    In this episode, we speak with Richard Tan, criminal defense attorney in Oakland about a lawsuit that challenges the unlawful arrest of Minister King X, a community organizer with California Prison Focus and All of Us or None (AOUON). Though the charges were dropped without a hearing, the arrest report describes him and others as “Black Identity Extremists” and “Black Supremacist Extremists” for his participation in a protest weeks before. On December 4, 2025, civil rights leaders will host a press conference outside the Robert T. Matsui U.S. Courthouse in advance of a hearing in King v. California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) for unconstitutional restrictions against freedom of speech and assembly that disproportionately impact Black and Brown people.     International Revolutionary Day with Chairman Fred Hampton Jr.

    International Revolutionary Day, marked each year on December 4th, is a day of remembrance and reflection on the radical struggle for liberation embodied by Fred Hampton and the Black Panther Party. His vision of collective power, rooted in socialism and Black liberation, challenged state violence and poverty, making him a target of government surveillance and repression. On December 4, 1969, Hampton was assassinated in a police raid coordinated with the FBI, a killing that galvanized movements worldwide. International Revolutionary Day stands as a tribute to his legacy—a reminder of the cost of revolutionary change and the enduring call for justice, community power, and liberation for oppressed people everywhere.     Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, formerly known as civil rights leader H. Rap Brown, is an American Muslim cleric and former Black Power activist whose life has spanned community organizing, political leadership, and later religious guidance. He died this week at the age of 82 in a correctional medical facility. We'll talk with Kalonji Changa and Dhoruba Bin Wahad about his legacy.  Kalonji Jama Changa is an organizer, founder of the FTP Movement, and the co-chair of the Urban Survival and Preparedness Institute and is co-founder of Black Power Media. He is also author of the bestselling book, “How to Build a People's Army” and co-producer of the documentary “Organizing is the New Cool.” Dhoruba bin Wahad is an American political activist and author, former leader of the New York Black Panther Party, and co-founder of the Black Liberation Army.     Sudan's brutal two-year war has entered a new phase. The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has seized control of the entire Darfur region, ousting the Sudanese army from its last stronghold. The conflict has killed over 40,000 people and displaced more than 14 million, creating a humanitarian crisis. The capture of el-Fasher, North Darfur's capital, raises fears of Sudan splitting again, nearly 15 years after South Sudan's independence. The RSF, led by Gen. Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, has roots in the Darfur genocide and has been accused of atrocities. Dagalo's forces have expanded their power and influence, leading to a power struggle with Sudan's army chief that plunged Sudan into war.     Crisis in Sudan w/ Rachel Savage from the Guardian

    Sudan's brutal two-year war has entered a new phase. The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has seized control of the entire Darfur region, ousting the Sudanese army from its last stronghold. The conflict has killed over 40,000 people and displaced more than 14 million, creating a humanitarian crisis. The capture of el-Fasher, North Darfur's capital, raises fears of Sudan splitting again, nearly 15 years after South Sudan's independence. The RSF, led by Gen. Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, has roots in the Darfur genocide and has been accused of atrocities. Dagalo's forces have expanded their power and influence, leading to a power struggle with Sudan's army chief that plunged Sudan into war.   We'll dive deep into this story on today's episode with Rachel Savage, the Guardian's southern Africa correspondent based in Johannesburg.     Hurricane Melissa Impacts Haiti w/ Pierre Labossiere from Haiti Action

    Hurricane Melissa is set to pummel Jamaica as a catastrophic Category 5 storm, the strongest to lash Jamaica since recordkeeping began 174 years ago. Forecasters said the storm is expected to make landfall early Tuesday and slice diagonally across the island, entering near St. Elizabeth parish in the south and exiting around St. Ann parish in the north. Hours before the storm, the government said it had done all it could to prepare as it warned of catastrophic damage. Prime Minister Andrew Holness said, “There is no infrastructure in the region that can withstand a Category 5. The question now is the speed of recovery. That's the challenge.” Hurricane Melissa is also impacting Haiti and surrounding island countries. We  speak with Pierre Labossiere. Pierre grew up in Haiti and co-founded the Haiti Action Committee in 1990.     October 22nd is the National Day of Protest to Stop Police Brutality. The day was established by the October 22 Coalition in 1996 and serves as a nationwide call to action against police violence and repression. Today, we speak with Dr. Melina Abudllah. Dr. Melina Dr. Melina Abdullah is a professor and the chair of pan-African studies at Cal State Los Angeles, as well as the co-founder of the Los Angeles chapter of Black Lives Matter and co-founder of Black Lives Matter Grassroots. We'll also hear from some families who have been impacted by police violence, including Arleta Nance, mother to Tahmon Wilson, Dionne Smith, mother to James Rivera Jr. and Roland Harris, whose son Jacob smith was also killed by police.
