear-viewing lodge, in Canada. "History moves gradually, then suddenly."As Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine crosses a somber milestone—matching the exact duration of the First World War at 1,568 days—co-hosts Saul David and Patrick Bishop analyse what feels like a definitive "hinge moment" in the conflict. This week, the tide is turning rapidly in Ukraine's favour, driven by an extraordinary and relentless intermediate-range drone campaign that Russia seems entirely incapable of combating. In part one of this deep dive, Saul and Patrick break down how Ukrainian drone pilots have effectively seized control of critical Russian supply lines, including the vital M14 highway, forcing the Kremlin into a logistical catastrophe. From frontline reports of Russian soldiers reduced to acting as supply mules to panic-buying and fuel rationing in occupied Crimea, the vital organs of the Russian war machine are under heavy fire. The hosts also examine the broader strategic landscape: Russia's deepening diplomatic isolation following pivotal elections in Armenia, the restructuring of Ukraine's armed forces into powerful army corps, and the geopolitical chess match behind President Zelenskyy's latest peace feelers. Good afternoon, I'm _____ with today's episode of EZ News. Tai-Ex opening The Tai-Ex opened up 184-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 43,687 on turnover of 22.7-billion N-T. The market recorded its third largest ever point decline on Monday as investors reacted to plunge on Wall Street last Friday as big artificial intelligence-related stocks fell. MND calls China Coast Guard patrols 'provocative' Defense Minister Wellington Koo is describing Chinese Coast Guard patrols in waters east of Taiwan as being a "provocative act." The statement comes after four Chinese ships, including three coast guard vessels, sailed into Taiwan's restricted waters 30-nautical miles southwest of the island's southern most tip on Sunday. The Coast Guard Administration dispatched seven if its vessels the area to warn away the Chinese ships. According to the defense minister, China's actions were a form of cognitive warfare, that was aimed at claiming Taiwan's eastern waters as belonging to Beijing - which shows serious disrespect for Taiwan's national sovereignty. MOJ seeking death for etomidate trafficking Justice Minister Cheng Ming-chien says his office is taking steps to reclassify etomidate, which is also known as "zombie vape." According to Cheng, the Narcotics Review Committee will hold talks next week, at which the drug could be upgraded from a Category 2 narcotic to Category 1 due to its potential for abuse. Cheng says if the committee agrees to reclassify the drug, those convicted of manufacturing, transporting or selling etomidate could face life in prison or the death penalty. The statements come after the National Police Agency recently reported that large numbers of people have been arrested for driving under the influence of etomidate in recent years. Premier Cho Jung-tai last week told reporters that authorities will be stepping up border inspections targeting the so called "zombie vapes." Ukraine Strikes Russian Oil Facilities Ukrainian forces have struck oil facilities in Russia and occupied Ukraine as part of their campaign to impose economic costs on Moscow. Ukrainian and Russian officials confirmed the attacks on Monday. Ukraine's President Zelenskyy has confirmed that Roman Abramovich acted as a mediator between Kyiv and Moscow, delivering messages from Russian President Putin. Russia's Defense Ministry reported shooting down 310 Ukrainian drones overnight. Meanwhile, Ukraine's General Staff said Ukrainian forces targeted Russia's Krasnodar Krai region and Crimea, sparking fires at oil facilities. Russian drone strikes injured civilians in several Ukrainian regions, including Kharkiv and Odesa. US Federal judge blocks Trump's $100,000 visas for high skilled workers A federal judge has blocked President Trump's policy of imposing (推行,強制實行) a $100,000 fee for H-1B visas - which are used to bring highly skilled workers to the United States. Germany Presidential Office Popup Art Show A pop-up art show featuring contemporary works is set to open at the German president's official residency this week before renovations (整修,裝潢) begin. Day 1,558.Today, as more civilians across Ukraine are murdered by Russia in the latest mass aerial attack we look to the US for a response, given Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio last week that Russia planned only to strike Ukrainian "decision-making centers". We ask, again, when the United Nations is going to take a meaningful interest in the war, and look at the continuing diplomatic spat between Ukraine and Poland. As the brutal conflict continues, Ukraine is fighting a war on multiple fronts—not just in the trenches, but internally within the corridors of power against a long-standing weapon of Kremlin information warfare: the accusation of irredeemable corruption. In this episode, hosts Saul David and Julius Strauss sit down in Kyiv with Andrii Borovyk, the executive director of Transparency International Ukraine, for a brutally honest assessment of where the country stands today. Borovyk pulls back the curtain on the Global Corruption Perception Index, exploring how Ukraine remarkably managed to stabilize and even improve its score during wartime—a feat virtually unheard of for a nation in conflict. The conversation dives deep into the high-stakes friction between wartime efficiency and democratic transparency, covering: The Reality of the Index: Exactly where Ukraine sits globally, how its score compares to neighbours like Hungary and Slovakia, and why the metric is about external perception rather than a direct measurement of ground-level corruption. The High-Stakes