“If you don't find a way to make money while you sleep, you'll work until you die.” That’s a bit of advice from Warren Buffet, "The Oracle of Omaha" and perhaps the world’s most successful investor. For most, it’s a dream. But for Drake Bajat it’s a personal philosophy and throughline in his serial entrepreneurship. Today, Drake owns Restoration One, a Lafayette-based company specializing in water, mold, fire damage, and biohazard cleanup. But he’s also operated a successful tax and accounting firm, owned a paint contracting company, and spent years in the oil and gas industry as a landman. He did well enough but wanted a business of his own that would give him control over his own time and money. He bought a Restoration One franchise after doing some market research. The company has four employees and averages about five jobs each week. While Drake is focused on making money while he sleeps, Whitney Lange is busy making money where others sleep—designing bedrooms, kitchens, and entire interiors that clients dream of. Whitney is the owner of DBR Designs, a full-service interior design firm in Lafayette. Whitney grew up inspired by home décor shows on HGTV and turned that passion into a thriving career. After earning her interior design degree from UL and working in local design and staging companies, Whitney purchased DBR Designs in 2023. She also owns House Dressings, Lafayette’s only dedicated home staging company. Whitney and her team offer detailed and personalized designs, handling everything from initial consultations to the finishing touches that make spaces feel like home. Out to Lunch Acadiana was recorded live over lunch at Tsunami Sushi in downtown Lafayette. The Hip Hop podcast is back in action, focusing on the latest developments in the music industry. Drake has submitted a pre-action petition to UMG, urging them to recognize their role in helping Kendrick Lamar's song "Not Like Us" achieve number one status through the use of bots and payola. While Drake raises a valid concern, it raises questions about whether the intention was to undermine his position at the top and potentially reduce his earnings when his contract expires. Additionally, I will share my thoughts on the reactions from celebrities like Uncle Luke, DJ Akademiks, and Joe Budden regarding this petition that has stirred significant conversation within the hip hop community. While Drake and Kendrick Lamar trade diss tracks back and forth, we decided to dig into the engine that makes it all possible. How has rap beef evolved in the streaming era and social media? Do the stakes still matter? Who makes money from these beef? How does this impact hip-hop's "decline"?I'm joined by BrandMan Sean, our friend of the pod who had a lot to say about this. The Spitter's Section Episode 2Feuds and authenticity in rap take the spotlight as we peel back the curtain on the music industry's burning issues. From Drake's vulnerable themes to the ethical quandaries that plague the scene, we're not holding back on the tough conversations. Brace yourself for a deep-dive into the Drake and Future tension, where I break down their lyrical warfare and what it could mean for the titans of hip-hop. While Drake's latest efforts stir debate over quality versus success, we question whether Future's understated genius is slipping under the radar. And it's not just the big names; the spotlight shines bright on NFL Partell's mixtape buzz and the fresh release from an artist who's just traded prison bars for lyrical ones.Ever wondered how the persona of a rapper like Drake resonates with fans worldwide? I'm putting my own low-key love life on the line to contrast the high-profile romantic rollercoaster he often portrays. The authenticity of Southern rap, the artistic merit of recent albums, and the emerging talents that deserve your playlist—nothing escapes our scrupulous ears. We zoom out to view the bigger picture, examining whether the industry's output is living up to our expectations or if mediocrity is being masked by commercial success. Furthermore, as we venture into the achievements of J Cole's Dreamville roster and anticipate 'The Fall Off,' the conversation becomes a testament to the richness and diversity of hip-hop culture.Switching gears, the episode takes an ethical turn as we salute Hardo's true-to-life storytelling and unwrap the disconcerting allegations casting shadows upon the industry. Reflecting on the not-so-glamorous aspects of the rap game, we consider how media narratives shape our anxieties and personal values. In anticipation of my co-host T's return, we lay the groundwork for the next Spitter Section, ensuring that your hip-hop insights remain as sharp as your beats. Stay with us as we navigate the complexities of an industry as multifaceted as the artists it births, and remember, the search for the next anthem never sleeps.
