Judge Sid Harle denied the defense's mistrial motion Wednesday in the Adrian Gonzales trial, but the battle over teacher Stephanie Hale's testimony isn't over. Harle called the prosecution's failure to disclose information "negligent" and will decide Thursday whether to strike Hale's entire testimony from the record.Hale testified Tuesday that she saw "a person in all black and a long weapon" on the south side of the Robb Elementary campus — the same area where Gonzales was positioned. The defense says that information was never disclosed and called the trial "a trial by ambush." On Tuesday, the Uvalde County DA was even sworn in to testify about what she knew and when she knew it. Her answer: she was "in and out" of witness interviews. The families aren't hiding their frustration. Jesse Rizo, uncle of victim Jackie Cazares, said watching the prosecution stumble is "so disappointing." His brother Manuel called the prosecution team "incompetent."Trial resumes Thursday. Denied Disc Replacement? Why a Second Opinion Matters | Episode 84

Get Back To Your Life

Living with chronic back pain often means slowly adapting your life around it. Over time, everyday things – sitting comfortably, traveling, sleeping through the night, keeping up with family, start to require planning, compromise, or avoidance altogether. The hardest part isn't usually the pain itself, but the fear that this may simply be how life will always feel.  After nearly 20 years of back pain and multiple procedures, Rachel, a teacher and mom of two, found herself in that exact place. She describes years of temporary fixes "surgeries that helped, until they didn't,"  trying everything from lumbar fusion to chiropractors to injections, discectomy and physical therapy, yet lasting relief never came.  Eventually she was told disc replacement surgery wasn't an option for her. Instead, she was warned that her future would likely involve spinal fusion after spinal fusion, each one further limiting her mobility and quality of life. She felt trapped between continuing to manage her pain and facing an uncertain future of additional surgery. Rather than accepting that outcome, Rachel decided to keep asking questions. In this episode of Get Back to Your Life®, Rachel shares how seeking another opinion led her to two-level disc replacement surgery with Dr. Colin Haines at VSI®, and how that decision changed what daily life looks like for her today. Her story isn't defined by a single milestone; it instead highlights the return of everyday life… the moments that make life feel normal again… better sleep, greater independence, and the ability to fully participate in activities she had slowly stepped away from. If you're facing chronic back pain, been told your options are limited, or wondering whether disc replacement may still be worth exploring,  Rachel's story serves as a hopeful reminder that being told "no" doesn't always mean the story is over, and that asking the right questions can open doors many people don't realize still exist.