U-Turn: The dramatic, late-night political maneuvering surrounding a controversial bill aimed at bringing anti-corruption agencies under political control, the ensuing public protests, and the resulting erosion of international trust. Watchdogging under Fire: How Transparency International Ukraine operates on the policy and legislative levels, saves millions for the state budget through public procurement monitoring, and the institutional distrust surrounding agencies like the State Bureau of Investigations. The Leadership Report Card: A candid evaluation of Ukrainian leadership—from Yanukovych to Poroshenko and Zelenskyy—in their historical and current fights against corruption. The Path Forward: The heavy influence of international leverage (like the EU and IMF) on pushing reforms forward, and a sobering look at Ukraine's post-war future, demographic challenges, and shifting immigration needs. Julius Strauss writes the blog Back from the Front and also owns and runs Wild Bear Lodge, a bear-viewing lodge, in Canada. 2026-05-24 | UPDATES #206 | The shame of the USSR, an ecological and political disaster that precipitated its end. How a Soviet lie at reactor four killed tens of thousands — and then killed the USSR. There was a sentence spoken by a Ukrainian liquidator at the Chornobyl memorial ceremony that resonated. The man who said it is one of the dwindling number of survivors of the 600,000-strong liquidator force the Soviet Union mobilised between 1986 and 1990 to clean up after the worst civilian nuclear disaster in human history. He worked at the plant. He saw friends die. He retired early from disability. He returned this week, at his own expense, to honour the dead. And speaking to Al Jazeera at the foot of the liquidators' monument inside the exclusion zone, he said this:"In many ways, the independence of Ukraine was born on April 26, 1986, in Chornobyl. Without their heroism, an independent Ukraine might not even exist today."----------SUPPORT THE CHANNEL:https://www.buymeacoffee.com/siliconcurtainhttps://www.patreon.com/siliconcurtainhttps://www.gofundme.com/f/scaling-up-campaign-to-fight-authoritarian-disinformation----------ACTIVE CAMPAIGN:We are raising funds for 5 of 15 Vampire DronesSilicon Curtain for Kupiansk Vampires. 2026-05-17 | UPDATES #204 | This is the most genuinely shocking element of the four. Because Tulsi Gabbard's biolabs investigation is the formal validation, by the US intelligence apparatus itself, of what was officially classified as Kremlin disinformation in 2022.The chronology, captured across the New York Post, RT, the Pravda network, Newsweek, and the Wikipedia summary of the Ukraine bioweapons conspiracy theory:In March 2022, two weeks into Russia's full-scale invasion, the Russian Defence Ministry alleged that the United States was operating "secret biolabs" in Ukraine developing biological weapons. The claim was, at that point, comprehensively rejected by Western institutions. The Pentagon stated explicitly that its biological research in Ukraine focused on improving public health and agricultural safety. The New York Times described the Russian claim as "a baseless theory." NPR described it as "a lurid and difficult to believe claim." The Guardian, CBS News, Bloomberg, and others called it "a conspiracy theory." The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, the United Nations, the WHO, and Russian scientists themselves — including Russian scientists inside Russia — all rejected the bioweapons claim as Kremlin disinformation produced to retrospectively justify the invasion.----------SUPPORT THE CHANNEL:https://www.buymeacoffee.com/siliconcurtainhttps://www.patreon.com/siliconcurtainhttps://www.gofundme.com/f/scaling-up-campaign-to-fight-authoritarian-disinformation----------ACTIVE CAMPAIGN:We are raising funds for 5 of 15 Vampire DronesSilicon Curtain for Kupiansk Vampires. //The Wire//2300Z May 11, 2026// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: MASS SHOOTING REPORTED IN CAMBRIDGE. DIPLOMATIC EFFORTS TO END THE UKRAINE WAR CONTINUE. NO CHANGE TO SITUATION IN MIDDLE EAST.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE-----  -International Events-Europe: Following the Victory Day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, increased focus has been placed on ending the war. During the various VE Day celebrations and speeches, President Putin stated that he is willing to hold direct negotiations with Ukraine's Zelenskyy to seek a direct settlement to the war.Analyst Comment: Until a document is signed by all parties, this is just talk. However, this is the first time that Putin has indicated that he is willing to directly engage with Ukrainian leadership regarding a peace deal. The next stage would be for more direct talks to be scheduled at some point, now that the very basic starting point of negotiations seem to be within the realm of reason by both sides. Time will tell, though.-HomeFront-Massachusetts: This afternoon a shooting was reported in Cambridge near the intersection of River Street and Memorial Drive. One suspect (who has not yet been identified) reportedly engaged passing cars with a rifle, targeting vehicles seemingly at random. The suspect was eventually engaged by police, which resulted in a small skirmish in the street. Eventually, the suspect was either apprehended or neutralized by police, bringing an end to the attack. During the engagement, two individuals were reportedly wounded, though this is a developing situation at the time of this report and details are hard to verify. More information is expected to follow this evening.