“Connectivity really embodies what we're about and we're about connecting everyone, everywhere.” says Bruce Lancaster, CEO of Wilson Connectivity. In this episode of Technology Reseller News, Doug Green speaks with Bruce Lancaster, CEO of Wilson Connectivity, about the company's rebrand from Wilson Electronics, its private 5G launch, and its vision for enterprise-grade wireless connectivity across industries. From Wilson Electronics to Wilson Connectivity: A Broader Vision Wilson Connectivity has evolved from a consumer-focused booster company into a full-scale enterprise connectivity provider. Today, its solutions range from: Enterprise repeaters and bi-directional amplifiers Fiber optic DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems) Private 5G networks for hospitals, factories, airports, and retail “We provide solutions from the smallest jewelry store to the largest multi-story office building or factory,” Lancaster explained. Bringing Connectivity to Every Space Retail & Safety Applications: Tiffany's stores across the U.S. use Wilson's solutions to ensure strong cellular connectivity for shoppers. Grocery stores rely on it for loyalty programs and mobile payments, while walk-in freezers in convenience stores integrate connectivity for employee safety. Industrial & Enterprise Needs: Factories are adopting autonomous forklifts and robotic material handling, requiring low-latency private 5G networks. Mining operations and remote locations also depend on Wilson's fiber DAS solutions for high-bandwidth communication. Transportation & Airports: Airports lack nearby cell towers, making in-building fiber optic DAS essential for passenger connectivity, two-way radio communications, and private networks. Ride-sharing and EV charging stations also depend on strong indoor coverage. The Future of Connectivity: Blending Terrestrial & Satellite Networks With AI, automation, and data demands growing, Lancaster foresees hybrid terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks playing a key role. Starlink and satellite failovers will complement existing ground infrastructure to ensure reliable, high-speed global connectivity. The use of mid-band spectrum in the 1-6 GHz range and specifically in the 3-4 GHz range, has been the focus among mobile network operators for their 5G buildouts. Mid-band spectrum offers an attractive balance of wide area coverage and high-speed connections needed for 5G.Verizon and AT&T each spent a lot of money acquiring C-band spectrum and are already deploying A-block licenses in the 3.7-3.8 GHz range. While C-band works well outdoors, like all cellular signals, it encounters propagation problems inside buildings. Since studies show that a high percentage of all cellular calls either originate or terminate inside buildings, that's a problem.Todd Fariss, Product Line Director, WilsonPro at Wilson Electronics talks to John Celentano, Inside Towers Business Editor about C-band in-building signal propagation challenges and how signal boosters address them. In today's podcast, I review the weBoost Drive 4G-X OTR cell signal booster from Wilson Electronics. Links in the podcast: Check out my new ebook/audiobook called Trucking Life and get some free samples of both the audio and text versions. @Holden657 was kind enough to leave reviews of Trucking Life on both Amazon and the iBooks Store. 35-year driver Daniel S. Bridger reviewed Trucking Life on his Trucking Blog. Todd Dills from OverdriveOnline.com also wrote an excellent review of Trucking Life. Youssef from KnowTrucking.com wrote in to tell us about their free practice CDL tests. Billy from Trutrux told us about his new website that sells truck, ATV, boat, camping, outdoor gear & cool stuff. I mention shows I've been watching, including Arrow, Flash, Agents of Shield, and Downton Abbey, which is sort of a spin-off of the movie, Gosford Park. Non-trucker Jeremy wrote in to ask about exercise as a trucker. I put him off so I could do a whole podcast about it. I mentioned my workout video calledTD81: How To Do A Full-Body Workout Inside The Cab Of A Semi. Long Duck writes in to talk about his Sonar elogs, lane preference, and he gloats a bit because he's figured out who I work for. In the meantime, I wonder why anyone even cares. David listened to TD56: Funkin' Trucking' and believes that driver funk is directly related to driver fatigue. He also gives us a tip on removing ice from your wipers while driving. This prompts me to mention listener Greg's recommendation of the Slushbuster back in TD110: Jabbering With Jared. He also admits to being a solar driver which I discussed way back in TD53:Lunar Driving As A Trucker. Along the way, David mentions the 48 Days Podcast from Dan Miller.
