I have a few small questions about Joanne, but nothing that detracts from the story. The ending was very interesting from a storytelling perspective but certainly was satisfying.THE MISSING CORPSE is the second book in The General's Project series. I have not read the first. Book 2 is set some four years later with, from what I can tell, little carrying over. Sigurd, crab boat owner and operatorGull, first mate and friend for over 20 yearsHammer, engineer, Native American, and former copHere's what Drake knows:• On the voyage back after a successful crab harvest, Lep O was found in one of the king crab holds. The crabs devoured him. His skull had a large fracture.• The official investigation ruled the death accidental. Under federal jurisdiction, the victim's family can sue, which Sarah, Capt. Sigurd's daughter, did.• Capt. Sigurd's granddaughter, Sarah's daughter, Debbie, married Lep O while away at college. Lep O assaulted Debbie, but she refused to press charges.• Capt Sigurd hired the man on to separate him from his granddaughter. Sigurd admitted that if Lep O hadn't died in the hold, he would have thrown him overboard.Capt. Sigund acknowledged negligence in his statement to Drake, saying the hold was open, so he accepted responsibility.Gull is the crane operator who handles moving the pots and placing the steel covers over the crab holds. The last time he saw Lep O, the man was crossing the street.Gull claims the title of Debbie's “adopted uncle.” He thought little of his nephew-in-law.Hammer, a Native American, has been with Sigurd for 2-years, since quitting law enforcement. As the engineer, he's responsible for the boat's seaworthiness. The last time he saw Lep O was inside the bar accosting a waitress.Hammer had suspected Lep O was stealing native art. This was confirmed when he found a head piece in a box marked as frozen bait.Sigurd claims he was in his cabin at the time Lep O went into the hold.Lep O had been cleaning the hold in which he died. It was still open when he went ashore to the nearby bar. He hit on and then assaulted a waitress. Hammer had arrived by that point and intervened, putting Lep O into a chokehold. A knife fight nearly broke out.Lep O left the bar and didn't show up for work the next morning.Was Lep O's death a not-so-sad accident or who did the definitely on purpose?ABOUT Larry M. Only the house of the star basketball player was broken into.Dupree reported that they were planning to burgle the four homes when Marsh wanted to back out. That leaves Lara, queen of the popular girls, utterly miserable. She's expected to go to college, get her Mrs. degree, and land a ladder climbing husband. Lara dreamed of a modeling career.As Daphne joins the partying Vaughn siblings, its clear everything is not merry and well. Daphne has been able to see images of the future when she touches others. Her senses are working overtime with the Vaughns and her mother's too slick new boyfriend. Daphne sees enough to know dark days are coming and someone won't survive but she doesn't know who, and she has no one to talk to about it.The central characters are between 15 and 25 years old, and is classified as a Young Adult novel, but this is really a story for suspense readers of any age. The struggles the kids face are universal – the grass is always greener … until you climb the fence and realize its been spray painted.In all genres, there is a spectrum from light to heavy, for suspense, we're going to use nail biters. FOREWARNED is at the lighter end and I give it two nail biters. The tension is high enough to keep the pages rapidly turning.The setting back in 1976 does give a flashback of Americana and the prospective of an upper class. For children of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, its filled with little “I remember that” treats. I loved Philips “product placement” naming brands and foods that were part of my childhood including Bottle Caps, wax candy bottles, Necco Wafers, and Bubble Yum. For children of the 80s and on, it paints a picture of American society and the gains women have made in divorce, education, and careers.The logic in this one stands up well. It is a straightforward story with Daphne and Lara being true to their characters. I personally would have like to see the paranormal be more of a story element. Daphne's...

The formal definition is “the electronic posting of mean spirited messages about a person (such as a student) often done anonymously.” Research and stories are often focused on children and teens, but also happens to adults, just as it did to Hope and Henri. From Very Well Mind comes this list of cyberbully types:• Flaming or roasting – using language including insults, to solicit an emotional response – common in politics• Outing – sharing personal / embarrassing information• Trolling – content including comments with the goal of creating division and chaos• Name calling – says it all• Spreading false rumors• Sending explicit images or messages – without the consent of the victim• Cyber stalking / harassing / physical threats – repeatedly target the same person / peopleCyberbullying causes real injury to victims. From mental health incidents to PTSD to suicidal thoughts, cyberbullies can completely disrupt victims lives. Sadly, there are too many examples of cyberbullying being linked to victim's suicides including Megan Meier (13), Tyrone Unsworth (13) Amanda Todd (15), Choi Jin-Ri aka Sulli (15), Phoebe prince (16), Rehtaeh Parsons (17), Tyler Clementi (19), Hana Kimura (22), Kelly Fraser (26).The US Department of Health and Human Services maintains the website stopbullying.gov with resources and support for victims, kids, parents, and teachers. All states require schools to intercede when cyberbullying is reported. Check out stopbullying.gov to recognize signs of the abuse in children and teens. Support for adults can be found from the Cyberbullying research Center at cyberbullying.orgWhile more attention is given to children and teens, adults are just as vulnerable. The Cyberbullying Research Centers offers resources, references to laws, research, and advice including the importance of documenting everything, utilizing the terms of use for the social media – most prohibit harassment – to intervene, and, importantly (and probably most difficult) do not retaliate. While it might feel good, it could work against you as you pursue legal and other remedies.