Peter may have failed, but his faith did not.Dr. Mitchell gives us a short overview on the 6 Scriptural evidences of Peter's downward trajectory before his denial. He then also points out how the Lord Jesus still loved Peter and sought him out personally after His resurrection. 1Cor.15:4 records Christ first appeared to Cephas, to Peter. The apostle Peter, in the book of Acts, is now one filled with the Holy Spirit, proclaimng Christ, crucified and raised again whom God exalted to His own right hand. Due to the multiple current suppression orders Ben's full name and identity to an extent is still kept anonymous.Ben Beasant aka "Officer A" VA (Medal of Valor) was brought up in the Hawkesbury north-west of Sydney.  'Officer A' was in the New South Wales Police Force for nearly 20 years. The Lindt Cafe siege was a terrorist attack that occurred on 15–16 December 2014 when a lone gunman, shit bag, held hostage ten customers and eight employees of a Lindt chocolate café in the APA Building in Martin Place, Sydney, Australia. Shitbag was armed with a pump shotgun and a 'backpack bomb' and held 18 hostages for 17 hours before police stormed in.Send us a text however note we cannot reply through these means. MDJ Script/ Top Stories for December 24th Publish Date:  December 24th Commercial: From the BG Ad Group Studio, Welcome to the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast.    Today is Wednesday, December 24th and Happy Birthday to Howard Hughes I’m Keith Ippolito and here are the stories Cobb is talking about, presented by Times Journal Atlanta's Christmas Day forecast sees temperatures near record high Vegan Bakery opens in East Cobb Marietta History Center revisits the Square’s Christmas Past All of this and more is coming up on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen and subscribe!  BREAK: INGLES 9 STORY 1: Atlanta's Christmas Day forecast sees temperatures near record high It’s not exactly sweater weather, folks—Christmas in Atlanta is shaping up to feel more like a spring fling. Highs are expected to hit the low to mid-70s, putting this year in the running for one of the warmest Christmas Days on record. The all-time high? A toasty 75 degrees back in 2015. Rain? Not likely. Just sunshine, warmth, and maybe a little disbelief. STORY 2: Vegan Bakery opens in East Cobb  Tropicups, a vibrant new vegan bakery, officially opened its doors on Saturday, bringing cupcakes, cakes, and a whole lot of heart to 2525 Shallowford Road. Owner and baker Renée de Gannes Penn started Tropicups as a home bakery, whipping up treats for friends and family after going vegan a few years ago. Now, with her first storefront, she’s serving up cupcakes, brownies, lemon-blueberry squares, and even vegan soft-serve ice cream. Custom orders? Yep, she’s got those too. The name “Tropicups” is a nod to her Trinidadian roots—“tropical” meets “cupcakes.” But her treats aren’t just for vegans. “People with dairy, egg, or gluten allergies love them too,” she said, though she notes the bakery isn’t allergy-certified. De Gannes Penn hopes Tropicups becomes a community hub. “I’m just so excited to share this with everyone,” she said. STORY 3: Marietta History Center revisits the Square’s Christmas Past  The Marietta History Center and Parks and Rec are taking a stroll down memory lane—Christmas tree style. Every year, Glover Park gets its holiday glow-up with a big, beautiful tree, and now the history center is celebrating that tradition by sharing photos of past displays. The collection spans from 1987 to 2001, showcasing everything from classic decorations to quirky, playful themes. “These trees have been the heart of Marietta Square’s holiday season for decades,” the museum shared on social media. “We’re thrilled to keep their stories safe—no dusting required!” We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.799.6810 for more info.  We’ll be right back. Break: INGLES 9 STORY 4: Congregation Ner Tamid celebrates 10th annual Marietta Square Menorah lighting Marietta Square buzzed Saturday night—families, friends, officials, all huddled together under the glow of the menorah for Congregation Ner Tamid’s 10th annual Hanukkah celebration. The air smelled like latkes and fried donuts, kids clutching raffle tickets, hoping for gift cards from local shops. Rabbi Joseph Prass, marking a decade with the synagogue, called up children to light the candles, weaving the story of Hanukkah into the night. “Freedom,” he said, “is worth celebrating—publicly, boldly.” The crowd nodded, some teary-eyed. After all, safety isn’t guaranteed everywhere. Prass reflected on recent tragedies, grateful for this moment of peace. Chocolate coins flew, kids laughed, and the night ended with blessings sung loud enough to echo. STORY 5: Georgia Power wins approval for massive expansion   Chaos. That’s the only word for it. Last week, Georgia Power got the green light—unanimously, no less—from state regulators to build five gas plants, a move critics say could cost $60 billion. Sixty. Billion. Dollars. That’s five Hoover Dams’ worth of power, and nearly a 50% boost in capacity. Why? Supposedly, tech giants need it for their AI and server farms. But here’s the kicker: the numbers? Secret. Opponents begged for transparency—“show your work,” they said. Nope. Denied. The vote? Rushed, just weeks before two new Democratic commissioners take office. Break: STORY 6: Atlanta named best US city for Christmas in 2025 by WalletHub     Turns out, Atlanta’s the place to be for Christmas this year. WalletHub just crowned it the best city in the U.S. to celebrate the holidays in 2025. Why? Well, it’s not just the lights or the shopping (though there’s plenty of that). Atlantans are apparently big on giving—clothing drives, online donations, you name it. Generosity, it seems, is kind of our thing. San Francisco came in second (candy shops galore), Seattle third (tree farms and bakeries, anyone?). Meanwhile, Stockton? Dead last. But hey, as one expert put it: the best holiday moments? They don’t cost a dime. STORY 7: Georgia prepares for Sugar Bowl rematch as Ole Miss promises a better fight  Here we go again. Georgia vs. Ole Miss, round two—this time in the Sugar Bowl. The Bulldogs took the first matchup back in October, a wild 43-35 shootout in Athens, but Ole Miss? They’re not exactly rolling over. A lot’s changed since then. Lane Kiffin’s out, Pete Golding’s in, and Ole Miss just steamrolled Tulane. Oh, and they’ve got a new QB, Trinidad Chambliss, who’s been proving doubters wrong all season. Revenge? Maybe. Opportunity? Definitely. Buckle up. We’ll have closing comments after this. Break: INGLES 9 Signoff-   Thanks again for hanging out with us on today’s Marietta Daily Journal Podcast. Episode 162: Denied and Forgotten: How Medical Claim Denials Are Costing You 13% of Your Revenue