What was an uneventful Friday of music releases may of just been the calm before the storm. Saturday seen the biggest artist in the world drop his response to "Like That" when "Drop And Gimme 50" made its way to the public. I give my take on the record and breakdown the meaning behind the bars. While Drake chose to address the field many by name only one took it upon themselves to fire back. Rick Ross responded with "Champagne Moments" just two hours later followed by a numbers of social media posts trolling Drake. Now BBL Drizzy is trending and we are all still waiting on Kendrick to respond. I give my take on it all and what could and should happen next. The guys are back after a mixy weekend. Rory and Julian thought they found love for Baby D, but to no avail. The following night, the party continued with Bas and the Dreamville team again at none other than Ludlow House. While we were running around lower Manhattan most people were uptown in Harlem for Drake's back-to-back shows at the historic Apollo. We break down the set list, the featured artists, and how Rory and Mal swallowed their pride and refrained from texting Drake for tickets. While Drake had NY's attention, Beyonce was across the world giving Dubai her first live show in 4 years. We further the Dubai conversation by proposing a question that would lead to a quick (but sticky) payout. Speaking of sexual acts, would you let your significant other go on vacation for 20 days? Tune in as we discuss all of the above, as well as, the pathetic showing of NY sports teams, Shannon Sharpe vs. The Grizzlies, Catholic School basketball + more!
Locked On Baylor - Daily Podcast On Baylor Bears Football & Basketball
There are 12 games in the standard college football season. Winning all 12 of those games is not common, especially with the toughest contests coming on the road. That is the task Baylor football is up to in 2022. Dave Aranda's squad faces a gauntlet of a slate, and Cameron Stuart joins Drake to compartmentalize the Bears' schedule into guaranteed wins, toss-up games and guaranteed losses. I know, there are games on the schedule that are already lost. For Drake, Texas State, Albany, Kansas and TCU were guaranteed wins. For Cameron, Texas State, Albany, Kansas and Texas Tech. In the category of toss-up games, Drake opted to include Kansas State, Texas Tech, West Virginia, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and Texas. Cameron sided with Kansas State, Texas Tech, West Virginia, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. While Drake and Cameron both see BYU as a guaranteed loss, Drake sees the Bears losing at Oklahoma while Cameron thinks the boys in green go down in Austin. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Drake is a fitness enthusiast who has an extensive background in personal training. While Drake has always had a passion for his own fitness, he has found a passion in helping others. Having obtained his personal training credentials, Drake loves sharing his knowledge with others and helping people reach their own fitness goals through education, encouragement, and support. In addition to fitness, Drake loves connecting with people. Serving as a personal trainer gives Drake the best of both worlds as he gets to connect with people while helping them with their fitness. Outside of the gym, Drake enjoys video games and playing pool. Through both of these passions, Drake loves the idea of forming a community and finding others that share a love for these activities. It's really cool to see all that Drake has achieved personally and professionally and I cannot wait to see what he does next. It's been three years since Drake and Pusha-T's beef reached its tipping point, with the rappers' respective releases of “Duppy Freestyle” and “The Story Of Adidon.” While Drake certainly took issue with Pusha for his comments, the Toronto rapper has also cited problems with Kanye West. And since then the two have yet to see eye-to-eye. He seemed to address Kanye in his guest verse on Trippie Redd‘s “Betrayal,” the first collaboration between the two rappers, from Trippie's new album Trip At Knight. Drake seems to take a shot at Kanye in the song. “All these fools I'm beefin' that I barely know / Forty-five, forty-four (Burned out), let it go,” he raps, which could be a reference to Kanye's current age of 44. (Pusha T is coincidentally also 44 years old.) “Ye ain't changin' shi*t for me, it's set in stone / Rollin' stones, heavy stones (PinkGrillz) / Precious stone, let me make my presence known.” It's unclear exactly what Drake believes Kanye won't change for him, but it could be a reference to his long-awaited Certified Lover Boy, as some believe Kanye is delaying the release of his tenth album Donda in order to share a release date with Drake. In the past few weeks theres been a discussion brewing on whether or not Lil Baby was the heir apparent to Drake. While Drake has yet to formally give up his rather comfortable throne in rap, Lil Baby is quickly ascending. Will that change ever come?
