Il Cortocircuito
TIER LIST DEFINITIVA della SUMMER OF GAMES! TUTTI I GIOCHI PRESENTATI

Vengono promossi a pieni voti titoli come Fable, Clockwork Revolution e Doom: The Dark Ages.

– sowie in „Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn“ unterwegs.

Februar 2026)

In this episode Bryan and Clint dive into Astro Bot, the 2024 PlayStation 5 platformer developed by Team Asobi and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Building on the foundation of the pack-in hit Astro's Playroom, the studio expands the concept into a full-scale adventure that celebrates three decades of PlayStation history. The guys explore how the game blends inventive platforming, playful level design, and clever uses of the DualSense controller into a tightly paced quest where players rescue lost robots and rebuild their PS5 mothership so the Astro Bots can get their interstellar dance party back on track.Astro Bot balances nostalgia with accessibility, appealing to longtime gamers while remaining instantly readable for kids and newcomers. Listen in as we revisit the game's joyful structure, colorful hub worlds, creative abilities, spectacular boss battles, and homage levels inspired by iconic PlayStation franchises like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted, and Ape Escape. Astro Bot is a rare AAA platformer bursting with wonder, a game that captures the pure joy of play and bridges generations of players through curiosity, creativity, and delight.Join for the dancing robots, stay for the testimonials from budding, young gamers (AKA Clint's sons)!Three Word Reviews:Clint - Pure Gaming JoyBryan - Wide Eyed Wonder

Bei Roland heißt es passenderweise „Out of Alcatraz“. Videospiele? Was kann „Kena: Scars of Kosmora“? Off Topic: Der Podcast mit Roland Austinat und Jürgen Hüsam

Essen, San Francisco – Hauptsache Off Topic! Obendrein teasert Jürgen ein neues Buch von Bitmap Books an: „Leaps & Bounds: A Visual Guide to 9 Console Generations“. Januar 2026)

Sony has accomplished a truly rare feat in this contentious era by providing players with a widely-lauded hour-plus State of Play presentation. At the top of the heap of announcements for many are a duo of God of War-related unveilings -- the long-rumored 2.5D Metroidvania game and an early-in-development ground-up remake of the original PS2 and PS3 trilogy -- with the former project stealth released at the time of its reveal. That's right: You can buy it right now! 29 other games were showcased, revealed, and otherwise shown off during the proceedings as well, like a new Castlevania called Belmont's Curse, a sequel to Kena: Bridge of Spirits called Scars of Kosmora, a AAA John Wick project, stealth title Yakoh: Shinobi Ops, the second volume of Konami's Metal Gear Collection, and much, much more. Plus, fresh looks at Saros, Resident Evil: Requiem, Marathon, Mina the Hollower, Beast of Reincarnation, Marvel Tokon, Control Resonant, Pragmata, 4LOOP, and so on. Other news rounds things out this week -- like steep layoffs at Highguard studio Wildlight and casting details for 2027' Helldivers film -- before we move onto listener inquiries. Who are some of our favorite black characters in gaming history? Why exactly doesn't Colin care about sports games anymore? Should Sony more heavily pursue Astro Bot spinoffs? Januar 2026)

Not recommended unless you really want it for games you can’t get elsewhere. 0:37:15 Multi-platform Games Civilization VII – the rough edges have been sanded off. Pick a leader, but jump to different civilizations in each age. Plays pretty well on any console and on PC, but if you have a Switch 2, buy it for that system, so you can use the mouse controller. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown – turn based tactical game that still forces you to move forward like a typical side-scrolling brawler. Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar – cozy “farm and town” game with engine-building. Has a week cycle as well as a day cycle. Sonic Racing: Crossworlds – good if you don’t have Mario Kart. Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted 0:45:00 Playstation Exclusives “Playstation didn’t put out anything that didn’t involve mass-murder.” Ghost of Yotei – only for grownups, but gorgeous. nothing else really new, but Astro Bot, Final Fantasy VII, and Spider-man 2 are still great choices. 0:46:50 Xbox Exclusives Also not much new that isn’t “headshot-central”. But Star Wars Outlaws is updated and even better than it was last year. 0:47:45 Nintendo Switch / Switch 2 Both consoles are good choices: Switch 2 is very cool. Original Switch is the value choice, and those games will still work if you decide to upgrade later to the Switch 2. Mario Kart World Donkey Kong Bananza Also recommended: Metroid Prime 4 – if you liked Metroid Primeand Kirby Air Riders “If you get a Switch 2, don’t limit yourself to just Switch 2 games” – get older original Switch games, too. A lot of them have been updated for the better graphics of the Switch 2, and they’ll be great! 0:53:00 Online Play and Online Sales You need to do the math and decide if these are worth it for your family. Good alternative to buying a single game if you don’t know what game your recipient would want. Nintendo Switch Online – $80 for up to 8 users (don’t all have to be in the same location), even cheaper if you only need one user. This is absolutely necessary to play online AND gives you access to a bunch of older games. XBox Game Pass – probably not worth it JUST for kids. Worth it for Andrew & Anitra, where we have many people all taking advantage. PS Plus – again, needed for online play. Minimum $80/year for the Essentials plan. As always: If you're buying a console for a holiday present, do NOT leave it in the box! Don't forget to set it up before Christmas! (Plug in, connect to the internet, download updates, install a game or two. You might need to update the firmware on the controller.) It's a much more effective surprise if it's ready to play on Christmas morning. And don’t forget about free to play games like Fortnite or Disney Speed Storm! Those are good to add ahead of time so they can play right away. And don't forget about The Family Gamers holiday gift guide, too! For this extra weekend Kevin gathers up more hopeful future game ideas from part of the Trophy Talk cast and Discord. We start with a follow-up to Max's latest episode of the Moogle Cast where Kevin was a guest for a breakdown of the Bioshock series. This time he digs into an old folder on his hard drive to share an idea he had for a future game that would follow up Bioshock Infinite. While it still feels like Bioshock, it's a new concept, setting, and story that would include the epic and grand ideas that the series is known for. Then Max takes the stage and shares his extremely detailed design for what the next game for Astro Bot should be. He covers how it should help launch the PlayStation 6 in the same way Astro's Playroom helped the PlayStation 5 and also how it might redeem Sony's failed attempt at live-service games (eeeww). As detailed as some of Kevin's ideas have been, they are nothing compared to what Max has prepared for this game. To follow that up Jordan Vickers stops to pitch some of his ideas for three games that he wants to see. He starts off with a few easy concepts for games that sound like they are perfect new directions for the series they come from, and then pitches a third game that would reboot a long-dead game from the 90's that not many of us have heard of. After finding footage of it and seeing a trailer for a failed reboot, this game has to be made. Gary from the Platinum Achievements podcast then joins in to give some ideas for a few beloved series that already have plenty of games, but deserve even more spin-off ideas into other genres. After a few of these game ideas both Kevin and Gary realize they need to start a game studio because they seem to be so good at adding to each other's ideas. We hope you all have a great weekend and have a great time listening to some more of our lofty dream game ideas. Be excellent to each other!