Medical Money Matters with Jill Arena

Send us a textImagine this: You see a patient, perform the exam, document the care, your staff submits the claim—to all appearances everything looks right. But then the claim comes back denied. The team may shrug, file it away, mark it unresolved. And the revenue disappears. What you delivered—the service, the documentation, the provider expertise—is lost financially. And more often than you think, this is happening silently. And this is in addition to the money you're losing on adjustments, which we reviewed in our last episode.Today we're diving into an issue that's also quietly eroding the bottom line of many medical groups: claim denials that aren't followed up. The stats are startling: about 20% of medical insurance claims are denied (yes, you heard that correctly: one‑in‑five) and around 65% of those denials are never appealed or corrected. Put those together and you get this: if 20% are denied, and 65% of those are lost, you're effectively giving away 13% of your revenue. That's a huge hit—and yet most practices aren't managing it as one of their top financial risks. Many aren't even aware of it. They've just gotten used to it over the years as an “acceptable loss.”This isn't theory—it's real work you've done, for real patients, with real documentation and care. And if you don't follow up on denials, you're essentially saying someone else's rules are dictating your revenue. For physician groups, this means margin gets squeezed, growth stalls, and independence becomes harder to maintain. All because you're handing over a bunch of money to the payers. Please Follow or Subscribe to get new episodes delivered to you as soon as they drop! Denise George's Attempt To Freeze The Epstein Estate Accounts Is Denied By The Court

A federal court denied then–U.S. Virgin Islands Attorney General Denise George's request to freeze the Epstein estate's bank accounts after determining that the extraordinary relief she sought was not supported by the procedural posture of the case. George argued that an immediate freeze was necessary to prevent the dissipation of assets while the territory pursued civil enforcement claims tied to Epstein's sex trafficking operation. The court, however, found that the request did not meet the high legal threshold required for such an action, emphasizing concerns about due process and the absence of a sufficient showing that assets were in imminent danger of being improperly transferred or concealed. The denial had significant consequences for the USVI's broader strategy. Without a freeze in place, the estate retained control over its funds as litigation continued, allowing money to flow toward legal fees, administration costs, and the victims' compensation program. Critics argued that the ruling weakened the territory's leverage and accelerated the depletion of resources that could have supported deeper discovery and enforcement. For George, the decision became emblematic of the systemic barriers facing efforts to aggressively pursue Epstein's estate, reinforcing her claim that legal and institutional structures consistently favored containment and closure over transparency and accountability.to  contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com

When I first spoke with Pete Furman in Episode 36, his health was failing, his options felt limited, and the road ahead was anything but clear. He was living with a myocardial bridge, drug therapy wasn't working, and insurance had just denied his preferred surgeon. Everything felt urgent — and uncertain. In this follow-up conversation, Pete returns to share what happened next.We talk about how he navigated insurance denial, found a local cardiac surgeon willing to listen and learn, and ultimately underwent open-heart surgery to fully unroof his myocardial bridge. Pete walks us through the questions he asked, the promises he insisted on, and how self-advocacy became a matter of survival. But this episode goes far beyond the operating room. Pete opens up about the emotional toll on his family, the anxiety leading up to surgery, and recording messages “just in case.” He also shares a surprising post-surgery discovery — that part of his ongoing struggle wasn't his heart at all, but how he was breathing — and how retraining his body helped him reclaim strength he hadn't felt in years.Today, more than a year after surgery, Pete is back on his bike, training again, and setting his sights on racing in 2026.If you're facing a myocardial bridge diagnosis, wrestling with insurance, or wondering whether it's possible to truly get your life back, this conversation is proof that it is — even when the path looks imperfect.Pete's Doctor in Arizona was Dr. Modesto Colon with Phoenix Cardiac SurgeryChapter Timestamps00:00 – Welcome Back & Where Pete's Story Left OffPete returns to Imperfect Heart and recaps his diagnosis, failed drug therapy, and the critical decisions he faced after Episode 36.08:45 – Insurance Denial & Finding the Right SurgeonHow a denied robotic surgery led Pete to a local, in-network cardiac surgeon — and the questions that mattered most.24:30 – The Surgery Decision: Sternotomy vs RoboticWhy Pete chose open-heart surgery, what “fully unroofing” meant to him, and the promises he required before saying yes.41:10 – Fear, Family, and Facing the UnknownThe emotional weight of declining health, preparing his family, and recording messages “just in case.”57:40 – Recovery, Setbacks, and a Surprising BreakthroughPost-surgery struggles, breathing dysfunction, and how retraining his body changed everything.1:15:20 – Life One Year Later: Riding, Racing, and HopePete's return to the bike, future goals, advice for others starting this journey, and why advocacy matters.