Na na na na na... welcome, everyone! If you're a new subscriber, an OG, or even a hater (like our girl Latoya) thank you for stopping by! Marisa, joined by co-hosts Joyce and Ariela, kicks off the episode by sharing how she caught up with old friends this weekend at Joe's pool party. While Drake was on the outside hating, Mari, Mal, Rory and Joe show us that at a Joe Budden function, it's all love! At the same party, Marisa also clears the air with Mandii of The Whoreible Decisions after a somewhat awkward episode last week that you guys may have already heard. Hot Girl Summer is FLYING by, and while we're puzzled on how that happened, Marisa wonders how Megan Thee Stallion won the VMA just weeks after the song dropped. But just so we're very clear- we definitely ain't mad bout it! Next, Marisa reveals how a big move may be in the near future, and co-hosts Joyce and Ariela weigh in on this possible life change. Big Sean's return to music post-mental health break brings up the topic of burnout, and the ladies discuss how they manage to keep it at bay. Lastly, East LA singer, songwriter and rapper Malaynah (@Malaynah) stops by to join in on a few hot topics, offering advice on welcoming change. Plus, she teases her upcoming project ‘Karma,' and reveals how she started freestyling in the car to getting co-signed by Cardi B and Tyga. https://twitter.com/iamcardib/status/1059921895649361922 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bp2oaNxl0p8/?utm_source=ig_embed Check out Malaynah's single 'Karma' here: empire.lnk.to/Karma1 Also be on the lookout for her next EP coming mid-September, and you can buy tickets to the upcoming 'Welcome to the West' performance, where you can check out Malaynah here: https://www1.ticketmaster.com/cabana-life-concerts-presents-welcome-to-the-west-2/event/0900568CDE5563F2
While Drake men's basketball team is co-Missouri Valley Champions with Loyola they get hit with awful news as freshman guard DJ Wilkins is out for the season with an ankle injury, Iowa and Iowa State face plant over the weekend so where does their season go from here?, we ask if Fran recruits to his personality and if his players have hit a "Fran Fatigue," we get to the bottom of why some call the cookies Caramel deLites while others call them Samoas and has Jim Delaney been good for college athletics?
Do aliens exist? That’s a question mankind has asked itself for centuries. And these days with our powerful rockets and satellites, it seems the question could possibly be answered soon. The next four stories are ambitious and have generated buzz because they seek to answer one of humanties biggest questions. These are the 4 Most Realistic Chances of Finding Alien Life. The Breakthrough Starshot Project Man’s curiosity knows no bounds and in the world of science and technology, often curiosity intersects in a way that could possibly bring even the most outlandish of dreams into reality. One of the top scientific thinkers of today, Stephen Hawking, together with Facebook owner, Mark Zuckerberg and Russian tycoon, Yuri Milner have teamed up to create a unique project involving tiny rockets and finding alien life. Dubbed as the Breakthrough Starshot Project, its been deemed a philanthropic initiative. Its main goal is to discover alien life in the far universe as well as to explore deep space regions in search of planets that could potentially sustain life. 3. The Sara Seager Equation Frank Drake calculated the possibility of finding intelligent alien life in the far-flung universe in 1961. It’s called The Drake Equation and it was created to estimate the number of civilizations that might exist throughout the known universe. While Drake focused on finding alien life with radio technology, more recently a parallel equation was created by astronomer and planetary scientist, Sara Seager. Her equation focuses on determining the possibility of alien life that can be detected from Earth. 2. Elon Musk & SPACE Xz With the most recent launch of the Falcon Heavy Rocket, the heaviest and most powerful in the world right now, it’s no surprise Elon Musk is slowly on his way to bringing space, particularly Mars, closer to humanity. For years, he has spoken about his intentions to bring people to Mars and eventually create a space colony on the red planet. But how does he intend to do this? And above all, is it even possible? Musk has already made headway with his recent rocket launches. Space X has grown from a startup company to the most premiere privately-owned space company in the world. And more recently, they’ve proven they can launch rockets capable of carrying a huge payload which is paving the way for humans to eventually travel in them too. The 23-story Falcon Heavy launch was essentially a test flight for other future rockets of the same caliber. Inside it was Musk’s cherry red Tesla Roadster with a mannequin donning a spacesuit. According to Musk, he hopes the rocket and other improved versions will eventually be used to shuttle humans through space. 1. Government Has Already Made Contact When it comes to talk of alien existence, it’s hard not to mention the government. For many, there’s a growing conspiracy that we don’t really need to find out if UFOs exist, because the government has already made contact – they’re just keeping it a secret from the rest of us. From Roswell to the mysterious existence of Area 51, the government has been accused of doing an extensive job of cover up the truth about So those were the 4 MOST REALISTIC CHANCES OF FINDING ALIEN LIFE ------------ These are only four possibilities of us finding out about alien life. But the reality is that there are many other things that could happen at any moment, that prove once and for all that we are not alone in the universe.