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: The situation in the Middle East remains largely unchanged over the past 48 hours. Targeting efforts on all sides remain challenging to geolocate, as all belligerents are waging lower-level warfare and pretending as if munitions are not being exchanged. Merchant vessels (transiting the Strait either inbound or outbound) continue to be attacked by the Iranians, and the United States continues to strike Iranian gunboats sporadically. Overnight, one vessel was struck by unidentified projectile off the coast of Qatar, marking the first targeting effort this far from the Strait in a month, reminding the world that the entire Persian Gulf is an active warzone, not just the Strait itself. Within mainland Iran, explosions have been reported throughout the country over the weekend, from Qeshm Island, to the old reactor complex in Arak. Locals often don't provide much context for the incidents they observe, and counting exact engagements and munitions is very challenging due to many of these engagements also taking place on the high seas. However over the past few days a handful of targeting efforts have taken place, possibly as many as a couple of dozen incidents all total. More strategically, the hard to predict nature of the conflict has kept most western-aligned merchant traffic from attempting the transit. The only way for a merchant to clear the Strait without getting targeted by the Iranians, is to follow the Iranian instructions for passage. And if a merchant does just that, there's no guarantee that the Americans will allow them through their blockade anyway. The end result is prolonging the conflict, fuel prices climbing higher, with no talks or diplomatic efforts yielding any results.Analyst: S2A1 Research: https://publish.obsidian.md/s2underground Disclaimer: No LLMs were used in the writing of this report. //END REPORT//

Both nations are also developing combat satellites and weapon systems for use in lunar orbit.4/16: Alan Tonelson and Gordon Chang examine how the Iran war drives inflation and damages Asian manufacturing. China continues to flood markets with subsidized exports while using lawfare and harassment against smaller nations like Panama.5/16: Malcolm Hoenlein and Thaddeus McCotter report on escalating violence in the Gulf, including the sinking of IRGC boats. They also discuss Mahmoud Abbas's attempt to install his son, Yasser Abbas, as his political successor.6/16: Malcolm Hoenlein and Thaddeus McCotter warn that Iran is running out of oil storage, potentially forcing a production halt. Hezbollah is exploiting cheap FPV drones to harass Israeli forces, utilizing a low-tech method that lacks an effective counter.8/16: David Daoud explains the IDF was caught off guard by Hezbollah's innovative use of fiber-optic and FPV drones. Despite these threats, the Israeli public largely favors continuing military operations to secure borders.9/16: Bridget Toomey and Bill Roggio discuss Ali Al-Zadei, a businessman elevated to Iraqi Prime Minister with Iranian support. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Evolution of Ukrainian IdentityVolodymyr Zelenskyy, a Russian-speaking Jewish entertainer and businessman, represents a shift toward a civic Ukrainian identity rather than an ethnic one. His 2019 election victory was rooted in a desire for an outsider to fix the failing political system and find a path to peace with Moscow. Because of his background, Zelenskyy initially believed he could negotiate directly with Putin. His presidency highlights that being Ukrainian is now defined by a commitment to the state rather than language or religion, directly contradicting Putin's "one people" myth. Today's Headlines: Cole Tomas Allen was charged in federal court with attempting to assassinate President Trump plus two gun charges — more charges may be coming, and conviction alone could mean life in prison. Trump, meanwhile, has pivoted from brief media civility straight back to ballroom obsession, with Lindsey Graham leading the charge to get Congress to approve $400 million in taxpayer money for a White House ballroom-and-bunker — never mind that it wouldn't hold half as many people as the Washington Hilton it's meant to replace. The National Trust for Historic Preservation told the DOJ to go pound sand and is keeping its lawsuit blocking construction. Trump is also back gunning for Jimmy Kimmel's job over a joke that Melania has the glow of "an expectant widow" — Karoline Leavitt backed him up at the podium, Melania tweeted at Disney to "take a stand," and all of this happened four days after the joke aired. On the Iran front, Iranian officials sent a new proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz with either a long-term ceasefire or full peace deal, while punting nuclear negotiations to later — the White House hadn't responded as of this recording, and Iran's foreign minister was in Moscow meeting with Putin. King Charles is visiting Trump, with British officials doing everything possible to keep Charles out of Trump's infamous armchair photo sessions. Journalist Katie Phang sued acting AG Todd Blanche for failing to release the Epstein files as required by law — she's not seeking damages, just the documents the law already mandates. Gateway Computers founder and Ghislaine Maxwell ex-boyfriend Ted Waitt — the man who brought her as his plus-one to Chelsea Clinton's wedding — is testifying before Congress about his Epstein ties. Ron DeSantis proposed a Florida congressional map creating 24 Republican districts and just 4 Democratic ones, directly violating the Fair Districts Amendments that 63% of Floridians voted into their state constitution, and the legislature immediately scheduled a special session to ram it through. And Paramount filed an FCC petition requesting that foreign investors from Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar be allowed to indirectly own over 50% of the company post-merger — and asked for up to 100% foreign ownership approval for "future investments."
