Known for her shy and caring nature, Mekayla enjoyed playing the violin and participating in her high school's drama club.In the days leading up to her disappearance, Mekayla made unusual claims about having $5,000 in her bank account and expressed unhappiness to her friends. On April 12, after a regular morning at home, she was seen on CCTV leaving school at 8:30 a.m., walking along railroad tracks, and unsuccessfully trying to pawn a ring.
